The policy of 1968 stated that school curriculum should be developed through research in university, education, departments, and training, colleges and upgraded regularly, while schools should be given the freedom to device and experiment with new curriculum suited to their needs. The 1986 policy did not provide any specific recommendations in this area. But NEP 2020 has devoted a discussion on forming a new and comprehensive NCF for school education, NCFSE,based on the principles of NEP with the provision for revisiting and updating it once every 5 to 10 years, considering frontline curriculum.
