The cost of organising the "national" funeral for Celine Dion's husband was picked up by the government of Quebec.
That's despite Dion being the fifth-richest recording artist in the world, worth the equivalent of about 590 million euros, according to Wealth-X Research.

For those on here saying it was too much, Rene and Celine was like royalty in Canada, he made her into the legend she is today and Canada's national treasure! Their weddings was also live broadcast back in 1994, if Canada loves them so much and ppl elsewhere don't then don't watch it. The man planned his own funeral, this is the way he wanted it for her, his family an all his friends, he no doubt would have also made arrangements to pay for it all after all they are filthy rich but if Quebec province insisted then so be it. They are much loved both Rene an Celine.
