All women are beautiful, but this woman in particular has something special in her face, in her eyes, in her soul, in her life, is really wonderful to know that she still alive. God Bless all women, because they make this planet so beautiful, like " The Afghan Girl ".
The disturbing true story of the Afghan Girl photo ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-RuFKpaV_jjo.html&feature=emb_title&fbclid=IwAR2WciHY85SdTTFoiu_cIy7ccz_d5s7Y9hCE7jKdhMYhahsLc5RTzr9S22U
Actually Afghani government in 2017 gave her 3,000 sf house and $700 a month stipend plus medical care. National Geographic established scholarship for Afghani Girls (initially), which later was expanded to Afghani Children. Her husband died in 2012.
Greetings from Pakistan, I am Adeel Chughtai from Pakistan, I was emotional to see her story. This is very heart touching and sad story of the Great Mother Sharbat Gulla, All credits goes to SteveMcCurryStudios searching team and Rahim Ullah Yousafzai for the great efforts. I am requesting all of you, please help and support the refugees in all over the world.
Amazing story thank you for sharing! I wonder if she was given any compensation for being behind such an amazing picture! My heat goes out to her and her family....
damn as soon as they found her and she opened her eyes...your heart just stops. So gorgeous. SHe's live a hard life but still has that beauty and those intoxicating emerald eyes.
Ummm, they still barter in many countries- Afghanistan being one of them. They see no use for "a mil or two". That, like your "women=livestock" argument, could be used as a generalization that a person should receive money to "fix" things. Would she be smiling, her parents are still dead, she doesn't get her picture taken at the local store for a "glam shot." Which is the "broken culture"????? 6 cars in the driveway or raising your children and wanting them to get the education she missed out on. She is a powerful symbol- and SHE, not her husband is pushing for education knowing it will help her kids. Meanwhile somewhere in the US, a 16 year old rich kid with that mil or two is snorting lines on his BMW....
For a good peek into mixed cultures and what is valued, cultural ideals, just look at the guy who responded to you and his profile- "top 5 hottest pornstars", and an interview (I did not care to watch) called "why women like bad guys". Talk about women being livestock. This is too strange. Whatever culture you are in. Just be the best you that you can, and be nice :)
Jimmy Jazz "Ummm, they still barter in many countries- Afghanistan being one of them. They see no use for "a mil or two"." of course, in this video her husband is shown working as a baker and he specifically talks about earning money to send to his family to buy food.....
This whole conversation is too childish. National Geographic did a good thing in making this video; everyone obviously enjoyed watching all 4 parts of it if you are reading and commenting on this page. Sharbat Ghula's message in this film was not to ask national geographic for a "slice of the pie". They went through quite a bit of an effort to find her and, whether they personally gave her material resources or not in exchange for participating (maybe they did, who knows?), they did something powerful for her by giving a voice to this person whose face became a powerful symbol in the West. This has the potential to be more powerful than compensating one person, by inspiring others to care and become involved. So, instead of fighting over what national geographic should give or not, if you feel so passionately about their story, you could listen to her voice and the voices of those like her... and give your best effort to serve them yourselves. I am not arguing on behalf of NG, or saying they are always paragons of virtue, I am just saying that this argument is besides the point and a waste of energy that could be better spent helping someone.
The photo of this young lady helped to spark my interest in portrait photography. Trying to one up McCurry. Never making it but still I try! I met a woman in Europe and photographed her. her eyes VERY similar to Sharbat Gula. Sharbat mesmerizes me! I can NEVER get enough of looking into her eyes... its as if Im in a trance... thanks for my career in portraits Steve McCurry. you started me out on this journey.... one I look to one up each day I shoot! Namaste' kind Sir.
I remembered her famous photo, so when I found out about this documentary, I couldn't wait to watch it, but I couldn't watch it because there were no subtitles in Korean, so I got a DVD with Korean subtitles and finally watched it. Your channel is watched by people from many countries and it would be better if you could support subtitles for as many countries as possible.
The many years searching within much doubt. I Love the Outcome within Wise words, Within the Family story. Blessings be Amazing for her family and loved ones most of all for her. I am Amazed as many. 6:24 what eyes, what teeth, what a smile these Afghans have, their hair, teeth and eyes are very strong and beautiful, their hair is chocolate color, their eyes are sea green, their teeth are like pearls, wow 😯👌
Amazing story, I still do have that magazine pic of her and always wondered what brcame of her, known to me as, the pic of little girl with those piercing eyes , thanks for your story.
I remember this photo when I was in my teenage . As my father work in tourism sector there where many magazine n this one was my favorite as her eyes was so beautiful n her eyes reveal how much pain c has been gone through.
We thank Steve McCurry for taking this wonderful picture. We also thank Sharbat and her husband for cooperation with Steve. We are sad that the people of Afghanistan and Pakistan are still in extreme misery. The people of Pakistan and Afghanistan should and must start working hard to change their luck. If there is a positive change in these countries all Sharbats of the countries will be happy people. For happiness it is absolutely mandatory to work hard and it is absolutely necessary to make the country corruption-free.
? It has nothing to do with working hard to change their luck, nonetheless I agree with you overall. The people have no say, this is not a democratic society. It is governed by Shariah Law and Old tradition.
Yes. They did exploit her. McCurry manipulated the teacher to get that perfect photo of a vulnerable refugee child. She has no mention and even no name, in that June 1985 Issue.
Where is the original episode I watched a couple of years ago? There was another guy from that region accompanying the photographer and other guy and he says you have found the holy grail woman that is the Afghan girl. now they edited it and the guy isn't even in the episode.
She's a beautiful woman and I am happy that she has a own family.ihave a this magazine and when I bought it from bookstore because her eyes told and spoke to me about warzone on her country.. God bless her and her family.ps.i still have a this magazine in my storage.
There is a story that her eyes tell, but only God knows what. Woman of that culture do not readily smile, and grin in front of a camera with a man outside of her family taking it, so do not assume she is sooo sad. We know she has had a very sad life from her story, but I think she is happy with her husband, and children. There is a Western thought, that men of the Islamic countries are horrible to their women. Not true. I come from a family of that origin, and my father treated my mother with love, and understanding. I cried after seeing this documentary. God wanted her to be at a special place, and at a certain time, so that picture could be taken. May God bless the photographer from NatGeo for finding her, and caring enough to tell her story, and for Sharbat Gula to share it with the world. May we pray for world peace.
Vlad Kostrinka You are a liar! My family is from that part of the world too and my father treated my mother like shit and my brother and I like property! Don't tell people lies! Men from Afghanistan and Pakistan are cruel to women and children who don't have the same rights and privileges as men do in that part of the world. Thank God my parents divorced and my brother and I can all live in peace. Islamic sharia law is evil! You are a evil person if you think that women should be treated like property and beaten if a man feels like hitting his wife and children. May Jesus Christ have mercy on your soul, because if you do not accept Jesus Christ as your personal savior and God you will burn in hell for eternity! Islam and it's followers are children of Satan!
He had already Blessed them all. God Walked with the man of NatGeo in which he, the original photogropher found them. Blessings may be Strength. Eyes of Rare colour pigments of This Green. The eye colour alone Tells a Life Story. Life in General. Strength and Very Wise Beautiful Story. Amen.
Her and her brother have green eyes which is an indicator that they are descended from Alexander the Great’s soldiers. Kandahar was a new city created by Alexander who gave it his name. Iskander is another variant of his name.
@@TheAnonyy Two and a half thousand years ago there was free trade , a common currency and civilised cities. Now there is poverty, China owns Pakistan and Afghanistan. They will keep it poor and take away the wealth. Then forcible removal of religion like in Tibet and the Muslims within China.
wow...I just wonder if the photographer help her and her child to go to the school I guess he became famous with this picture so the woman deserve some thankfulness
To find ''Sharbat Gula'' is the success of strive for hope. I'm surprised and astonished upon their courage and struggle that how did they find the same girl in such a constrained society of Pashtoon. This is perhaps a great documentary for many people...
I agree she and her family , heck the whole camp. NG could of at least donated money for schools, a hospital. They made tons of money because of this lady. She survived and is still doing so. Give it up NG. She and her family deserve what they can do to help. I just heard she had to buy an ID. I mean really, I will NEVER purchase another magazine from them if they do not help this woman and it should of been done years ago and the photographer could of at least helped yhem get an ID. He never would of been thought of twice if it was not for her. smuck
Indeed, that photographer was memorized and haunted by her EYE'S all those years, I wonder if he'd of given a Shit if they weren't that hauntingly BEAUTIFUL, give her some money for capitalising on her photo in the NG magazine creep
Nunca en mi vida he visto una mirada tan profunda y misteriosa a la vez a pesar de los ańos que transcurrieron después de la foto sigue teniendo la misma mirada 😱
I remember that cover. She has the most beautiful eyes! With all the money that our government spends on weapons and the war- they couldn't help to rebuild that country?
Afganistan's Jokonda.. Should be in a museum as a living exibit and get payed for living. Her DNA should also be tested. She has a doric nose. Like an ancient spartan soldier's.
I wish I was rich I'd give you and your family money to leave all the he'll you've been threw so can start over and the safe lives you all deserve. instead all i can do is pray for all of you may god the father in heaven. watch over you and keep you safe wish and hope the best for you and your family
I pray 🙏 for her and family please take the best care of her and her family, Steve and national geography owes her millions of dollars made from that one photo, she's a celebrity so treat her like one she's not sueing anyone, can a school build inheritance name such a beautiful woman even when so mature God blessed her and families and friends take care of her please, the fear is still in her eyes, not knowing what next God his great
She definitely doesnt look any happier as an adult as when she did as a child. in fact, she looks morose and like she wants to give up on life altogether.
