In my humble opinion, outside of the Smithsonian, this is the single greatest museum in the entirety of the United States.

I agree with Mark, I think its better than the Smithsonian as well. Not by much, but just the sheer amount of different aircraft at this place will never cease to blow my mind.

A full day? More like a full three day weekend, plus an extra day for the Wright shop and a pilgrimage to Huffman prairie. Your feet will fall off before you get done with this place.

i live in Ohio this museum is badass. changes frequently my neighbor in the country had 27 airplanes from ww1 and ww2. he was a hardass but always took us neighbor kids on his golf cart to see his planes. RIP Mr. Reid. his house is now an airport for small aircraft. Pheasant run airport. Leroy, Ohio. I believe he donated it to a local college.

We’ve been there several times over the past few years. I’m not sure how it is now with covid, but there were many veterans that would greet visitors, and answer questions. The best part was when you would hear them interact with other service members that were there to visit. It gave them a chance to share similar stories with one another. Highly recommend to anyone go visit!

As a child my dad was in the Air Force stationed at Wright Patterson. Been through the old museum. Never have been to the new one. I'm 65 now. Don't know if I'll ever get to go through it. But as a kid, it was really exciting. I was born at WPAFB.

Wright-Patterson was the last base my uncle was at when he retired in the early 70's, the SR-71 in this museum is the one he flew when he was the first squadron leader at Beale AFB in the mid 1960's!

As a museum addict I choose: The Field Museum of Natural History in Chicago Ill The Smithsonian, Washington DC USAF Museum, Dayton Oh Auburn-Cord Museum, Auburn Indiana In that order. The Air Force Museum is accessible from the bike trail since they built an underpass for the railroad just for the bike trail. The ohio bike trail network connects Cincinnati, Dayton and Columbus plus other towns.

Outside of Yellowstone, this is easily the coolest place I've ever been. Absolutely incredible. Oof, that B-36. This place made me geek out so hard. The Valkyririe is something special. They also have a B-1 Lancer, a Titan IV rocket, and a full-sized B-52. Please, everyone, visit. I'd recommend two days for a visit, though. The place is huge. It is awesome.

When the museum first opened, they said it would take you 2 months at 8 hours a day to read everything. It has since increased two over a year-and-a-half now. And if you only have a short time start in building 4 and work your way towards the entrance.

Every time I visit, I always visit this Vietnam vet who works at the museum (mostly does reception at the main entrance), and one time, he told me a story about that exact Caproni Ca. 2 you see in the video, and that Ca. 2 was flown once by the mayor of New York City. He is one of the nicest vets I have ever met. I live close to the museum and I visit any time I can, and I'm now taking flying lessons. Please visit if you can, great place.

Great museum but a video of it deserves a narrator with some clue about what they are looking at or at least enough respect for the objects and history being presented to do some research into what they are seeing.
