In today's vlog we travel to the NATIONAL MUSEUM OF THE UNITED STATES AIR FORCE at WRIGHT PATTERSON AFB in Dayton, Ohio! In this special episode we explore the best air and space museum in the country - covering the Early Years Gallery, World War 2 Gallery, Korean War Gallery, & Southeast Asia War Gallery. With free admission and parking, the museum features more than 350 aerospace vehicles and missiles and thousands of artifacts amid more than 19 acres of indoor exhibit space. The museum's collection contains many rare aircraft of historical or technological importance, and various memorabilia and artifacts from the history and development of aviation. Among them is the Apollo 15 Command Module Endeavour which orbited the Moon 74 times in 1971, one of four surviving Convair B-36 Peacemakers, the only surviving North American XB-70 Valkyrie and Bockscar-the Boeing B-29 Superfortress that dropped the Fat Man atomic bomb on Nagasaki during the last days of World War II.

I enjoyed your tour of the museum. Although your knowledge of the aircraft is imperfect, your enthusiasm shines through. As a Daytonian, I'm especially proud of the fact that unlike the Smithsonian and other Washington DC museums, the NMUSAF is not 100% funded by taxpayers, instead relying on private donations. Despite this, admission is free. I'm looking forward to Part 2!

Haha! We definitely are not experts on aircraft and tried to relay what we were reading at each location and what we had heard! Thanks for watching!!

I see you got Carl on film. We're going there next week. Steve and Candi is right if you have never been there it is so worth the trip. Actually worth the trip back if you have been there before.

The Boeing Factory Flight Manual for the B-17s Sperry-Rand Ball Turret lists 6 feet 2 inches as the height limit... Gunners were trained strictly as a gunner all the same, it was the Pilot/Captain who allocated which gunner went where. In most cases he would pick the smaller man for the ball, or the best shot. Sometimes he would order a man down there as punishment, the ball turret did carry an inherent risk factor. The BTG sat in a prone position but there was room.

No never heard it! Can’t seem to find it. Did you see Cyrano? This is such a cool song from that movie about lads going to war. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-hrN1NA3poSs.html

You must not know much about flight history or the Wright brothers. Maybe you should have taken a trip to Huffman prairie while you're in Dayton. Or Carillon Park for a little more historical information. Or visit the Wright brothers graves at Woodland cemetery.

You are correct! We know very little about aircraft! That’s why we went to the museum!! It’s a great place to see and learn about all sorts of flight and aircraft history!
