A trip to York isn’t complete without a flying visit to the National Railway Museum, 5 mins from York railway station. This wonderful museum owns and hosts some of the UK’s finest locomotives and railway memorabilia, including ‘Flying Scotsman’, ‘Mallard’, ‘Duchess of Hamilton’, ‘Lode Star’, ‘Evening Star’, and of course many more.
One of the halls are temporarily closed for repairs however the grand hall was open as usual, boasting all of its usual attractions. The hall alongside hosts all of the railway memorabilia, from model railways to signalling equipment and railway signage.
Flying Scotsman was here but sadly outside out of full public view, nethertheless you could still see it from a window looking out onto the ECML.
