National Route N2 part 1 - The LONGEST road in Portugal

Join us at the start of the famous N2 route through Portugal. We enjoy the history, scenery and food that Portugal has to offer.
From Chaves, in the North, close to the Spanish border, to Faro in the Algarve on the Atlantic Coast, the longest road in Portugal is 739 kilometres long.

Our journey starts in Chaves, close to the border with Spain, at the zero-kilometre marker on the roundabout at the start of the N2. We head south through 35 municipalities covering 739km taking in as much of the culture and sights as possible.

Our first overnight stay is at Alvão Village Camping just off the N2 near Vila Pouca de Aguiar. A stunning new facility with excellent services this campsite can be found using this google map link goo.gl/maps/yJ...
We continue further along the N2 and visit the famous House of Mateus with its beautifully manicured gardens it is a grand place to visit.

You can get a bottle of the famous rose from the souvenir shop across the road from the main entrance.

Just starting to watch your N2 series and really enjoying it. Your videos are really well made, informative and enjoyable to watch - thank you. I'll have to watch Episode 1 again with my wife, as I think she'll enjoy it too, plus it'll inspire us to do a similar trip in the future in our panel van conversion.

What a great series of Vids about the N2, myself and my partner considered doing the N2 earlier this year when we were in Portugal but heard the it can be a bit sketchy in places which put us off a bit, but we might give it a try ourselves at some point!. It was lovely to see you stopped in my dad's hometown of Vidago too :).

It's most definately not sketchy at all, I don't know who is saying that but they are totally wrong. It's one of the best roads we have driven with stunning scenery and loads of things to visit. So don't be put off and give it a go you will enjoy it. Have fun!

Hi Greg and Louise thanks so much for putting this video series together. I’m rewatching in now as we are heading down the N2 now 😁 we stayed at that campsite last night and it was lovely. In Aldi at Vila Real car park atm getting some supplies and will be looking out for the 64km marker today as we head into the Douro valley. I’ve transferred this series to the new channel so there will be 4 videos that are original and two new ones so far with the next episode out this weekend.
