This one needed to be top-class because that 2nd game was practically a Playoff-atmosphere game once the benches cleared. That didn't just juice the Padres - it juiced the entire city.
This really did capture a lot of key aspects of a great Jomboy breakdown. I always like a great umpire/manager confrontation that is more like distinct and firmly held rule interpretations or motive interpretations rather than just challenging balls and strikes.
"Padres are a dog shit team. Put that in your notes." Buddy, I've been a Padre fan my whole life. That was written on the cover of the notebook I was given when I inherited this Fandom. 😂
i think its because dog water has stuck around in San Diego vernacular a lot longer than other areas of the country. so its older brother dogS wont go away.
@user-ul4vv3mf8p That's exactly what they said. They said it was the ump WHO EJECTED THOR in the "ass in the jackpot" game. They didn't say it was the ump who SAID that line. They said ump who ejected in THE GAME where the line was said. So your "correction" was to tell them they were right all along.
As a pads fan, having a 12 min breakdown on this series was the best! This team is so fun to watch! I’d like to thank will smith and the nationals for firing up Profar and getting him to play the best season of his career so far! Mr. Irrelevant strikes again! ⚡️⚡️
As soon as this series of events happened and the camera zoomed in on Manny like a cell phone in the hands of a concert goer I was waiting on the breakdown. 12 minutes is great for this.
Ruiz was caught off guard when manny threw him with one hand. lol he squared like he was gonna get jumped. Meanwhile the padres were trying to avoid suspensions, especially without tatis and bogaerts. Shildt was the only to get rung 😂😂😂
I fuckin love that umpire. He was the same one who did that badass looking ejection followed by the calm conversation with the player he just ejected 😂
"They told me there were players upset, I don't even know about them" Exactly why the nationals should've kept it right there... everything afterwards just looks silly
I'm on Mike's side here. Doesn't matter if they think it's unintentional. If they give warnings and the very next pitch goes for HBP, pitcher is gone. They don't get the benefit of the doubt in that circumstance.
I’m down for bullet drop but let’s base it off 1 stat like velocity. To base it on velocity, barrel size, and bullet size are too many variables to make the long shot viable. If that’s the goal [to reduce the long range battles] then why have marksman and sniper scopes to begin with. I need a spreadsheet of each gun and custom ammo type to understand where to put my crosshair.
Its not they thought he was the easier out. You have to get the force setup at home. Ground ball is an easy double play to home. Or at least you get the guy at home and the double play is still setup on the next batter.
Oh man, hit by pitch into a double homer? Baseball is poetry sometimes. Really beautiful stuff here. Sucks to see my team lose, but Padres clearly deserved that W.
I would get so heated if someone just kept touching me over and over again when I clearly don't want them to. I feel like the umps should've really stopped that immediately.
The Padres play in Petco Park. By contract, they have to say "dog shit". What delicious drama. This really started in the off season when no one would sign Profar and all he could get was a cool mill for a one year deal. He has a chip on his shoulder. Then you get Smith calling him irrelevant.
@@bc5852 yeah so? He hit a huge home run, after they undermined him thinking he's an easier out. He has all the right to celebrate like a winner. There is no other sport where players get so upset and angry about a celebration.. If you don't want the other team to celebrate play harder and win. It's just that baseball has normalized a culture of preserving the fragile little egos of the players especially the pitchers/catchers, that shit like this is even considered okay by so many people. "Oh.. i didn't like you celebrating the amazing win you had last night so let me throw this hard rock like substance at near 100mph directly at your shins!!" Fuck that!
@@bc5852 I'm all about the unwritten rules - but a little celebrating after a game-winning double after they walked someone to face you sounds fine to me. These guys are making huge money to play a game. They can act like adults out there.
What pisses me off the most is knowing for a fact that, just like any other pitcher and catcher, if Harvey had gotten that last strikeout they would have been jumping up and down, yelling and celebrating just as hard as Profar did.
@@platapus112 It was ruled a single since Profar did not touch 2nd base. He ran to his teammates to celebrate after touching 1st. Also, there is no such thing as an "automatic double". You still have to touch the bases. Therefore, my comment "Single, technically" is correct.
Nats start shit and actually get physical with profar then warnings are issued after benches clear then profar gets hit by the very next pitch and the padres manager gets tossed?
Totally baffling. The Nats publicly said they were mad at Profar. Their catcher cleared the benches going after him. They hit him on the very first pitch he saw... after warnings were issued. It was a fastball. And the umps decide "welp, it seems like it was on accident. oh well."
The fact that assaulting someone with a projectile, let alone for no others reason then not liking how the other team celebrates, is so normalized in baseball is so fucking nausiating. If we know pitchers are doing this on purpose, then they are commiting a fucking crime. Why aren't they arrested on the spot?
Was waiting for this. Loved it. Thanks. Go Pads!!! I just would have liked to hear Jimmy’s opinion about the garbage move by Ruiz to talk to Profar. Ruiz a young player who has done nothing in this league talking to a ten year vet who is the best hitting outfielder in the NL now
On top of that, the Padres didn’t even react all that much to it. Machado just stepped in and said hey that’s enough and the Nats went off for that. Nats are playing the weak villain role in this series for sure.
First being called irrelevant, then hitting a double to put the Padres in the lead the next game against the Dodgers. Now getting disrespected, then getting the walk-off, and a grand slam the next game. Profar out here thriving of the negativity.
That was a top tier breakdown. I cackled at two separate parts, and the narrative was perfect for someone who didn't watch these games. Jomboy continues to deliver!
This guy is seriously a treasure, I don't follow baseball whatsoever but I watch all of his videos. If you asked me what profar was before this breakdown, I would have guessed a new pill from pfizer.

I’ve seen just about every single one of Jomboy’s breakdowns but this might take the cake. Was one of the longest ones I’ve seen but at the end I just wanted more. Chefs Kiss🥂
Way to misrepresent what happened. They dont want him to just walk away. Celebrating would be fine but don't come at the other team directly and expect no response.
@@zephyrast3036 don’t give up a walk off. Problem fixed. Take your medicine and play the next game. No different than a bat flip and a K strut. Both directly in the face of the opponent you just beat.
