Hey there, Ming! Whassup? Hope you're well and enjoying the weekend - it was about time the weekend rolled in. I really don't want to sound like a broken record, but I definitely enjoy and appreciate the way you teach American English. Your idea to tell fairytale stories in your next videos sounds like freaking awesome. On a side note, not sure if you ever thought about becoming a therapist, but every time I listen to your explanations, I kind of get this vibe that you have a knowledge in psychology or anything of the sort - and I'm saying this as a compliment ☺ Last, but not least, I recently browsed over your 1-on-1 classes on your website. Once the dollar FX rate drops off a bit, I think I might be able to have classes with you (but, of course, I'll be sure to reach out to you in advance to request a free trial lesson before I can buy lessons) - hopefully in the not-too-distant future. Take care, and have a good one!
Hey, how's it going? I'm a new follower. I'm from Brazil and I absolutely loved your channel. Are you also on IG? Btw, I believe this is the most effective way to learn English (or any language). By comprehensive and compelling input. Your content is awesome.
Two fascists because of whom millions of people died? Hitler and Mussolini!? You included their photo in your video as an example of charismatic leaders?!?!
I said "authoritarian leaders can be charismatic." That's actually how they get into the positions they get into. Serial killers also have a reputation for being charismatic. Psychopaths too. It's not a controversial idea. I'm wondering, have you never considered the relationship between charisma and evil people, or are you just looking for something to be mad about?
No, Anming, I'm not looking for a reason to just get angry:) And I really like your lessons. In one of your videos, you mentioned that if someone doesn’t like Dostoevsky, then that person needs to reconsider the values in his life. And this worldview is very close to me. And yes, I've thought more than once about how terrible criminals can be incredibly charming. But you didn't say any of this. That's why the photo of these killers as examples of charismatic leaders upset me so much. If you had commented in the lesson that charisma does not necessarily equal conscience, honesty, etc., it would not be such a shock and would, even more, explain the subtle shades of the word. It is clear that you are completely not on their side, but... in a context as good as yours, it would be more appropriate to reference other leaders as an example. But this, of course, is just my opinion.
