I'll admit, I never considered using it as a recovery anchor, that seems like it might come in handy. However, I would definitely disagree with the idea of an E-tool deflecting bullets. You *might* get lucky with a .22 short or .25 ACP, but I think common 9mm cartridges would punch through it.
I totally agree. I now realize that I did a mistake by not mentioning what I exactly meant by "small caliber". In theory, it is needed a steel plate of at least 4.7 mm of AR500 steel to stop an ordinary 9 mm. Regardless of the steal type and heat treatment, this shovel blade is only about 3 mm thick. It can surely stop the small caliber Kolibri and I think it can also deflect a .22 LR. But everything that is larger than that, such as 9 mm or .45 ACP would easily penetrate through it.
