Russia is finally, deciding to do something about that, in its defense, and yes, best interests. So, again, who escalated first? Europe. Who complains now? Europe. Europe will have to understand, its neighbor is _entitled_ to its defense and because the West, Finland and Lithuania included, have breathed fire but never tried to talk to Russia, what could've been solved via diplomacy, now plays in a much different tune.
