Right around 16 minutes you talk about how Shinobi no Jutsu is essentially embedded in all other arts and I figured that out myself because when I was a kid I wanted to be a ninja like a lot of boys, but I never let go of it, so I was training martial arts, parkour, bushcraft and the like until I joined the military and I'm not unconvinced that I'm not doing it more or less correctly because in my head I'm using modern equivalents of the same skills a shinobi would use if they had access to the knowledge and information we do today. I love to read your books and see how to apply the historical knowledge to my modern endeavors.
It's amazing the sheer number of scrolls that you have accumulated for academic study. Equally amazing are the scrolls you have planned to transcribe. Natori-Ryu history is in good hands. Well done.
You are a phenomenal researcher, Mr. Cummins Please keep up the good work on your search to find more historically accurate information on Samurai and Shinobi--- I am always eagerly waiting for the new information you present at hand about these two genuinely lethal Medieval Japanese warriors and spies!
Great work Antony. From what I've seen of your videos, those who despise you are likely suffering from their own demons. I enjoy your commentary, would only recommend watching the speed at which you speak. It's easy to speak too fast being excited about all this interesting data, but for those of us with only mediocre hearing, can sometimes be hard to follow. Thanks for everything you're doing! I'll look forward to learning more!
Just because you don’t like something doesn’t mean you’re suffering from demons. That’s ridiculous. Everyone has the right to not like someone. To associate that with mental issues is irrational
Just joined natori ryu! And ordered both those books today! Already own a few other books and love them! Im looking forward to my entry corse and exam! Koma member # 194

Hello Anthony... Very impressed with your work and way of thinking. I live in Japan and I'm looking for something more the usual dōjō stuff. I'm more interested in Katori Shinto Ryu type of study, but they seem to be over in Kanto mostly. Is your Natori Ryu group active in Japan? I'd be very interested. Don't know how to make contact with you, as I well appreciate you keep a low social profile. Can I contact you via your Natori Ryu website, please? Many thanks.
you can also ask this same question in his latest video that he puts out. You have higher chances of receiving a response from him potentially. Another option is type in the youtube search bar - Antony cummins book of five rings, or Antony cummins Miyamoto Musashi, see if anything pops up! Hopefully that helps you get the answers you seek!
I forgot to mention. Antony wants everyone new to the channel to start by watching his 2020 documentary if you haven't done so already given this is an old comment.
Hi Antony hope you are well. I was wondering what it would cost to order these 2 books in hardcover from you and have them signed? I am collecting all of your books slowly and I'd really appreciate owning a signed copy 🙂 thank you for your time 🙏
I am happy someone is translating these old scrolls, and dispelling ninja misconceptions, however I feel that your marketing position is a bit overdone. These scrolls and info are great historical studies, but they are what ppl call dead knowledge, while kenjitsu are considered living knowledge. Any living knowledge is bound to change with time, Gunpo which means the way of military, or art of war are a specific study intended for the military ppl of that era, when warfare no long requires samurai and ninjas, its only natural that all the Ko ryus adapted into martial art systems, there is really little if any practical purpose in studying how warfare was conducted during feudal Japan, other than self interest and historical study. My point is there is really no need to step down on modern Ko ryu kenjitsu in order to make your book more appealing, and the fact that most Ko ryus of modern era do not bother with Gunpo is not an issue at all, and no one is going to become masters of Gunpo just from reading your books, in fact they cant even be semi decent at Kenjitsu just by reading books, so although modern Ko ryus lack full Gunpo study, but in practice they are still going to be far superior at swordsmanship than some random person reading your books. These books at best provide interesting background knowledge to warfare of that era, it cannot replace the actual teaching of a qualified Kenjitsu teacher, so even though modern Kenjitus may have changed and is not what it use to be, it is still the closest thing to authentic swordsmanship and should not be looked down or talked down upon in order to make your books more appealing.
Great video! QUESTION: could you make a video about what kind of martial arts would different types of ninjas know? Like... I guess a samurai who is also a ninja may know some jujutsu and probably some "chinese boxing" (since knowing chinese stuff was related to status, ive read it in "the book of ninja") but what would ashigaru ninjas know? And common thieves turned ninjas? What would a "civilian" be able to learn?
I mean, yeah, most of the times it would be useless, but i doubt there was NO hand to hand training at all, having in mind modern soldiers train in them and most fights are at very long distances xD Also, ive heard somewhere(not real trust worthy) that a sport similar to sumo may have been taught to soldiers(since, if you can throw him to the ground, you just need to stab them, not bother with locks)
hi. I never said they did not. They did! :) but it was low on the agenda. They would study any school near them, what ever it was or their family arts.
There certainly was no ninja martial art. Hand-to-hand combat would have been one of many fighting arts learned. Most modern martial arts teach one-on-one fighting, however, war is not fought one-on-one, it's hundreds-on-hundreds. So, one of the most relevant martial arts for war would be ikijutsu, but it's not the best for one-on-one fighting, so it's not a great self-defense martial art, but it is useful for war. If you are looking for one martial art to learn how samurai and ninja would fight, then try ikijutsu, but don't think that is will be your best option out on the street.

If you want a book on modern ninjas start with Sherlock Holmes novels. The business is known to authorities and they send the person seeking justice to the Place of business and ask for the Shinobi that found justice for another family. 2 me interview with questions and then decide if and how they will help and what they will need to be successful and or payment. Most all communication is done in secret and then justice is served as is possible or not. Often failure was death. Often the jobs were traps and another associate with actual social rank is aware of what is happening in order to prevent the clan from being destroyed Alla Oda Nobunaga genecide.

Strange that he says that you can´t identify Shinobi no jutsu. It rests and connects into everything as he says. But how can he then say that Bujinkan is fake or claimants as he has later said?
@@jeremyarroyo360 Well there are so many things that are strange I think. They may say that Takamatsu and Hatsumi are frauds and that Frank Dux and Ashida Kim are the real deal. With everything I´ve seen and become knowledgeable about, I would say that both Takamatsu and Hatsumi are far more creative and ressourcefull than anyone I´ve seen. They may have "violated" some principles for what is considered good Budo, but I don´t think what have come out of it is bad nor fake. They represent the holistic truth about their art and "the art" more than anything else that is fragmentaric in comparison. They have sought the truth, trained and developed it to the level of their maximum capability. To develop something that´s not there in the art and obtain it in the art is what should be done, not reject it and say that everything that is not part of the curriculum/syllabus is nonexistent and not Ninjutsu. So if something new and valuable is created or discovered we automatically reject it per reflex. That´s quite arrogant I think. That sounds like to say that we don´t have to evolve because we are already perfect.
@@AntonyCummins I only wish to learn the historical aspects, much like yourself. Let me rephrase since that's not a real thing. Will you be teaching the history of other weapons besides the sword? Thank you for your time as always.

I am just curious if the Iga and Koga clans existed as is usually claimed by any research that is done on ninjas. I know it has been said they usually resided in the mountains and practiced their arts. Is this factual from what you have researched?
Try asking him this question on his latest video. You might have a higher chance of getting a response from him. Also try in the youtube search bar - Antony Cummins did Iga and Koga exist. I just did that and a few videos popped up. Check those out first and see if they answer your question! If they don't try posting this question on his most current video. He is very interactive with subscribers.
Unfortunately I don't think so. Do ask him this question on his most current video. You have a higher chance of interacting with him on his newest videos. He is very interactive with his subscribers.
That is blasphemous in asian culture unquestioning your sensai is a disrespect or could cost you your life literally in certain clans or adopted espichally if one was adopted by one cause the family was poor this is why teachers are held to a high regard. They were surrogate/adopted parents. I feel bujinkan followers should study more as well give Antonio's book a look to increase there training knowledge.
Taijutsu is a pretendy martial art borrowing striking and grappling elements from other martial arts. A boxer with one years worth of experience would destory any of those black clad charlatans.
The book of Ninja, true path of the ninja, iga and koka ninja skills, ninja skills, secret traditions of the shinobi, but you need to also get the book of samurai series
Like that! haha. Start with ninja skills for basic intro, Book of Ninja for main or Iga and Koka Ninja Skills. For easy understanding get Ninja Skills and Iga and Koka Ninja Skills
your mr cummins it have fit side your mind get the learning you want i still studdy it and fit in field it hard work not ez an it dose work grass buning part of smoke screen tactic
I could boil down Shinobido for you but I'd be breaking rule number 0... because a list of rules is counter culture. This much I will tell you. The Shinobi first took a child and made him an enduring blade of a man, then they made that man into a shadow. Kagemusha or just Kage were the original terms used by your samurai families to refer to Shinobi. If they use the. Term Ninja they are fakes. Shinobi no mono were pre Oniwaban spies. That's all. No such thing as invincible black magic punch of death cults. Sorry. I think you gravitated to this stuff because others have made mucho money in the tourist biz.
