Both of your opponents were making you want to overextend because they were drawing you forward by matching steps as you stepped to them. The curse of being a tall fighter is the natural assumption that you can make up the distance with just a little more lean, which often gets us into trouble when it doesn't work. You may be interested in timing your advances with your opponent's step into range so that there's a moment where they can't retreat. I think people fight from an over extended position when they are intimidated by a fighter's B range. It could also be due to Murdock's fighting style drawing you into chasing him, has you conditioned into already being in that extended chasing stance.
