Boil the flaxseed inside of the strainer while in the pot. No panty hose needed, no extra separation needed, no squeezing necessary 😊 1/4 cup of seeds to 4-6 cups of water on medium-high heat for 25-30 mins. The less cup of water the thicker so if you want it super thick 3 cups of water should be good. Boil, remove strainer, pour in jar instantly & let thicken in jar. Wam bam thank you ma'am lol so glad I learned to boil it in the strainer while in the pot cause the panty hose sock thing is annoying.
Emma Corrouthers apparently you can freeze em in ice trays or whatever & use em when necessary. I've never done that before. Or it last in the fridge for about a wk or 2. I just recently started making it so I still gotta test stuff out. But I say only make what you're going to use in that week. Smaller batches. It's so easy to make when you're ready for more you can just simply make some more so no need to odee lol
I boil 1/2 cup flaxseeds 4 cups water 30mins or so and pour it straight into a metal strainer. It strains straight through. So much quicker and easier.
Yes you dont need stockings, once the flaxseed thickens in the pot and still on fire, turn off the stove and transfer it right away in a jar using a strainer, the outcome would be the same, again you dont need stockings,, the gel will thicken more once it gets cold, or heat the flaxseed more longer or put more flaxseeds if you really want it very very thick
Great video! I have been making flaxseed gel for almost two years now, and I love how you can add basically whatever you want to it!!!! I usually add rosemary oil to help stimulate hair growth, and if you strain it while hot, you will get a smoother consistency especially if you plan on adding any extra oils. The heat helps to merge the oils and gel. I usually use a pair of tongs to help squeezed my gel through my pantyhose, so I don't burn my hands.
When I make mines I try to not let the consistency while boiling the flax seed get too thick . I like mines gooey but I always make sure to only allow the consistency to be more watery than thick. In order to just put it in the strainer and the flaxseed to separate itself on its own with having to use a pantyhose and without burning myself. And since I like my gel to be thick, I put the gel that has been separated from the seed back into the pot and leave it there to cool about 30-40 min. And the gel becomes thicker and is the same consistency throughout the whole gel.
I grew up drinking flaxseed drink, especially on Sundays made by my mother. It was sweetened with condensed milk, vanilla, nutmeg and ice. Deelish!! Didn't realize it was the same thing we called llinseed back then.
I have grown in Miracle Gro potting soil. It had no smell. The ones in the ground have some mild scent. I put banana peels in the soil. My plants are monster size in Texas. Thank you for the video.
Also, I took the potato peeler and shaved both sides to remove the thorns. Cut in smaller segments and juiced the whole thing in my Nutri Bullet. I did the boiled flaxseed first, then aloe. Completely smooth like a smoothie. I don't know what happened to the seed husks, I didn't strain. The Tea Tree and Peppermint oil are great suggestions! Thanks!
Great video! The first I've seen mixing the aloe & flax seed gels together. I use both regularly but never mixed them before. FYI... I strain the flax seed gel while its hot, just pour into the strainer over a glass container, then let it cool. It will still thicken while its cooling with the seeds already removed.
Aloe Vera plant a God send. Many healthy uses.. Embrace the smell, stickiness, all these qualities are what makes it magic. And we benefit greatly from it 😅
only one tblspn flax seed mix with one full glass of water and pressure cook for two or three whistle then leave it for five minutes then strain it ...its more quick and also mix Aloe Vera gel in it...enjoy both together.
Great video! You should have strained the aloe vera too. And strain the flaxseed mixture while still hot using tongs. Also cut off the side needles on the aloe, then cut into 2 inch pcs. It will save you a lot of time. Overall, good job young lady.😁👍
You must have a bad aloe leaf, it should have no odor at all. I use aloe leaf for my face, hair and add it to smoothies, no smell at all. The way you cut it, you wasted some of the gel.
Yeah, I was thinking the exact same thing, too. Also, she didn't take the other green pieces of the aloe vera plant out. I also notice she was TOO IMPATIENT AND LESS CONCERNED as she was demonstrating. My opinion is: why do a demo when you're NOT interested?
I agree. All I did slice the prickly edges and slice the side and it open. I didn’t smell any terrible smell either. I got all gel and No pieces of the plant in my mixture at all. So if it does smell then yes she is correct to add a few drops of peppermint or whatever. I appreciate her sharing her video .
There's more than 1 type of aloe Vera. The store bought aloe has been modified to noy produce a smell while wild aloe does have a strong arm pit feet smell to protect it self and as a reaction to being hurt.
You could have just cut it even halves lengthways, then scoop out from both sides. You waste alot of time with trying to cut off the skin of the aloe vera.
if you strain the flaxseed gel after is boiling when is still very hot it is way easier than using the piece of fabric if you don't have it or didn't find it.
Great video Sis. However I would NOT use an aluminum pot, or one that was chipping like that. Some people are sensitive to aluminum, as I am. If you are cooking food in that pot, YOU ARE EATING ALUMINUM, and it's poisoning you slowly. If you use a deodorant and feel irritated under your arms....it's the aluminum in it!!! You can find deodorant without aluminum in it===NO MORE ITCHING UNDER ARMS. It's absorbed into ANY skin ! I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, this video, and will recommend it to others. I am a cosmetologist for over 30 years, and have worked with multiple skin reactions to products. Please use a Stainless Steel pot or a Glass pot, to avoid this issue. God's Blessings to all of you.

Ok...the smell really comes from the green skin of the aloe vera leaf. Freshly cut aloe leaves bleed a yellow-green substance that smells like strong perspiration...it is also quite bitter. The gell itself has no taste. You could "pulse" the mixture in a blender for a more thorough integration of all the ingredients.
Sister... just a suggestion.. Easier and you get more gel if you cut prickly part off each side. Slice in 4 quarters, cut open each slice and get gel out with a spoon.
I put the aloe gel in a mini prep rather than whisk and then strain it also or you have pieces of aloe in your hair. I put rosemary oil and pumpkin seed oil in the mix. No one is staying how much to put on and how long to leave in your hair???
What a nasty thing to imply about her being challenged , however I agree it did look a bit difficult straining the flax seed , but the snide comment about being challenged was just uneeded extra
Super great video! I’m definitely going to try it. I find that when i but aloe from the store it does not have that smell but when i cut it directly from my plant it does smell gross, super weird.
New subbie here thanks for this going to try this no matter what I use my hair is dry and brittle and cause breakage and won't grow pass my shoulders going to give this a go!
Also makes an excellent foot spa and hand spa treatment for Friday or Saturday night rubbing the feet together while writing, journaling, and reading. I too noticed how extremely soft my hands after squeezing the flaxseed from the cheesecloth. For my hair, I shall incorporate cacay oil, extra virgin olive oil, and coconut oil along with tea tree oil, peppermint oil, and rosemary oil.
I bought sum & didn't smell. And will try but will be using a ground seed superblend with coconut... It consists of ground flax chia hemp & coconut all of it is ground.. So would think be easier & faster to mix...
The way you take the gel is cutting the two sides first and then with a spoon or nife you removed the gel that is the easy way. that way you don't waste aloe vera.
I usually strain the Aloe Gel ( after I blend it) because it will leave the hair with white residue, what was your experience with using the Aloe gel without straining it?
The smell is from the toxins in the yellowish substance when one initially cuts the plant. Once it's cut the substance will drain if allowed overnight.

I love aloe plants! I recently bought some from Whole Foods! That gel looks so soft and gooey lol. I just may make some. I’m intrigued. Looks so hydrating also! Ytqueens
ATHIRA PRASANNAN In this video it’s not used as a mask, it’s used as a hair styling gel, so we don’t rinse it but leave it in. Coconut milk masks are good for smoothing the hair.
Lolllll actually there are different types of aloès, some with no smell and some with strong odor, some clear white n some a bit light yellow (light oil color)
