Hii my loves! I’m so happy to be back on here, I missed yall BAD! RU-vid unexpectedly became a place where I feel safe and loved, so I thank you for all the kindness you’ve shown me. Even though I may not respond to them all, I do read your comments and I’m so grateful. Besides the support, I also see the more saddening comments which led me to create this video. I’m sending SO much love and healing. The bullying and trauma that a lot of people experience because others dislike their natural hair isn't talked about enough or taken seriously. I’m dedicating this video to anyone who needs it. I don’t care how corny, cheesy, or sappy it may seem, I’m SO serious. Others may have been rough or spoke down on your hair, but you can abandon that mindset and adopt a healthier method of natural haircare, one filled with lots of TLC! - Yar

Watching this broke me down to tears. Girl we’re hair twins! Got to a point where I had to loc my hair to avoid dealing with its 4C-ness and now I’m thinking about loosening it again. But thought I’d do some research this time, not realising that this was what I needed the most. Love for my hair in whatever shape. Thank you for sharing this and giving “us” a face.

The part when the voices were saying all those mean things hit too close to home. I almost felt like crying lol but tysm for sharing your experience because it’s nice to see that people have went through the same things. I sometimes forget it’s not only me. I love the emphasis on loving your hair exactly the way it is because so many 4c videos are about altering it or being annoyed it. keep spreading your message on here and your amazing blog because you’ve really changed my perspective on self love 💕 💕

Thanks for the help! Hair trauma is real in the black community and just by one person or video put out at a time, we can plant the seeds around the world to start loving and understanding our hair more. Loving our hair in its most authentic and unmanipulated state is also a form of activitism against anti-blackness.

You are sooo Beautiful Black Queen! 👑 I love this video and all it embodies and I am proud of you for being PROUD✊🏾 To All my Black Sisters: Our hair is a symbol of our Power, to try to make our hair or any part of ourselves like the melanin deficient gives them what they want. DONT. Theyve wanted to be us since the beginning, God made no mistakes in the way He made you, you are handcrafted, intentional, and SO LOVED🖤 Pour into yourself and remember: BLACK is BEAUTIFUL🙌🏾

This is one of the most beautiful and healing videos I've ever seen. I love how cinematic it is too! I'm definitely going to keep this one on loop before I wash my hair 💕 4C hair is like a pretty fluffy cloud, it's a shame Eurocentric standards have brainwashed people into thinking it's not beautiful. Thank you for the reminder to check out your blog - the thoughts in your posts are amazing and very relatable!

Thank you so much for this, this is just what I needed. I’m finally accepting my hair and embracing simplicity in taking care of it, but even in that I have recently treated my hair as some problem to solve when it comes to taking care of it: Being heavy handed to be efficient/fast, or only focusing on how to make washing as effective as possible) This mindset has actually slowed me down and made washing more stressful. No matter what happens when I wash my hair, I always feel satisfied when I go into it loving my hair and wanting to make it healthy and happy. This reminded me of that and I’m going to go wash my hair rn lol

This is beautiful, it needs to be put up as a natural hair movement ad ❤❤. I'm from South Africa and I have 4c hair, and ever since I was young I used force with my hair because that's the only way i knew how thanks to my mom hurting me everytime she tried to style it when i had to go to school. And whenever i would cry and try to tell her that she's hurting me she'd just scold me and tell me to cut it if i dont like being hurt and hearing that, that would hurt me as a kid and I'd bear the pain so she doesn't tell me to cut it again, because I've hated the idea of cutting my hair even today i still hate that idea. Knowing that you need force in order to deal with my hair, but looking at this I felt a sense of guilt that I treated my hair with such harshness growing up not knowing that being gentle was the thing, I even did locs because I hated how much my hair would hurt whenever someone was doing my hair or when I tried doing something to my hair. But looking back I and the people who touched my hair could've been much more gentler with it. Thank you so much for this, I now know exactly how to treat my hair when I get rid of my locs ❤❤. This made my day honestly, thank you ❤

This reminds me of an essay I wrote for English class one day. If you want you can read it down below❤🙂 I had done my hair, but this time, it was done without any extensions at all. This time it was all my real hair. Though I thought my hair was short because it was so curly that it would shrink up, whenever it was doused with water, my hair would be weighed down and hopefully look longer and maybe even move when I swung my hair. In the year 2020 I went to the lake for a ‘Fourth of July BBQ’ to celebrate with my family and friends. I thought my hair looked pretty and was proud to go outside with it just as it was, especially to the lake that day, so that I could wet my curly hair. In the afternoon, after I returned home from the BBQ. I rested calmly on one of the couches in our living room. Soon after that, my auntie approached me. She asked me about me getting my hair done. She wasn’t insulting me. She asked with genuine intent. Yet I was bothered by the question. I thought my hair was already done, and that it was already beautiful. Apparently we had two different Ideas of what 'done' hair looked like. Furthermore, different generations of black people have different opinions and ideas on tightly coiled hair. It tends to be the older generation of black people nowadays who prefer their hair neatly done in braids/plaits with extensions or straight/straightened hair. Not necessarily plaits of their natural curly hair; especially if their hair is short, like my hair was. As a black girl with coily hair, if you do not wear your hair in a certain format, your hair might be called nappy, or unkempt. In my case it was, without ill-intent, a woman, in essence, telling me my hair wasn’t done, after I had just done it. So I was confused and shocked. In the 90s the relaxer was very popular. The relaxer was used to take curly hair and make it permanently straight. As relaxer sales have gone down since around then, today it is more widely-accepted for a black girl to wear her hair curly even if it is tightly coiled. As the new generation of black people are accepting and wearing their hair as it naturally is, hopefully the older generation of black people who think this way and anyone who might have the idea in their head that black hair is not ’done’ if it is not loosely curled, straight, or just because it wasn’t plaited with extensions may change their opinions for the better..

Thank you, I just heard about in a reddit post and came your channel. I was supposed to go out with grandma just now, I got my hair ready. I've been learning to let it keep the natural texture instead of fully picking it out and making it look like this perfect globe, which it isn't. Sbe made it a problem saying : are you gonna get it done, dreads? Braids? Or are you gonna cut it. But you need to shape it up it doesn't look that good. Just going on and on about my hair. Just what the he'll is wrong with my hair texture? What makes It look bad?

Can you please do a video on how to trim 4c hair or like the way that you would trim your hair. Some people straighten then trim in a certain way. But I know some people don’t like using heat. I’m honestly just curious on what you think is the best way to safely trim 4c hair even without heat, because I know it’s possible but I just think it’s more difficult because of the curls and shrinkage. I’m not sure if you use heat or not to trim.
@yarsudani
@yarsudani 8 месяцев назад
hi, I blow dry my hair and go to a professional stylist to trim, she charges about $20! Ideally I'd go every 6-8 weeks but it usually ends up being every 3-4 months lol. the next time I go, likely March, I'll try to film the process! x
