Natural Hair| Which one makes hair grow faster, braids or twists? 

My hair loves twists. My high density, 4C hair grows with twists and tends to break with braids

Twists are the answer for me. They are easier, faster to make, and gentle to my scalp. I dont shampoo or deep condition witn them on cuz I find that my hair does "matte up", but the same aplies to braids.... So on wash days I would only have "free hair" and on the week to follow it would be a bun of 10 twists or so. At least its what works for me - college student and lazy natural :b Great video btw!

Hair would grow at the same rate in either braids or twists however it may be more manageable to use braids since they last longer even with being washed there would be less tangling to deal. That means less manipulation when it comes to detangling which helps length retention. Those with fine hair may work out better in twists because sometimes braiding can be too much for that hair.

Braids are my go TO ! Twist made me get single strand knots and lots of tangles . Even when washing my hair. With braids I never experience that and I retain so much length plus they last longer

I'm so glad I'm not alone here, I love twists for aesthetic value but I love braids for maitanance and growing my hair

braids r going to be your answer. It isn't growth rate but Retention of the growth you do achieve with the style.

So far I like twists, I do my twists every week with my shampoo, I have fine low porosity hair. So I load up the conditioner when I do my twists and I find that it just looks so much better with my face. There's a certain way you have to undo the twist to not lose hair. You can't add pieces midway to make it even you have to separate it initially to not have the breakage. I wash my hair in the twist and gently untwist and retwist.

I know You Love braids the most. I do braids whenever I want strech hair. I Love twist because of the fullness It give Yo M hair. Everytime I do braids I feel very scalpy. SO If I have braids in then I Will be wearing a wig for that week.

I agree with you.i have the same issue with twist.And braids I have a less tangling TFS.

I think I'm doing the braids this winter. I usually twist my hair in big twists but after 2 days they're looking old. I've been hair lazy so braiding my hair will be better for me for a while

I love wearing loose 2 strand twists because they are easy to install, take down, are nice and full looking.

I used to favour braids but mini twists are easier to put in and honestly are just a lot prettier and easier to style & it only tangles if i don't stretch it after washing. Takedown and installation are also easier. As a style, i prefer mini twists but for stretching alone I use braids.

Braids collect a lot of buildup at the root really fast for me. I like twists.

I have high porosity 3c/4a hair and my hair doesn't like twists. My hair thrives with braids. Keeps the moisture locked it. No matter how I twist my hair. It always gets tangled

I guessed that you preferred braids. I also feel the same way, and agreed with the pros and cons for both. ☺

I love twists because of the ease of installing and takedown. Though I have to be careful when taking down the twists because they do tangle more at the root/base. I don't have the patience to install braids, even though I do like them too.

i just did mini braids vs mini twist and i prefer the braids. less frizz. :) I like leaving them in for a month at a time.

Twists are better for me, but I do a one-inch cornrow first, then twist my hair.

My hair is too short to braid, so I twist it. Also I have naturally uneven hair and twists help hide that better for me.

New sub, I have watched two of your videos and I love what I saw. Going to try and do braids in my hair and put perm rods on the end. I love twist but they don't last that long for me unless I let them hang down. Thanks for your information about the differences.

I prefer twists I'm a lazy natural can't b bothered with that extra work. But I do want to rock some mini braids soon just for a change. I did rock some mini twits not 2 long ago, which lasted a while. Then I washed my hair with them in, such a big mistake I was not thinking.... it took me hours to untangle the matted mess I even lost hairs never again. When I pre-pooed with oil I should have took them out, Then wash my hair in two deivided sections like I always do. Instead of wash day taking 6 hours it took 8 no word of a lie I nearly broken down and cried😕😒😓

Ah!! CurlyPearly, you were too cute with this! 😂 I knew from watching your vids that you liked braids, and yet I found myself going, "braids! She's gonna say braids! Oh no! Wait! She sounds like she's going to say twists!" 😂 cool video. Remember my match stick braids? Well I can now braid and and it does not look so match sticky. I prefer chunky twist so much easier and not so time consuming. I undo twist one at a time and prepoo with olive oil and re twist and shampoo my scalp, unravel all of them after shampooing and section hair into fours and deep condition/hot oil treatment and then re twist and sit under hair dryer for 30mins, unravel twist and rinse deep conditioner/hot oil treatment out and then allow hair to air dry 85% and then proceed to moisturize and style ☺️ my go to is chunky twist. Wigs occasionally because I can wear my wigs over my chunky twist ☺️☺️☺️
