Hey Jessica! ...nobody teaches this and it's soooo frustrating to me. I know my way around a camera pretty well, but some of these more technical types of tricks and effects are things I still have yet to conquer and really figure out. THANK YOU soooo much for doing this for us!! I would sure give the world for you to also do a couple of videos teaching us how to photograph sparkler exits, light trails with wedding reception dance photos, how to photograph those cigar smoke photos of the guys on wedding day, and how to get that hair spray shot when the bride is getting ready. I'd also love to learn how to do some of those trick photos that so many of you do on wedding days - the reflection, shooting through things, bokeh lights, ring shots with an extra fun flair, etc. A super fun photographer that does a lot of this stuff is Jason Martin with Concept Photography. This guy has some super cool photography tricks and effects and I still have yet to figure out how he does a lot of them.
Already learned so much if you Jessica. There are so many photographers out there who take soooo much money for this things you show for free. As if it s not about art no more but how to get more money in seconds. But in your eyes I see that passion they don't have. Thanks Jessica.
How do you get couples to pose so naturally! I've done couples shoots where it's almost like pulling teeth to get them comfortable to get close to one another 🤔
i really enjoy watching your tutorials - first of all because i really learn a lot from you and second because your way of connecting and communicating with your clients is just so very nice :) thanks a lot for uploading!
Jessica thank you so so much for this video! I am shooting my first wedding today and made detailed notes of this video plus a shot list, as you recommended. It was full of super helpful tips.
Lovely atmospheric work Jessica! Classic poses as well and you have such a friendly way of talking to the camera. I hope you don't mind me saying this (delete if inappropriate), just a simple off camera flash (no more than $150 dollars extra for the cheapest YN branded triggers and the cheap flash) would have added the facial definition you have added in Lighroom/Photoshop later, but leaving more detail on them. This was the advice I was given when I started out a few years ago. I personally recommend (particularly to anyone just starting out on couple portraits) to keeping the camera's metering mode to take account of the entire scene, so keep it to matrix which is the default for most, and then light up the faces with a simple off camera flash. Very simple but effective setup and definitely possible to carry out on a budget.
Awesome, Superb. Energetic and it made us easy to understand the techniques. This video has just kicked out the fear in me for shooting Bride and Groom. I love shooting what's in action, but always hesitated from this kind of shoot, which is way more awesome than I thought. Thank you Jessica.
Thanks Jess! This video was superinspiring. Made me feel so warm and fussy inside (meaning I'm inspired lmao)! Going to save this for when I need that inspo kick. And like previous ppl said: EDITING TUTORIAL! Lovely colors
What a wonderful video.! Great as always :) Thank you very much! You are so inspiring.. You even added the settings to the edited photos, that's awesome!
This video was great. Would you suggest this lens over the 24-70mm for shooting weddings? I already own a 50mm 1.4, but I'm helping out with a wedding this weekend, really just playing the background. I wanted to rent a longer lens to gain more experience with, but can't decide between the 35mm 1.4 or the 24-70mm 2.8 for just overall wedding shots. I've seen your videos on the lenses and love the look of both. Any suggestions?!!
gorgeous photos jessica. can you do a video on the issues you had or are dealing with in regards to color management? also, do you print any of your images yourself?
this was so good. tomorrow I can shoot my first wedding and I am so nervous. So this really helped me. I love your editing. Is there a possibility to buy some Lightroom presets for weddings? love your work xx
Thanks for all these tutorials! Some awesome shots and tips! Quick question... What's the advantage to shooting 160 iso? I always assumed when you have plenty of light and no fast moving subjects you'd shoot at 100 or as low as the camera will allow?
Are you using external flash or is it just the editing? if it is, how do you edit the photos. cause they look very amazing. thank you in advance. Love from Indonesia :)
My first question is are you using a 50mm 1.4? And I am in love your editings, is this in one of your presets/actions packages? By the way I love your videos, and thanks a lot for the free templates!
this is great for posing ideas etc, but i've got my first wedding and i'm still anxious and feel i need more info xD especially for indoor shots & while it's all crazy & busy!!
love your photography, did you only use available light, not flash or off camera flash or reflectors? also what lens did you use and aperture? thank you!
Girl! You are really awesome! I do the same thing as you do! And Also is one girl show! :) Love your explanation while you are doing photo! Good luck to us!
Hi Jes, a quick question. I'm confused that how is it possible to have these bright faces of this couple behind the sun and that to without any lights or a reflectors!!
I see that you are shooting towards the sun, but on the photos both of them are bright and i cant see you using a reflector. How do you make them so light? Is it all post prosessing and bumping up the shadows? Is it the camera that has a lot of information in the shadows?
Great video, well explained. Were you using the 24-70mm for the full body and the 85mm the close ups? You're a natural. Love that you did it all without extra lighting.
stoplossM4 I do have that knowledge. I complemented the woman who made this video on creating the shots 'without extra lighting.' Stop trolling the internet pretending to know strangers. You can't even read basic sentences and are obviously very unhappy about your life because you take your anger out on strangers. Thats your problem, not mine. Adios.
Hi Jessica! Just found your videos. I noticed you had some cars in the background in some photos, do you typically leave them or would you edit them out? Have you ever noticed whether your clients mind or even notice objects in the background like that? When I do shoots I feel like I'm always hyper aware of background objects because I'm still learning how to delete them in post, but perhaps my clients don't even notice those details
Briana Grim I'm always worried about the same thing, trying to get the simplest background so it doesnt distract from the main focus, I've noticed that Jessica doesn't worry about the background too much, also because the aperture can help lots, but one tip of hers I've adopted myself is to place like a crystal over the car or thing you don't want to be shown and it'll create a light in that part so it isn't visible. I guess is just a matter of style!
Hi Jessica. Do you have an on matrix metering? I am shooting a friends wedding outside and I was thinking of using my flash to fill in the face if it’s too bright… Too much contrast to brite in the background
how do you focus? what mode do you use? i don't get how can you still change focus because you work so fast and another thing: how do you have focus on both since the camera has only one focus point . i am a beginner thanks
Amazing! I can usually tell what lens someone is shooting with from the photos, I'm not sure here. Which lens do you find the most useful for these shoots?
