Callaloo is kinda similar to spinach and can be prepared in the same way. Very rich and healthy vege. High in iron for the ladies. Can be added to meat or other vegies and simmered with onions peppers etc. Its delicious.
I am having the problem with keeping the bugs away. The leaves are beautiful and deep green and its upsetting that the bugs are enjoying them. I'm deterred of pesticides so any natural home remedies you may recommend would be helpful. The rosters are a hoot! You don't need an alarm clock with a roster around because they start crowing at any sign of daybreak :).
Omgosh my neighbors roosters started crowing while I was watching your video! Hahaha too funny! I always wonder what they're saying! Lol great vid! Thank you from California.
You’re a good teacher with a nice calm voice. Your plants are awesome. Is this vegetable like spinach? Or greens. Never heard of it. Thank you for another great vid! 👍 Blessing! Have a wonderful day!
Great video. My calalloo free so we'll buy I only ate 1 meal from them. The worms ate them all. The bugs and worms here in central Florida don't play. I never heard of that other thing you mentioned with the neem. What's that? Parethi?
I know this is old, but if you take your DE and put it in a bag and close a straw into the opening and put a rubber band around the straw in the opening you can go around and blow the DE, would probably speed up the application... just make it look like a bagpipe...
Can you tell me please what i can use to prevent my callaloo leaves ? My plants are doing well, allthough i see some holes on my leaves. I prefer no chemicals. Hope you can help me out. Thanks , one perfect love
Funny I am watching this now. I went out to buy Sevin to treat my calaloo plants today. They are filled with bugs holes. Thanks always for you insightful videos.
@@humbleservantshomestead7974 I sprayed my callaloo with the Sevin and I was shocked to see the amount of Colorado Beetles dying. My callaloo are small but full of holes, should I cut the leaves off what? What do you suggest? Your expertise would be appreciated.
Dee dont cut the leaves off. I usually leave those leaves on the ones I keep for the house. Unfortunately the customers don't like the holes! You really have to stay on top of the spraying especially after a good rain because the bugs are standing by ready to eat your plants up. As you begin to harvest, and continue to treat on a routine, the next round of leaves will be fine
Miztri We have been growing callaloo for many years now and we save seeds each year. These were originally brought back from Jamaica some years ago. Send us an email at humbleservantshomestead@gmail.com
