Natural vs. Synthetic Oil Painting Brushes - The Difference | Draw Mix Paint 

Mark Carder is the man. I think i understand why so many beginner artists create such chalky, over blended flat paintings. They go for the "high quality" synthetic brushes which only compounds their stiffness.

What brand of oil paint you like or do you make your own oil paints?

Does it bother you that living creatures have to die for you to have your preferred brush? Just asking.

It's almost like you're borrowing the innate natural quality of the brush to transfer it onto the painting and ultimately into the (natural) feeling you're trying to achieve. Absolutely fascinating and insightful. From my own craft, I immediately recognised the "diving into details" of methods and techniques, the fact that you can talk for an entire evening talking about types of brushes, polishing compounds or types of hand planes, it truly makes our work magical... ...perhaps because it gives a glimpse at the scope of what you could make... Great stuff!
