Fungal acne really is such a stubborn skin condition. I had my first round of it a few years ago and it took up to 6 months to clear up because I ignored my diet. This time around I'm seeing the rash fade away quicker now that I'm being more mindful of my gut and eating more anti-inflammatory foods. I tried as many topical treatments as I could think of (different AHAs, acne treatments like salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide, clay masks, physical exfoliants, retinoids, the infamous nizoral shampoo mask ect.) and when all of them showed no improvement I did some research and focusing on improving my gut health. Which is already beginning to clear up my face. I hadn't thought about omitting yeasty products until it was mentioned. At first I just cut out excessively processed foods (including most yeast products, excessive sugars, saturated fats) and that only helped a bit, but when I started incorporating more whole grains and antioxidant rich foods - I noticed the bumps faded a bit more. I think you're onto something! Hoping more people can save their skin from the inside out rather than wishing on a topical treatment solely. I look forward to trying out the foods you suggested (especially the bone broth!). The snack recommendations are especially helpful, I love that they are more mindful option to satisfying a craving. It's easy to eat healthy, but snack healthy? Still struggling (but after this video, a little less).

@kajal6585 5 лет назад
@@thebeautifulone5593 Hello! Since my goal is "fixing my gut", I make sure that each all three meals are omitting processed food and incorporating anti-inflammatory foods. I also take Probiotics, fish oil (omega 3s to balance out the omega 6s) twice a day, and try to drink a low-sugar kombucha for an extra boost of probiotics and antioxidants. Sleep is another aspect to consider. It's difficult to manage a sleep schedule, but I notice improvement in my skin on the weeks I somehow managed to operate according to a natural 24-hr circadian rhythm rather than a non-24hr style of sleeping. Diet changes and skincare would be 2/3 of the equation. Sleep is remaining quantity! Best of wishes to you (+ your gut and skin!)

I love you guys and you guys always have very informative videos, but I just wanted to clarify that PUFAs shouldn't be grouped as bad. They definitely are not as stable as MUFAs, but they're still important for the diet and can offer a lot of benefits as long as they are extracted correctly. I would just recommend storing them in the refrigerator. Examples of important PUFAs are omega 3's and omega 6's :) Also wanted to mention that coconut oil is very comedogenic for most people, so if you have a lot of acne and coconut oil is in your skin care products or routine, try taking it out of the regimen and see what happens.

coconut oil should not be consumed too often because it is still saturated oil. Also, when you deep fried, no matter what oil you use, it will become trans fat edit: moderation is the key when it comes to nutrition. there is no one magical super food.
@jas8437
@jas8437 5 лет назад
Actually, the fact that it is a saturated fat isn't really a big deal. But all things should be consumed in moderation, nonetheless. As for the last statement on trans fat, it would depend on the temperature and exposure time of the oil to the heat. In the case of coconut oil though, coconut oil is ~90% saturated fat (fun fact, it's higher in saturated fat than animal fat!) and ~10% unsaturated, so only that 10% could ever become trans fat.
@scotzmnswife
@scotzmnswife 5 лет назад
I'm surprised that nothing was mentioned about the benefits of grapeseed oil, particularly for high-heat cooking like stir-fry, sautéing, & deep frying due to high smoke point. It is high in vitamin E (antioxidant) & is non-GMO, & made from the seeds of wine grapes. I'd always heard it was a healthier option, but maybe the omega-6 levels are what call it into question. Did a quick Google, & looks like it is under debate depending on how it's used & how often.
@megs86-i2k
@megs86-i2k 5 лет назад
People with cholesterol issues definitely shouldn't over-consume saturated fats. But what's crazy is research is pointing to high cholesterol (the reason we've labeled saturated fat as the devil for so long) actually being due to a genetic component and not based on the foods you consume. Or at least not entirely based on the foods.
@scotzmnswife
@scotzmnswife 5 лет назад
@@megs86-i2k, this is true. When my husband's father & his father's identical twin both died within a year of each other (both at an early age) & both had advanced heart disease, my husband & his sister were advised to get cholesterol checks, as the doctors felt there was a genetic component. Sure enough, my husband was diagnosed with high cholesterol at age 31. He tried dietary changes with insignificant results, so his primary care doctor put him on Lipitor. His body just produces more cholesterol than normal. His doc said she'd rather get it under control with a statin than him being on the operating table in a decade with bypass surgery due to the damage already done to his arteries. He joined a bicycle club & does lots of cycling, so his medication requirement is now minimal. I have another friend with the same issue, plus she has high triglycerides. She's thin as a rail & you'd never know by looking at her that she has such issues.
@erebusalice
@erebusalice 5 лет назад
@@jas8437 You are right. Moderation is the real key! oil or fat itself should be consumed with moderation. I think the general rule is to go with unsaturated fat, less saturated fat and avoid trans fat.

I'm 22 and that acne still hasn't gone. You're right, gut health is the biggest contributor to skin quality, and I realise that. @@smallcatbigmeow I'm not exactly sure what I used that helped, but I think it was my cleanser. I switched to vanicream cleanser, which not only suited my dry skin, but doesn't contain ANY harmful ingredients. Oh, plus I exfoliated! I never made exfoliation a constant part of my routine before, but I researched on it, invested in a chemical exfoliater that would suit my skin type and started using it once a week (cuz it was strong -- the Drunk Elephant Sukari Baby Facial). Finally, I just augmented all of this with a good moisturizer and sunblock and made my skincare routine consistent. Eventually it went away.

Love you guys for all of the research and dedication you guys do to bring us proper information to help us along with our journeys because obviously everyone has a different one. I feel I have been suffering from hormonal acne because it’s always basically based around my jaw/jaw line areas and I am a picky eater it’s hard for me to eat anything because I have been a picky eater since I was little and that’s never changed. So while I do like to eat salads and different things I also love meat and hearty meals so I don’t really know what all really I can do to eat things that are more healthy because I don’t like things cooked certain ways and it’s horrible I wish I was not so picky I don’t know how to get out of it.😬❤️
@BeautyWithin
@BeautyWithin 5 лет назад
It's definitely a different journey with everyone! For your situation, it might help to slowly start incorporating new foods one at a time to help you become adjusted and used to the flavor, taste, temperature, and texture. Stick to that new food for a week or so (however long it might take you to feel used to the food) and then try another. I think what's super important in the long run is the mindset, because trying new things can be a really scary experience (it really is!) but once you get over the hurdle, you can discover so many things you never thought you'd like! Hope this helps, hun! We'll wish you all the luck! 😘😘

Not only in terms of skin health, but gut health can also affect overall inflammation in the body. A friend of mine developed red, inflamed, swollen joints last year, along with an unexplained rash that covered her entire arm, as well as heart symptoms (initially thought she was having a heart attack), & extreme fatigue. After tons of testing, it was determined that she had leaky gut syndrome. She had already been eating gluten-free for a while due to sensitivity, but further dietary changes were required. She cannot drink anything cold, all fruits & veggies must be thoroughly cooked (nothing raw), no diary, no tap water (only filtered), & the list goes on. Once she started adhering to the dietary changes, the rash disappeared & the joint swelling improved. She still has chronic fatigue & body pain, but it is better than before the change in diet. She obviously has autoimmune issues, but her gut health has played a major role in addressing those problems.

@BeautyWithin
@BeautyWithin 5 лет назад
If it helps, we're definitely suggesting not being picky about what you eat. The moment you start cutting out foods (that you're use to eating) immediately, your body might react and intensify the cravings (and maybe not function properly). It's moreso of being mindful of the current foods you're eating and figuring out ways to introduce new foods so that in time, you can start transitioning to eating those new foods instead of what you used to eat. Let things run naturally and have fun with experimenting! Also you can totally do cheat days and allow yourself to snack on something you like (cause you deserve it!). Hope this helps and good luck! 😘😘

I have been trying to eat really healthy lately and my skin has been looking a lot better and feeling better (I have eczema). I was also exercising more so I felt pretty good. But two weeks ago I had Jack in the Box for pretty much 3 days straight because I was too tired to make food for my lunches for work and decided to sleep instead (I also have depression so that was a thing that week). Anyway, my skin and hair were both pretty awesome before that Jack in the Box thing and a few days later my skin is breaking out and my hair feels really dry. I don't know if any of these tips have anything to do with hair, I'm just mentioning it. And it's been about a week now since my face started breaking out and it's still happening. I've started eating fairly healthy again so I hope it all goes away soon. I'm really glad I found this video though. I'm learning a lot about food I never knew had this kind of effect on my skin.

You know, it's perfectly okay to treat yourself with the foods you like on some days, and eat healthy on other days. Now that you know what works for your skin and body, you can make more mindful choices! As for your hair, we found that collagen peptides might be able to help your hair look thick and luscious (it's also good for your skin and nails) but it might also help to make a hair masque using coconut oil to help hydrate (just make sure to not let the oil touch your face though). Hope this helps and good luck, hun!

I'm considering doing research because I have been fighting acne for over 10 years and lost my faith in dermatologists. I plan to do hormonal tests: 17-OPH, DHEAS, androstendione, SHBG, testosterone, prolactin, LH, FSH, fT4, TSH. I also think about examining insulin and cortisol. And I read that with acne it is also worth doing research on food intolerances IGG dependent and iGA. And also tinder and helicobacter pyroles. I'm afraid that all these tests will cost a lot. Is it worth all of them? My acne is mainly on the chin, neck and cheeks. I do not eat dairy and sugar.

I found it so funny when I saw the Finlandia butter, because I'm from Finland, and growing up my mom only ever allowed butter in our house (this still applies) 😂 I'm 26 now and I myself only use butter. Thanks mom ❤️

This is all amazing! except for the fact that my family mostly cooks food of my culture(indian food) which has tons of oil and such. I can't really buy for myself :( I have many other things that may stop me for starting on a diet.

Oh Snap You should go get an acne facial, and have the esthetician look at it. I actually had a really good facial yesterday, and there was this one tiny pimple that had been there forever. I mentioned it to her, and she extracted it. It was very painful and gross; she said it was really hard and looked like a grain of rice. Don’t try it at home though. You need a professional to do it, or you can damage you skin and leave a large hole.

I love your channel a lot but I worry about some of the facts you share about diet sometimes and I feel like it could be helpful to do some further research. Olive oil is great for a lot of reasons but it doesn’t have a balanced omega 3:6 ratio, it’s closer to 10:1 (much higher in 6s).

I was surprised you said coconut oil is good for your body. No mather the hype, it's full of "the bad" fatty acids that clog up your vains. It's almost same as palm oil when it comes to digesting it. However it's grear moisturiser and works well as hair mask. Anyway, thanks for this video! :)

can you make a video on fungal acne but with products?
@moyni89
@moyni89 5 лет назад
I’m surprised you didn’t cover smoking points of oils. Coconut oil has a really low smoking point which means that it actually releases a load of free radicals when you cook with it despite all the healthy claims. Canola oil on the other hand, has a higher smoking point, which makes it healthier in that respect!
