As a special Jul gift from us to all of you, we created an Instrumental/Harp only version of the original music that we composed as the soundtrack to our new Naughty Nisse story (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-HwkFx6gRoM4.html). Our story is about a mysterious and possibly mischievous mythical Norwegian Nisse. Our Naughty Nisse video was a unique challenge for us, as we had never before written music to score a spoken story. The music had to fit perfectly with the words - both with the feeling and timing. We wanted the music to compliment and enhance our story, and also to help bring the words to life. We spent a lot of time with one of us reading the story and the other improvising on harp along with the words. We set up our phone and filmed the improvisations and we used those improvisations to create the score. It was so much fun to let our hearts, imagination and musical intuition guide the creation of the score. Like our other original works, this story and music pay homage to our Scandinavian heritage. Some of our Norwegian ancestors lived both north and south of the Arctic Circle in Norway, and Jul traditions are an important part of the darkest time of the year.
Everything that you hear in the video is just our harps - exactly like we can perform it live with no overlays or backing tracks.
