A festive fever dream! If you like deranged holiday helpers and German gingerbread you'll never forget, then you'll love this full movie reaction to Krampus!
The director confirmed that this movie had a happy ending. The little ornament left behind stirred their memory of what happened and it served as a reminder to be good or Krampus will be back for them. He is keeping a watchful eye over them at all times (and other families).
not just germany, i think it originated in germany but was also popular in czech republic as well as poland cuz my polish adoptive mom celebrated st nicholas day and said id get coal if i was bad
"its creme brulee you nasty bitch" may be the greatest phrase I've heard in a while and I am using it in daily conversation when I am so disgusted by someone I cannot even.
So we do celebrate St.Nicholas day over here, and Krampus (or here it's pretty much a devil/demon) is a thing. People dress up as Nicholas, Krampus and an angel and go around the neighbourhood and "perform" for kids, listening to if they've been nice or naughty and giving candy or coal. It's somewhat going away, but still a thing today. When I was a kid, we had my dad's colleague over and his group had pretty great costumes. I was still fully convinced this was a real thing. And for some reason I was deemed "naughty" that year. So the Krampus actually grabbed me, stuck me in a potato sack (scared shitless, of course) and carried me into the cellar, telling me how the other devils are going to cook me for dinner. I lived, of course, but I'm just now realizing it might've mildly traumatized me. Also this is the second child trauma story I've commented with under your videos, sorry about that! :D Cool movie tho.
@@tomriordan4121 I think it was over the line, yes. It could be a great experience for kids if they understand it's play. They need to learn something about being good and behaving well, yes, but it's safe. I didn't feel safe and none of the adults realized this, or they thought it was acceptable. Scaring kids into behaving and all that. I wanna say the fact this was probably 30-ish years ago is mainly the reason, but I don't know how these things go nowadays either.
I *love* the monster designs, especially Krampus'. He looks like he's wearing a human mask, looking a fake Santa. That entire toy segment is definitely inspired by Gremlins, which is a plus for me (highly recommend that if you haven't watched that, already!) Whole movie itself is kind of an homage to 80s holiday horror flicks. Good times!
TheDreamerExtreme I agree, plus they used only CGI for the parts where Krampus was leaping from house to house and the ginger bread cookies. the rest was a guy in a costume with an animatronic head.
I remember absolutely loving this in the movie theater when it came out. Rip Grandma cause she was a real one. The little boy is so sweet he doesn’t deserve the bs.
Thought you might like this fun fact; some of the snowglobes have iconic christmas movie houses in them to signify that they're living the same day over and over again like a movie, 'cause they questioned christmas, kevin mccallister's house is there from home alone!!
I remember stumbling on this and buying it on Blu-Ray. I was pleasantly surprised and watch it every year lol. I've been trying to find a Krampus bell ornament for my tree to freak out my kids actually 😂. Also, Krampus' face was a skin mask like Leatherface, dunno if you realized. I thought that was the coolest touch...give it a Santa Claus look but in a super disturbing way
I'm already at that stage where I just upvote the videos right from the start, but I still look for that "instant upvote" moment you always seem to spontaneously have. In this one it was "jingling Hell's bells for the rest of his life!". Heheh. You're great, Alanda. Seasons greetings to you and everyone else reading this!
this has become a holiday staple for me, i love Krampus! the grandma’s story gave me very much Coraline vibes, but also beetle the bard! the angle getting shot into the wreath kills me every time 😂😂😂
i have no idea why bc it’s kinda shitty but i love this movie so much😭 i saw it in an empty theater with my mom (so you KNOW i was screaming aloud), and the attic scene is *literally* nightmare fuel holy shit. the jack in the box is definitely the worst thing ever
Yes, every Yuletide, the jolly reactor fan shouts of “Do Die Hard!” “Do Krampus!”, and “Do Christmas Vacation!” Congratulations, you’re now two-thirds out of the woods, unless they spring “Elf” on you at the last minute.
Hi Alanda!!!! I am not sure if you read your comments but i really have wanted to comment for a while and haven't gotten the courage :) You are by far my favorite reactor on youtube! Your humor, commentary, wit and class just make me smile even on my hardest days, in another world we would be besties because you just seems so chill, smart and fun. Thank you for doing all this hard work and know at the very least, every time i see you pop up on my videos i smile and you make my day.
It took me a few times watching it and some freeze-framing, but I finally deduced that the reason the Krampus looks so disconcerting is because, if you look closely, he appears to be some other kind of beast wearing the skin of Santa Claus. He skinned Santa and made a pancho from his hide. Merry Christmas!
My kids love this movie!! Granted they tricked me into watching this on Netflix and I was shocked cause in the UK it’s rated 15 and they are 7 and 9 🤣🤣 they tricked me into thinking it was ‘like Goosebumps’ when they put it on 🤣🤣
"I'm nine, I can't drive!" took me out. If you haven't seen it already, I recommend Knives Out. It's another dysfuntional family flick that has Toni Collette and Queen Jamie Lee Curtis. It's also a murder mystery!
@@AlandaParker As a lover of Toni Colette (naturally), should I assume you've seen "Muriel's Wedding"? It's what put her on the map...and still my favorite performance of hers, though I love the projects she choses! (The "Shaft" remake, anyone?)
Not sure if youv'e solidified your Christmas lineup yet, but I recommend the Long Kiss Goodnight (starring Geena Davis and Samuel L. Jackson). It's a relatively obscure 90s action movie but I always watch it around Christmas because it's set around that time, but it's not an actual Christmas movie like Die Hard lol. Great reaction. I saw Krampus in theaters and it was a pretty crazy ride 😜
I don't know if you've heard of this yet, but in the Director's Cut of this film, he (the director) explains that the families in the snow globes are NOT trapped in the moment. They're just being observed, as per the old adage "He sees you when you're sleeping, he knows when you're awake, he knows if you've been bad or good, so be good for goodness' sake!" Those in the globes were given second chances and warnings via the baubles and the memories they shared to remind them to keep the spirit of the holidays alive, but if they slip up, they are, quite literally, damned. As far as my understanding goes, though, Omi's family was an exception. They were taken bodily to Hell the first time, and she was left as an exception, as she wished for them to disappear.
Wonderful, absolutely wonderful. Krampus is a great movie. As many have mentioned, it is an actual part of Santa Lore we just removed him here in America because its to scary. A lot of countries tell ghosts stories during the holiday season, even Sleepy Hollow took place during Christmas and is technically a Christmas story. As for the special effects, This was written and directed by Michael Doherty who also did the Wonderful Halloween movie Trick 'r Treat. The loves to use practical as much as possible, and very little in his movies are CG unless it has to be. Everything had a puppet or costume with slight cg touches. This movie is also technically connected to the Movie Trick 'r Treat with the main antagonist Sam rotting come Nov 1st and his seeds plant themselves for next year, making the way for Krampus to come and teach his lesson to those needing it. Great reaction like always!!
You should watch Crimson Peak. It’s got Loki and Jessica Chastain in it It looks like a horror movie but it’s a Gothic Romance by the same guy who made Shape Of Water
I LOVE Guillermo Del Toro and I love this movie! Absolutely stunning; its completely horrifying but also one of the most strikingly beautiful movies I’ve ever seen.
I legit died laughing @ the demonic gingerbread people letting out thier cries of anguish as they were set ablaze , those creepy little bastards!! 😂😂😂😂🔥🔥🔥lots of fun alanda 🙏! thanx for brightening up a day after long ass brutal night of work!! you da champ!!! 👊🏻👊🏻👊🏻🦾❤️
The writer/director of this also made a Halloween movie called "Trick R Treat" That is an amazing movie. My wife and I watch it every Halloween, our wedding anniversary.
I had not bothered to watch this because I didn't think it would be worth my time, but I watched it just because you found it post worthy. So, thank you for that! I actually did kind of love it, in a campy sense and it was fun. I loved your review of course, too!
This is not a recommendation (and I love your reactions because you just genuinely enjoy the experience), but could you drop your hair products and hair routine? I showed my mom one of your videos for a different reason and she became obsessed with your hair. She's been wearing it natural since before the pandemic because she hasn't been able to visit her hair lady.
Wow thank you so much 🥺. My routine is pretty simple. I use all Mane Choice’s Ancient Egyptian line of products (shampoo, I deep condition with the mask, and use the leave in conditioner) I feel like I don’t have a lot of great tips cause I’ve been natural for about 6/7 years and I’m still learning 😂. but I typically live by a minimal heat, minimal product variation routine 💛
@@AlandaParker Oh thank your so much for the reply!!! Both she and I have come to realize that there are prodcuts for hair like ours. I showed her some of your hair styles and she adores them 😊😁 Love your reactions💛🖤and if you know anyone (reactor or friend😋😜) who is mixed (Hispanic/Black) with CURLY hair I could use some help with finding products other than my ECO gel. Can't wait for the next upload and I hope the holidays treat you well *sorry this comment is so damn long*
They’re not trapped in the snow globe, same with the other families. Krampus gave all of them a second chance, the snow gloves are basically his little monitors, he’s keeping an eye on the families he’s visited and spared from his workshop in Hell.
I was told Krampus carries canes and chains when he visits the children who misbehave. If your naughty he whips you with the cane, if your bad he beats you with the chain and if your really evil he stuffs you in his sack and takes you away forever.
My cousin's wife is German/Swedish, born in Germany, mostly raised in Sweden with her relatives in both. She told me all about Krampus in Germany. It's easy to tease her and relatives that visit for Christmas, having an evil Santa and all.
for those who think at the end they are trapped in a snow globe no in a novel it is confirmed krampus spares its victims some times and keeps tabs on them watching them through a snow globe making sure they don't make the same mistake again
I just love Miss Toni Collette. Some other great movies of hers are In Her Shoes with Cameron Diaz and Shirley MacLaine, and The Way Way Back with Steve Carrell and Sam Rockwell. Neither were huge blockbusters, but they are both fantastic films that I can watch over an over again.
The Krampus is a horned, anthropomorphic figure in Central and Eastern Alpine folklore who, during the Christmas season, scares children who have misbehaved. Assisting Saint Nicholas, the pair visit children on the night of the 5th December, with Saint Nicholas rewarding the well-behaved children with modest gifts such as oranges, dried fruit, walnuts and chocolate, whilst the badly behaved ones only receive punishment from Krampus with birch rods.
Every year on December 5th is Krampus Day, where I'm from (It's more of a countryside thing), and December 6th is Nikolaus (St. Nicholas) day. Basically the Krampus comes to visit the bad children... when I was like 4-5 years old, my dad left me in the backseato f the car, and was like "brb".... all of a sudden the doors open on BOTH sides, and a Krampus (someone dressed up as one, the "Perchten" costumes are even uglier, but more detailed&expensive) was on each side. My heart nearly jumped out of my chest, because at that young an age, you don't KNOW that's just a person in a costume... and they had "Ruten", which are bundles of branches, that you can whip people with (and they actually do with teenagers... at least until I was in my 20s, not sure what it's like now, as people are quicker to press charges... some groups would even drive around in vans, snatching guys up and whip the crap out of them... that would be a kidnapping charge, apart from the assault, but hey that's how it was.. the Perchten woudl sometimes even carry chains, and use those... they#d make you kneel and recite Ave Marias and Pater Nosters, and if you made a mistake you'd get it, for example... of course some of us would also dress up when we were older...). Anyway, basically they asked me if I had been a "good boy", to which I lied and said "yes", scared to death. They then gave me some toys. Obviously my dad had asked them to do that. It's one of the few very clear memories I have from that age. So probably still somewhat traumatized by it :D
One of my favorite movies I can't believe you guessed the ending good job without even realizing it and you got got by the ending 🤣 this movie is awesome it's an interesting one it just came out on 4K disc I got to add it to my collection now! All the effects in this movie were CG mixed with practical and then the close-up shots of everything was all practical old school it's freaking awesome they are all puppets all the toys some of the ginger men were practical and CG ! I watch this movie every Christmas now it's one of my go-to watch movies for Christmas and every time I want to feel a Christmas vibe with a little bit of scary on a normal day when it's not Christmas time
The Part where Alanda was reacting to the demonic Porcelain Angel opening it's wings and she just says: "Ew!!" It made me laugh so much I literally rewatched it two because it was that funny great video Alanda and all the best 😊👍
I don't know why, but the ending of this movie disturbs me almost as much as the ending of The Mist. You'd think somebody would be used to it after nearly two years of lockdowns.
They produced some comics based on the movie and apparently they confirmed that the snow globes at the end are looking glasses for Krampus to keep tabs on those he visits and it's not the fact that they are trapped inside a snow globe. I think that theory fits since the movie does contain a ton of mischief, dark humor and even cynicism but in the end still has a heart.
Omg I had to come here for solace after watching your reaction to Better watch out. Thank you for being such a sweet soul even when watching such dark and scary movies EEK!
If one were to make a Ghostbusters movie set at Christmas (I’m talking truly set at Christmas with Christmas lights, trees, wreaths, candy canes etc.) Krampus would most certainly be the villain.
Great reaction. I say that every time.😆 This movie scared me to death, and I kept yelling, How can everyone sleep when that girl is lost in the blizzard!? Christmas Ghost Face was indeed in that house.
What a nice Christmas horror flick. I do remember this going to theaters. Thanks, I got "Krampus" disease. My wannabe movie quote: "Damn, Dorothy, go back to Kansas." What a trip.
LOL, I love this more way more than I probably should. This is one of those movies I watch year-round and not just on Christmas. You should watch the Bad Mom franchise if you haven't seen it yet. The kid who plays Max also plays one of Mila Kunis's kids.
OMG, just stumbled by your channel by accident and you ma'am, are AMAZING!!! This was by far one of the best reaction videos I've ever seen. Your enthusiasm, sense of humor, and smile are all top notch lol. And I love the fact that you didn't hold back when it came to giving your opinion throughout. Keep the wonderful content coming :)
