@@norseman_5334 Spent a few hours running around trying to capture any next ship above basic brig, being out-turned, constantly depowering to get out of irons, being out-turned again even with manual sailing. Trying to board at the start only to have it slip away at the last second, or once having a successful boarding "interrupted". Hours. But, am starting with PvE to get most of it worked out first. Nothing good comes easy.
@@norseman_5334 I am a solid WOWS player that has been there since the beginning. Not that this is in any real way related, but it should imply competence.
I redownloaded the game, told my faction I was new, they helped me out, gave me 200k reales, a traders brig and a 6th rate. They just said just pay it forward to the next person, they told me how to trade, so I loaded up on cargo to take from San Augustin to the Bahamas, and got immediatley captured by 3 Russian frigates raiding new players on the coast of Florida.
Just got this game. Love it. Did the tutorial and 2 missions, sinking 7x(?) Ship for 49 doubloons in Charleston. Look like they were other cutters, waving pirate flags. Dont know much about ships but this is really cool and looking to learn. Sailing is fun (challenge) but once understood is good. Excited for info on generally everything on this game so ty for this video and the others i will watcg
Welcome to the game captain😃 The game has a quite steep learning curve but keep at it and things before second nature. If you can get the final exam done it a great boost to your xp and crew level. It May take a few tries though. Just keep at it🤞🏻😃 Have you seen my coremechanics videos yet?
@@norseman_5334 no i havent but will now! Ty for the advice, struggling with the demasting exam goinf watch your video. The first exam, destruction, it said the quickest someone sank the ship was like 1:10! I was like holy crap. Got the ship sunk with 6 seconds to go lol :)
Hehe im not sure that time is accurate☺️ but thought thet same each time🙈 The demasting is a struggle, especially after the mast damage changes. But you can ship ahead if it becomes too annoying. Btw what server and which nation?
I remember I got this game a while ago and tried to play it went and took my first mission to take out some ship and couldn't sink it no matter how hard I tried. Ended up giving up on the game haha
@@norseman_5334 well I re-downloaded it the other day just need to find someone to play with. All I know is with that ship I shot its ass so many times it had no armor but wouldn't since. Couldn't get to its side cause it would just shred me
Pvp or pve server? Yeah you won’t sink them by sternrakes alone. You can take down their sail a bit to slow them. That should enable you to keep out of their broadside arc and still get shots in on their side.
Why in 14 hours so far have I not seen a single ship for sale in any port I've visited? I've managed to capture a 6th rate, then finally lost it trying in vain to upgrade. Where are the ships to buy, or do I have to grind all the way to the point where I build one myself?
The county and capital ports are best. Plus they changed the auction menu a few patches ago. So now you have to use the drop down menus to search each rank and quality. Not the system imo☺️
Playing solo it will take time before it will take time before you get the resources to build yourself. You should be able to find someone able to help you via nation chat🤞🏻😃
@@norseman_5334 Wow, just tried that and found some. Who thought that was a good idea? Weird and time consuming but that must be how they want it now. Normally, you'd begin with all the ships listed, and Then filter them down...
Good to hear you found some😃 Yeah I don’t like it either. As far as I know it was requested, by players, as an option to filter. But turned into what we have now instead🤷🏼♂️
Welcome to the game sir😃 Yes they really should put that in the DLC description with capital letter🙈 I’d suggest completing the final exam. Gives a decent xp/crew boost. Then…Fight! Fight! And fight! It the only way to gain real xp and level up. See my core mechanics playlist for info on the exams.
So I’m considering getting this game soon, and while this is all well and good, one question I have is does the faction I play matter a whole lot? I hear conflicting answers a lot, I’m between Pirate and US if I pick up the game FYI.
Well first of all, I wouldn’t recommend getting the game right now. They are still tweaking the latest big patch and imo the isn’t really what it used to be/should be right now. But to answer your question… it depends☺️ Let me elaborate a bit. First of all, it matters more on the PvP server than on the pve. Due who can/will attack you and nation numbers dictate how many people you’ll have to assist you directly. And which harbors are technically safe for you. If you’re a solo player, not very chat/discord active, then no it doesn’t matter a whole lot. If you’re a social player choosing a nation with high player numbers makes it more fun and easy to find friends to play with. As for starting positions US and pirate are close to each other. So getting conflicting answer I think is somewhat natural as players tend to answer from their own POV.
Look up corsairs conquest at sea. Its on gog and a bit old (win98) but its graphics hold up well and the gameplay is unbeaten to this day. Also has many many hours of play with different factions and can be quite brutal. To anyone reading this: if you know of a game that has the same kind of gameplay as Corsairs: cas, please let me know because i have not found any decent ones for years..
Have you ever thought to make a version of this game for android and be awesome if the ones that created the game pirates of the plaque of the dead would or maybe other game creaters would do that like example age of sail versions for android devices
I got NA a few years ago but didn't really have the time to play much, I'm trying to pick it up again but I noticed (along many other changes) that now ships are repaired automatically and for free after each battle. Is there any instance where repair is still used? Cause it seems to me that it's just a dead mechanic rn.
Hello sir and Welcome back😊 They have indeed made instant repair after battles a thing. I honestly have no idea why and IMO it a move in the wrong direction. But to answer your question, yes repairs still have a use in battle and therefore is still a commodity😊
Here is a tip play pack man and eat banana pudding. Cause mortars back then could be fitted to any ship and large ships carried as much as four Mortsr cannons per section meaning . Two sets on rear one on front. So the realistic part of the game I crap until they fix it .
game is ice but i hate this weather system is to frendly and things like that making everything boring. And this fastforward fake sailing outside the battle is boring asf. i prefer to be slow but on my skill than fast and boring
The weather is boring and have no real ingame effect, I agree. OW speed is an abstraction I’m fine with. But skill should indeed weight more than quick fun.
@@norseman_5334 I guess? I feel like normal brig is a magnet for overpowered doodoos to flex on sinking "lower beings", because when I got Hercules I have not been attacked once
This is the same responce As I gave earlier to a similar comment😊 Well some of the latest changes Really aren’t to my liking😅 But still the best age of sail ship to ship combat game out there. That may say more about the selection of games than anything else though☺️
I very agree that the devs are not the best ones out there... by any stretch of the imagination☺️ their lack of patch notes, passive aggressive nature in forums, odd updates, reworking of core systems in a launched game etc... imo they aren’t really making an advantage of the potential, a game like this has. Which is a darn shame. But if you keep away from the game politics and the “forum” and official discord. And just stick to enjoying the combat with your mates, there is great fun to be had. NB: please remember I speak purely from a pve perspective😊 But I’m not blind to the fact that some of the issues affect the two servers differently.
Well some of the latest changes Really aren’t to my liking😅 But still the best age of sail ship to ship combat game out there. That may say more about the selection of games than anything else though☺️
At times yes but generally no😊 if you stay out of global chat and stick to nation/clan chat. PvP naturally brings around a bit more frustration. Which also shows in the official discord at times.
@@norseman_5334 I have seen a video about one guy fighting while being outnumbered and it was obvious to me that he used to take much less hull damage from the other players even with side by side fights then I read about seasoned woods, dlcs that makes you use strong ships with daily insurances and now in the vid I seem to understand that the max convoy size goes to 4 if you own a dlc but stays on 2 if you don't. I don't know precisely how convoys works but these 3 things I've seen looks bit cheesy and definetly p2w in general and this is even worse if I consider that that's not f2p... ...are my worryings justified?
Luckily not quite🙂 I’ll break it down a bit. Rare and seasoned wood is a thing. All players can get it but really expensive😊 If you have dlc ships these can made in seasoned wood and then broken down daily. Which may give a small amount of the wood type, making it easier to come by. But the woods themselves aren’t locked behind a dlc. You can’t insure a ship but every time you sink you get a small amount of reals from the game, as insurance payout. Not enough to buy the same ship. As a standart you can have a main ship and one in fleet. But perk points can increase this up to 2 and 3 in fleet for a max total of 4. This is all by perk point which are earned by gaining rank🙂 so no dlc either. When you watch vids on YT, make sure to look at how old they are. To me it sounds like the video may be from before the change to cannon penetration and such. But there are certain builds for certain ships that are quite strong. On pvp the ship build is obviously very important, ie the better ship the more successful you may be. On pve it not as important as you are fighting npc ships. Dlc ship obviously have an inpact on pvp play as you get new ones every 24hours. On pve it’s just an access to quicker gameplay. The RU-vidr Michael Sharp do pvp mainly and may be able to give better pointers about the pvp aspects than I can😊 Did that answer you questions, sir?
That not a tip... that’s an opinion, good sir☺️ Each to his own remember. PVP has its merits but so do pve. All depends on what people are looking for🍻
