Not a bad video at all. One thing I wonder however is why are you turning into the wind after you rake her? I usually sail away and deny them that free shot. most times I'm able to get in a second free volley at the stern doing this at the expense of a little range.
Thanks! If I manage to turn far enough she doesnt really hit me as most shots bounce. But your tactic is defenatly the safer version! Also since I recorded the video the sailing update (windshadow / maststrength / etc.) Came out so the exact tactic I use in the video might not be usable anymore. But the concept still funtions :)
I have done it with all carros and longs although I think the pen of longs might help more. But it should be possible with pretty much any cannon setup!
Hey! You need Dubs for a lot of things! If you want a ship crafted that is larger than a 5th rate you need Dubs for that. You can also buy minor upgrades and books in the admirality store in port. Finally they are also used to upgrade ports to make them produce further materials. As long as you sail only 5th rates and below id save the dubs to get a bigger ship in the future, and if you have enough maybe get the marines book from the admirality!

There are a few ways to do it. Many ppl sail hard against the wind and switch between going forward and backward just using the sails. Then try to demast the sterncamper.
@@Spookie425 well if you have a significantly lower turnrate you have 2 options: 1) escape (mostly not an option as small ships are usually faster) or 2) try to outsmart them. Sailing close to the wind might do the trick as they have to sail directly into the wind to rake you on that one turn. But there are different tactics that get ok results! Mooving backwords some ships seem to turn better using manual sails than going forward. However if your oponent is an expert at sterncamping and in a decent ship there might be nothing one can do... Just keep im mind 2-3 good broadsifs will usually sink the small sterncamping ships! Getting them in is the hard part.
I can make a video on the whole toppic :) The ship I was using was Teak/Wo standard blue, with basic rudder, a basic bording mod and a basic hull refit on it. I added the bording mod because I couldnt use marines for the first 1st rate I attacked, as I didnt have a book slot. Once I got the slot I put marines on. I did however level all slots of the wasa using a green one with no mods that was mahogany/cedar. You just have to stay behind the ship, as long as you can take one broadside you should be good ;)
Yep you can for at least 5 monthd now but they are a lot weaker than crafted ships with good woods and port bonuses. Still good for pvp/patroll zones though!
It was made of Teak Wo back then. They did change the Woods though since! I guess for this exercise anything thats not super soft as fir fir should do the job though!
@@johnnyringo3453 You just simply dont need to as you can outsail the larger ship. Also the firstrate might actually get to slow and it might get harder because you keep overshooting. But by all means try and tell me how it went! If its a faster way to kill a 1st rate it might be better!
But apart from that, what are you going to do when she is starting to sail upwind, that could make things a bit more more complicated, that's why I came with the idea of demolishing her sails.
You can get another basic cutter for free in port! Id reccomend you go do the tutorial first before sailing around. In port there is a book with a "?" In the top middle. Click on that ;)
Im actually not shure anymore ^^ There are royalty free songs provided by RU-vid. I just sorted them by instruments- strings and got a buch of nice songs out of it inclufing that one!
