This historical documentary series was filmed some time ago!
The tunnels today are now locked and are not accessible to the public!
These tunnels were on the top secret bunker list when they were built in ww2.
The tunnels today are in a very bad way, criminals have stolen copper out of the cables and vandals have had there fun down there.
it was in the late 1990s early 2000s that the lights were still working!

I happy that these historical spaces haven't been converted into hotels or housing namely for veteran's, wouldn't that be a PTSD causing reminder. Perhaps not who knows until the concept is realized. Thank you for finding these places and keeping them hidden. only as a request as you map these spaces out would you be sending this information too your local authorities or veteran community. only too those that qualify.

At 12.49 that is a Honeywell Galaxy intruder alarm control panel, that has been fitted sideways in the Gray box. This would have made it a right pain to do work on because every time you had to take the lid off the back up batteries would fall out. It is an old model, about mid 90s to early 2000s but an updated model is still used today.

It wasn't this facility - it was Invergordon in Scotland. The tank there holds the world record for the longest reverberation. I know where the facility featured here is - but I'm not telling, as the thieving graffiti idiots have already damaged it enough, and no more of them need to know of it's location.

Great vid, that place is huge! a few year's back I worked for an oil distribution company and we were told to report to an address to collect oil from storage tanks, turned out it was a ww2 secret oil store and it took 15 tanker loads out of the storage tanks, and guess what that oil was as clean as the day it went in, look forward to the next vid 👍

I love the videos. I can't help but think of enclosed space safety when you talk about going under to see the main pumping station, or crawling into the large storage tanks, where rust oxidation, and fuel oxidation occurs. 21% oxygen is great, 10% you've lost your ability to think rationally and brain death comes within a few minutes. You can buy a meter that looks at O2 levels, hydrocarbon, methane and other explosive gases for a few hundred dollars. This scenario is unlikely but you are going into unlikely places.

I'm interested where this was as usually these were nearby to large naval facilities so guessing this was connected to Grain and supplied Chatham? I remember seeing the orange "hat" signs on the A2 down near Cobham and again they appear somewhere near Sole St which was really my scope as a kid on a chopper bike so guessing that was the GPSS link between Bristol and Grain, quite interesting on the Bristol to Taunton main line on the way to Taunton is an old fuel storage depot there which has a perfectly maintained rail yard but the yard is severed from the main line but apparently can be reinstated in a very short time if needed.
@brianartillery
@brianartillery 7 лет назад
My late father worked, for the latter part of the 1960's, and most of the 1970's as a civil engineer, and he told me what the 'hat' signs meant. The company he worked for actually installed sections of the national pipeline, and moved parts to facilitate building new sections of motorways etc. He would have had maps showing where the pipelines ran so that they could be avoided in open country - the signs only show where the pipeline crosses a road. Laughably, until very recently, this pipeline network officially, did not exist.
@dodgydruid
@dodgydruid 7 лет назад
Yes I remember it coming "out" of hiding as there was an article about it on secret bases website, I think the pipeline was routed as it was under the A2 and through the areas of Longfield and Sole street was to allow it to connect to RAF Gravesend (now called Riverview Park where I grew up too) from its run from Grain to its meandering route cross country to other parts of the network. I also seem to dimly remember an emergency fuelling point at Milton or Chalk and there used to be a secret lab at Chalk something to do with the navy right behind old British Uralite which is now Met Police tactical training centre (and where Boris plonked the unwanted water cannon which is supposed to be secret hehe) I never knew the RAF flew every mile of that network as late as in the early 2000's but they still fly over whats left after flogging it all off... If I ever win the lottery I would buy an old underground bunker, turn it into a cat sanctuary and would be quite happy living in one of these old sites lol
