Actually, after this tournament a lot of teams had tried it and failed miserably. Yeah, Dota is balance, but it requires skill. And skills if not balanced then they only cry unbalanced at the end.
After watching this series, everyone in the computer shop where i play wanted to pick pudge as mid and alche as a core. Every successful atempt, you can hear everyone yelling the iconic lines like "There's the hook!!", "How is that balanced?" Etc. Peak Dota.
while from TongFu I can only remember Hao, Na'vi had such a legendary line up that TI: Kuroky, Puppey, Dendi, XBOCT and Funn1k, the first three are legends of Dota, while XBOCT and Funn1k are just slightly behind. I miss that era of the game, it was simpler and more punishing, but I enjoyed it a lot more, kinda like how people like OSRS or Classic WoW
Many pros didn’t take to this kindly, but to be honest, all the pros at some used some sort of unintended mechanics in matches, like even in TI11 where Leshrac switching on and off Pulse Nova at the right time could deal up to 50% more damage which was of course patched out by Volvo. Pros abused the shit out of it, and it’s not like Pudge/Chen combo was simple to pull off, it took commitment of resources, opportunity, and most importantly, execution
Are u guys seriously? They can failed thousand times that only cost time and bunch money but they made it once they just won the game. How is that Profit-and-loss ratio?
What a strange era looking from today, - Gyro getting dominator to self ancient stacking, then upgrade it to satanic later - No witchblade and kaya, so Puck can't really be a dps - Ursa getting vladmir because orb effect was a thing - No blink dagger Pudge because he can't really use it - No guardian greaves, no vessel, no boots of bearing, no pike - 2 best spell still present: lvl? death and rubick aura
The best is seeing heroes with 5k or less NW 30 mins into the game. It was much more of a strategy and coordination game rather than the button mash with 200 items it’s become
Looking at this just makes me smile all the time, I can still knows what the players are doing, knows the items are, and how difficult to pull off many of those moves. Watching dota2 nowadays just confuses the hell outta me. I don't know the items, heck even I can't guess which hero is which with all those custom cosmetics and effects on. Damn I'm old.
one of the most memorable series of the dota 2. best years of dota 2. after 6.88f its over. we miss it so much.. today's dota is not the our loved one.
Crazy how different Dota was back then. If you tell me you still can win with your core pudge only having threads and urn 40 minutes into the game I’ll call you crazy.
what do you mean low skill lol. these players still see plays till this day and still a good player even though they already pass their prime. heck, puppey still play on tier 1 team and kicking. that's just how the game is that day, even if you throw high level player nowdays to 10 years ago, they will just adapting to the past meta and play the same pace.
