Another thing you could do since you have two mounts and mics; install them on two different helmets and then order the speakers by themselves and install them on the second helmet. That way the only thing that needs to transfer is the unit itself between different helmets.
Exactly!.... I'll be doing that to other helmet which is a modular but have to wait until around September here in Australia as they haven't shipped them out to us yet. I note on the US Cardo site they are selling them for $89 so not a bad investment to be able to use the unit on two helmets without having to buy another full unit :)
Look forward to what you think of the unit and in particular the speakers. If the speakers aren't sitting directly in front of your ear canals they may sound tinny still. Make sure they are lined up perfectly and they will sound great! I had to modify my helmet slightly as my speaker mounting points sat to high in my helmet (AGV K3 SV). A little sanding and cutting of the foam (yeah I know not the best thing to do) brought them down just where I needed them and now they sound great and also don't press hard against my ears like they were in the original mounting points of the helmet. I love the Freecom 4+ system! :)
Believe it or not, the right set of earplugs can cut the highs and allow some of the lower freqs to get through nicely. Another reason for da'plugs! I see Meghan is also using earbud headphones so that might do the trick.
90% of the time I ride solo and decided for the Freecom 2+. Communiction with other riders is aprox. 500 m and it doesn't have the Cardo voice commands. Instead of that I use Bixby (Android) in combination with Google Assistant and it works just fine. For the rest it has the same features and it's about €100 cheaper. So if you're riding solo most of the time and want bang for the buck (or if you have less to spend), go for the Freecom 2+. Cardo FTW.
so with the freecom 2+ can you only hook upto 1 other rider? or is it 2 other riders? can you all be on the same "voice chat" at the same time or is it just 1on1?
Ok, some tips for next video; Pre open the box, none of the items should be a surprise; then talk through all the items. Know how how your helmet pads come apart, and be able to do slowly so you can show how to do it. Do some research on the product, there is a dual replacement kit, for 2nd or 3rd helmet (only have 1 comms unit and swap between them) Protect your helmet and table, have a towel underneath. Quite good video, needs finessing.
Actually looked at a Cardo Freecom 4 plus yesterday, not sure if it's the one for me or the one is better cause I would probably ride more solo but I like to come prepared and not buy stuff 2. So for example getting a better one which is more expensive but more future proof so the speak. Helpful video Meghan thnx!
So, I have been experimenting with the audio and video being separate vs. together for a while this year, and haven't been able to get the Bluetooth audio to record to my phone or my GoPro. Did you have any luck with this? The GoPro Hero 7 Black requires an add-on to convert analog audio from a 3.5 mm jack to digital audio connecting by USB-C. The android apps I have looked into would only record the lowest quality audio over a Bluetooth connection. Curious to hear if you found a method that worked with your Cardo. Direct wired links to either my phone or getting the GoPro analog-to-digital adapter seem to be the only ways to get there.
Great video, Meghan. I use the same Telsin chin mount on my dirt helmets but never tried it on my Bell street helmet because I’ve always assumed it would obstruct the visor and not seal it correctly? I need to give it a try, I guess. Also, what app do you use on your phone to record from the Freecom 4? Thanks.
@@MeghanStark ooh would you? Imma get me some $600 AKG headphones and a dac...this ought to be good 😆 that kitchen looks like it costs a arm and an leg!
Anyone know how to make Sirrus Xm the default music app for this? It has Spotify as default, but I have a paid subscription to Sirrus. Can't get it to control my app
Cardo works well, no noises coming in Even with Pilot helmet. But ... the connectors for the cables are a nightmare. Wish you had shown the places were you put your cable-connectors -> they are big connectors and not easy to put behind the padding and they did hurt me on my head. So not so easy to hide or put the connectors behind the padding.
I don’t get how the Cardo be used for motovlogging. Can it be paired with a GoPro to record audio via Bluetooth? I thought you could only use an external wired mic to record audio on a GoPro. If you’re able to use this setup as you mentioned, can you please do a video explaining how. Thank you.
I record to a separate audio device actually and not to the GoPro itself. I link up the audio to the video during post-production, and then I can use a mix of both (the atmosphere and my voice). I'll definitely be doing a followup video about this. Thanks for watching!
@@MeghanStark Thanks for the review, Meghan. So do you split the microphone output and send it to both Cardo and the recording device, or do you have two microphones?
Hey Meghan, nice vid. Mind if I ask you something? You might already have answered it, but I couldn't find it with a quick search. You named moto-vlogging a few times. My question is if you can use Freecom 4+ to record your voice. Either to the phone, or somehow directly to the camera? And if the answer is positive, do you have an android app to suggest? Thank you in advance.
The weird thing about the wiring in this system is you naturally want to install the short-cabled speaker on the left, next to the cardo. But in fact that’s the right speaker. So as you’ve left it here, your stereo sound is reversed. It’s weird that Cardo would allow a system this way.
Thanks for posting. How do you adjust the audio settings on your Freecom 4+? I want more base and don't think the Cardo Connect App allows you to change audio settings on the 4+. Do tell please if you know. Thanks again.
Hi Meghan, thx for the video, I just did a Freecom 4+ installation, basically the same but with remote connectivity to a limited number of other units and I could be wrong but I also have the voice command, can't remember if the base Freecom had that. Anyway, the reason for commenting is because you mentioned vlogging as if you intended to use the Freecom for that purpose also. How do you do that, I mean get the audio out of the unit, I'm not sure you can, but what do I know :-) Pls let me know, Thx.
Actually it ended up not being high enough quality for me. But I tested it out and have audio examples in this video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-cJ_P-xY_jzk.html
