Thomas and I will do a lot of things to save a few dollars. 😂 When trying to figure out how to get around Costa Rica, we realized that renting a car or taking private shuttles was going to be too expensive -- so we opted for the public transport buses.
It's not always clear what the bus schedules are, how much they cost, or how long it's going to take and in the end we traveled on 4 public buses for 5 hours and made it all the way from Monteverde to Playa del Coco.

WE ONLY SPENT $13 on 5 hours of transportation! Not bad when the alternative would have been quite pricey 💵💰 ... we might have had to sacrifice a little bit of comfort, but it's always worth it to save a buck! NOW WE WANT TO KNOW: what are some of the most extreme lengths you've gone to to save some money??

I’ll go first.. to save money in college, beyond just eating A LOT of oatmeal and bologna sandwiches, I made many lunches out of the free onions and pickles at Truman’s SUB condiment bar…

Thanks guys! It wasn’t too bad… two days later we had a doozy of a day. Ended up being on buses for a full day, had to walk a mile straight uphill in the dark on the shoulder of a busy road, only to find out that our accommodation reservation was booked for the wrong dates and had to find another place to stay (which ended up being a really stinky and hot shared dorm room hahaha). But you live and you learn!

thanks for the tips! do they accept USD on the bus by any chance? do you pay to the driver? what maps app did you use to navigate? (going to CR for the first time in a few days!)

That means so much! We never really know who are audience is because our analytics fluctuate, but it seems to be people mostly around our age. It’s pretty cool that younger people enjoy it! Our biggest hurdle at this time seems to be marketing and outreach…

I’m always so scared that I will take the wrong bus. That happened me at College. That’s a good deal for those bus rides. Your editing pacing is so good. So much to learn from you guys. Are you guys back. In a couple of weeks we are doing a route 66 drive through IL. Gotta take those ice cream breaks! It’s snowing here so I’m jealous of the heat!

Oh no! How long did it take for you to realize you were on the wrong bus?? We got really confused and missed a bus stop when we were in Budapest and were behind and ended up having to run half a mile, so now we’re pretty observant on all our buses 😂 and thanks so much! It’s always a struggle to make it feel quick and engaging without feeling jumpy or jarring 😬 but still figuring it out! And not yet, our plan is to be back around the first week of April, but we haven’t booked anything yet… And dang! Snow sounds rough, although we’re in Spain right now and it’s been 40-50 degrees here and rainy every day. Which would be fine if we were well prepared, but all we have are our beachy tropical clothes packed haha

"With the locallllls!" Love it. $4 for two to take THAT bus ride with THAT view? Wow. Though yeah, lack of A/C...um...uh... Wait...you passed up...bacon? (Better check your pulse...LOL...) You went drag racing with American Airlines? NICE. Wait...you have a beach in your bedroom? Woo! Nice swimming technique... That sure looks Texas-y! Oh, wait....THAT beach! And finally, the Looney Maroon Goons made it! You three are so awesome! (Yes, three.)

It’s so crazy to think that there are 3 of us traveling everywhere we go! But it’s been nice to feel like we’re including her in all of our travels (even tho she can’t see them and won’t remember them haha). And yeah, the quick hairpin turns and lack of ac made it hard, but at least it was cheap and pretty! Also, it looked like bacon but I think it was fried plantain, trust me, we would have made the time for real bacon if it was to be found 😂😂

@@RuthandThomas Because bacon! And 100% with you on the baby-on-board-in-mommy travel. The kid has L.A. Dodger Dog in his bloodstream from what AnonyMommy ate there, so even though he didn't SEE the game, we say he's been to a Brewers-Dodgers game.
