This is one of my favourite combinations for cold weather🤩😍👌. I love all your recommendations, you always have hidden gems🤩🤩. I love Oud Bouquet, Oud Satin Mood, Velvet Rose & Oud, Sun Drop (Orlov Paris) and Jihan (Kajal)😍😍. I can’t do skanky oud yet, maybe one day🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️. Awesome list as always👌👌. Stay gorgeous🥰🥰
Tank you for the video. Love the Rose oud combo. My first introduction to this was Akester by Parfums de Marley. Haveing tried many more since then I still return to Akester time and time again.
I'm so glad you made this video because both rose and oud are notes I find very challenging both seperately and combined, so it's great to get your take on different variations on this combo. I've not smelled many Middle Eastern fragrances but the ones I have I did struggle with. I'm so in my comfort zone with French and British perfumery. I recently got a decant of A Rose For by Floris, and that one I found both tolerable and palatable for a beginner, a round fresh red rose with a light woody oud (probably no real oud I imagine). Anyway, thanks again for the great round up❤
Dear Sam, I really enjoyed your choices. I love Rose and Oud combo. Lately, I am enjoying the ones that are slightly on the dirtier side. Great video again!
I tried mixing 1 sprays OudWood from TomFord with 2 sprays RoseOfNoMansLand from Byredo and I love it!! Use it all the time 🥰 I have Rose Omeyyade on my list tho..💫
Fantastic video! 😃👍 Thank You so much Sam!! 🌹🌹 Speking of MFK Oud Satin Moon - a big love of mine ❤️ A hint: if someone wants a less expensive „older sister” of this scent made by Francis K. before splurging big on MFK, One can try L'Extase Rose Absolue Nina Ricci. I would say it is 80 % Oud Satin Mood, but without this high end feeling of quality that Satin Mood has. l’Extase is sweeter oud-rose combo, also leaning into more feminine side. Enjoy! 😘😘
Super informative and concise video. Love your reviews but this is one of your best. I reckon you could do a Part II based on all the other rose oud combos mentioned in comments.
A few gems IMO- - Tiziana Terenzi- Dhube Assoluto ($$$$$) $1200+ but 60% at discounters. It uses 50+ year old Oud from the Terenzi family vault. - Ex Idolo Thirty Three- very affordable and 100% agree with you. - Ajmal- Mukhallat Shams (one of Russian Adam’s favorites and the man knows his Oud. He loves Ajmal as a brand) - Ajmal- Amir 2 (higher end version of Shams)
I love rose/oud...I need to try these! I love plain ol' Oud Ispahan from Dior - one of my favorites. For something lighter/brighter, I enjoy Rose Anonyme by Atelier Cologne. For my sweet tooth, I use Lancome Oud Bouquet. I just picked up Rose Wood by Ajmal, which I really like...very smooth, very light oud. For a different rose/oud, I like Smolderose from January Scent Project. It's an interesting rose/oud/seashell combo. I'm gonna have to try some of those barnyard-y ouds you mentioned. Thanks pal!
I do love skanky oud!! The smell, btw is not mold, it's the RESIN that the tree produces in response to the fungus. It is an odor produced by the tree not the fungus. Anyway, I still don't have Silk, I love it and want it but I for some reason really dislike the Satin and have scrubbed it before. Here are some of my rose/ouds: Scherzo (looove), Rose D'Arabie (loove), Oud Palao (loove), Gold Rose Oud (ok) and some of my skanky ouds are Mukallat Shems (wow), Malesia and Al Khatt. I love that gpurmand Malesia and have nearly finished my first bottle (Xerjoff) and I have a second bottle ready:-). I got so many compliments on that last winter!
Enigma Aoud Roja - Summer/Spring, Parisian FDB (Winter), Rose Omeyadde ADO (Fall), I have Sahraa Aoud FDB, Rose Gold Oudh TT (Fall), Rose Oud Intense FDB (Anytime), United Arab Emirates Roja (Anytime), I have the Roses from Ormande Jayne as well. I guess I live for a great Rose and Aoud, Oudh Oud. 😂 🥀 Great Video ❤️🌻
Great list Sam! I love that combo too and I can't wait to find a way to test La Fumée Alexandrie ! You should try Mizensir Original Oud (for a pronounced geranium note), Ghala by Jazeel for the funk and my favorite cheapie, Atelier Rebul's Rose Oud!
Khanjar is amazing but I'm not able to pull it off, it wears me 🤣, whereas Serenity from the same brand has a 'similar vibe' but may be more approcheable and the coumin note on me brings the animalic nuances. Love the topic Sam! ❤
may I ask what you do for a living? is this just your hobby or do you work with perfumes on a professional basis? it‘s incredible how well you can portray the scents with words and it‘s really inspiring🥰 thank you for your videos!
Oh as ever so many new wonderful ones to discover. The violet is what I love in OSM 🙊 but yea I can see now everyone loving it. You knew it was coming from me but Kilians Rose Oud and Musk Oud are both fantastic ones. Well they were... But yea they change don't they
Just stumbled upon you channel with a Google search of the best rose/oud fragrences. I recently got a sample with an order of Louis vuitton Fleur du Desert, and I love it! I am very picky and as I enter my 40's, I have found I don't like rose forward perfumes, and I have very little experience with oud (only oud I'm sure I've smelled is the Initio's Oud for Greatness- which I didn't hate, but just found it odd. When I tried LV Fluer du Desert- I was hooked! Cinnamon, honey, pink pepper, and I think some jasmine perhaps? What would you recommend I try, if I want the rose to not be too strong and the oud to not be skanky? I'm hard pressed to spend $415+tax on this, knowing rose and oud are a popular scent profile! Any recommendations are greatly appreciated ❤ And great video, by the way! I'm going to try and buy samples of many of these, as unfortunately I live in a state where we have no big boujee department stores or fragrence boutiques 😢
Hello Sam As always great content, you have one of the most ornate collections and that's the reason why I love watching your videos. Rose oud definitely in my wheel house. Thankyou greatly Take care Be safe
Hello Sam, I am so glad you covered this fragrance combo. I find it an addictive pairing. These are some great suggestions and there are some I didn't know about. I am going to see if I can seek out some samples of a few. I watched your travelogue at the Souks and it looked like an amazing experience. The best way to educate your nose! Thanks for your video! - Jenn
Coucou, Thank you for this wonderful video! I also love rose. Have you tried Rose trombone by l’Orchestre parfum ? I think it’s my favorite rose fragrance (but without Oud). In the rose-oud combination I have Oud satin mood extrait and like you, I love to wear it time by time, in days where I need punch or to feel confident. The violet in here is stunning. I also like Club de nuit intense by Armaf, which is quite similar to Noir de noir and the lovely Scherzo by Miller Harris. I really want to discover Rose Omeyade now 😊 Bises de France 🇫🇷💕
💕Love your videos. I haven’t had much luck with the ouds although your descriptions certainly make them intriguing. Please share some rose sandalwood fragrances🌹 That combo seems to be a challenge to find! SOS!
Oud doesn't usually work for me, as my nose can interpret this scent as dirty body odor. But I have found a rose/oud combination that I love and that is Scherzo by Miller Harris. The oud seems to go way to the background and what remains is heavenly!!
I came here because I got a free sample of LV Fluer du Desert and loved it! Now on the hunt for a comparable yet cheaper options. I love the scent, but it's insanely expensive for such a widely used scent profile. I love the cinnamon, pink pepper, jasmine and honey in the LV. Unfortunately I live in a state where we have no boujee department stores or fragrence boutiques, so I have to buy samples of pretty much everything 😢 Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!! I don't like very strong rose forward or Skanky oud.
Do you have longevity issues with enigma Aoud? I can’t smell it after 30 minutes. I purchased the enigma hair mist to enhance it a bit and still can’t smell the hair mist either after a short while. Meanwhile with Amber oud, 1 spray and I can smell it all day.
Have you tried any of the Rose Oud fragrances from Aaron Terence Hughes? I know you tried some of his other fragrances. I ordered 3 samples a few months ago and I was sent over a dozen, so I've tried most of the brand. I like that the brand is more accessible bc they do smaller bottles and they are so strong a 10ml is equivalent to a 30ml from most other brands.
Fun watch while I ate my breakfast 🍳 ☕️ I don’t love this combo but I always enjoy your videos! Have you tried Le Labo’s Oud? It’s not a popular one at all and the 5ml sample will last me a lifetime but it’s so mysterious and haunting!! Leaves you unapproachable so use as needed for that purpose 😂 It’s the best of the brand artistically, IMO
I loved your video and am now a subscriber to your channel. I am hoping your knowledge of rose oud combos can help my dilemma. A dupe for Carner Barcelona Volcano. ? I have an original ,but its just getting more expensive .
Great overview! The only Rose/oud fragrance that I currently have is Kazimi by House of Matriarch. I like it. I would like more rose than I get from it though. Keep up the good work...
Thank you so much. All are genderless, depends on which description you like. The more sweeter roses some men find challenging to wear, but there are also many men who wear them without issues. The ones I described as savory are your safest bet. 🌹Xo Sam
Love your channel ❤, thank you for reviewing oud & rose . My personal love for perfumery started few years ago from Jo Malone Velvet Rose & Oud , which I assume is very much beginners type of perfume. But little by little my collection of scents is growing and Im saving some £ for Ardent and Sleek Suede for this autumn/winter .
Your videos are so helpful. I had tried Oud Satin Mood just found it too sweet and then Oud Cashmere Mood...too bitter, so maybe Oud Silk Mood (or Black Rose), thank you for the less expensive alternatives. I find it really confusing when oud is combined with real animalics like castoreum, civet, hyrax, deer musk, like is the funk from the animal or the oud?
I am enjoying Sehr Al Sheila from Swiss Arabian. It reminds me of Rose d´Arabie from Armani Privé but the rose is not so prominent and the woody drydown is so good. And it is not crazy expensive. In the end how much real oud is in each bottle? And do I really want to have so much of it? I could smell the real deal when I was in Oman and I was horrified...it was so strong. The only thing in perfume form that reminds me of that smell is Mukhalat Malaki also from Swiss Arabian and I only have a mini of this oil to smell it from time to time but I am not able to wear it myself,
Thank you for the recommendation! Real oud is also very expensive, so unless you want the real thing, I don't recommend paying luxury prices for "a version of oud". It's up to personal taste what you like - absolutely fine if you don't want to smell like it.🌹Xo Sam
@@MyWorldofFragrance I think I like woody smells so Oudh is ok as long as it is not very strong. I have a decant of Nawab of Oudh by Ormonde Jayne. Do you know this one? what do you think of it? I get something fruity and ambery in it, I find it original and different from the ones I could smell until now with this Oudh note.
Don’t know how I’ve missed fars all this time, it sounds like a winner for me. Still learning to love rose, but not quite there. Also looking at Notorious Oud, just because I like Durga’s style generally.
I have smelled Khanjar and I initially didn’t like it. It smelled like 💩 However, it transforms into something else after sometime such that 3 hours later, it smelled like a totally different fragrance. I’m eyeing to get it as my first funky oud as I enjoy many fragrances from that house (Oud Aquilaria, Royal Incense, Wanderlust).
Not all oud has the barnyard smell. Oud Hindi from India is famous for the barnyard smell. Oud from Malaysia or Vietnam or Thai have different scent profile.
I recently discovered Oud Bouquet by Nasamat. It is oh so different from the Maison Lancome version which is a little too punchy for my nose. The Nasamat version is lighter, fresher and can be worn year round. The oud in this one is not prominent at all.
I swear, you should get a cut of the sales of all the fragrances you review. I've either bought samples or full sized numerous times based on your videos. Side note, are you interested in doing a video on clean fragrances? There's so little out there. Brands like Providence and Ojai Wild, another others that I may not know about- I'd love to learn more about clean fragrances. Thank you.
