I know so many people have already said this but you are such a gifted teacher!! I paid for a class at my college on linux and had NO IDEA wtf they were talking about when it came to mounting. I was so confused and it seemed so complicated. Now It seems so easy and simple thanks to your videos. Thank you, man. Like seriously... Thank you.
Coming back over 10 years later to tell you, Eli - when I was new to linux as a teenager, I watched a TON of your videos, including this one. 2 years ago I finally began my career as a linux kernel engineer. Thank you so much for helping me start this journey so long ago!
Few months ago I knew that there is Linux, but just that. Now I know for real that I want to became an Admin. This classes are very very solid ground. Thank you!!!
Eli is a good teacher. I am new to linux and he gave me just what I am looking for. He is very clear and easy to understand and he give really good examples. I know a lot more now then I did at first. Great teacher.
These Linux videos are so helpful Eli, your explanations are spot-on. Thanks to you I'm now gaining an understanding of this subject. We all appreciate the time and effort you put into these videos.
you are such an great teacher. thnx very much for your great work. right now i´m/you are teaching my daughter. she´s reading informatik at the tu berlin, first semester. starting with linux. so know your work is being introduced to the germa students. thanks eli!!!
Thank you Eli for posting these tutorials. You are the one of the best instructor on the Web. You are God send! Your detailed explanation helped me understand Linux and TCP/IP. God bless you for changing many people's lives. You surely did mine.Thank you.
I like your style. You're very thorough. You explain everything clearly and show not only how to do things but why. Only thing is I need a more accelerated lesson. Ill be back to go over the details. Yet I need to be able to navigate my machine asap if not sooner. I'm sandwiched between Microsoft and an OEM and my hardware is being held hostage. So this is a hostage rescue. Only as long as I cannot use my machine. It makes a very, very good hostage and I'll have to give. they win.
How could you not like this video? This man clearly loves sharing information to help users and he is being very kind and patient as always. Ignore those haters Eli. ;)
Excellent video, employers are definitely looking for linux experience, videos like this are a great start to learn. Best way to learn linux I think is to use it, download a distro, boot it up in VMware Workstation and either run it from CD or install it. thanks.
These videos are superb! I never thought I'd ever get a grounding in Linux as quickly as this, but Eli explains it all so well. Love the notes/cheat sheet too! Keep up the great work Eli, and thank you for providing such valuable tutorials.
such contribution needs to be continued by others for humanitarian purposes just like Nicolas Telsa did and he is the greatest inventer of the milleniun
Hi Eli, Just wanna say thanks for doing all these videos. I'm doing my finals on basic linux commands in a few days and this really helped me a lot! Greetings from Belgium, Nick
eli please do a thorough tutorial in datastructures through c language. It is the most confusing thing in programming the way u explain makes things as simple as learning abc
Eli - Thanks for the awesome video. Other videos I watched/info I read made the mounting of flash drives way to complex compared to what you showed us. Would it be possible for you to do a brief video on how to mount network drives? Thanks again for everything!
I'm a little fed up of people commentating negative things. Yes he repeats a lot of things and yes these videos arent packed with everything in 20 minutes. Some people learn through repetition.
Personally I ran into some issues trying to mount a new drive while using Ubuntu Server 16.04.02 as a VM within Workstation. After some research, I found I had to actually create the partition and also format it. To partition the new disk I used --- sudo fdisk /dev/sdb --- Press N to create a new partition. Press P to make it the primary partition. Press 1 to use all disk space (you may have to manually input sector start and end though, I had to). Press W to write the changes. Press Q to quit. I then had to format the partition using the following command --- sudo mkfs -t ext3 /dev/sdb1 --- You can look up different -t values as it changes what type of filesystem used. Hope this helps anyone that was having issues like me. (Trying to learn linux myself, Im not a pro)
I have been watching a lot of your instructions....YOU are awesome!! Love the fact that you're making it fun...and easy. You inspired me to be like you..............but less than bald head. lolz
Hi Mr Eli: Thanks for your educational videos which I love to watch. I am not a computer professional as such sometimes I have difficulties in trouble shooting issues on my PC (Win 7). For the last one week or so I am not able to view all your videos on Full Screen or medium. The moment I click medium or Full Screen it just stops the video. Screen remains small. Can you please give me some tips to solve the issue. I am able to watch all other videos in Full Screen.
To put together what you've said, can you copy or move a file from a directory straight into the mounted flashdrive using the copy/move command, as long as you have the filepath typed correctly, or must you use a variation of the sudo mount /dev/sbd1 /mnt/flashdrive command, and that the move/copy commands are purely limited to within the server itself? Or, am I just making this all more complicated to myself than necessary?
oh men! u are brilliant I have seen some of your videos they are really great please men continue uploading videos may if you have video about Kali Linux please I like you!!
Hi Eli, Thanks for the videos :) They are awesome :) I just have a small question I am running Mac OSX and having a virtual machine running ubunto. I was trying to do a mount for my USB drive as you have taught us but its not working :) I cant find the correct /dev/sda.. thingi :) What can I do ? Thanks !
Is it considered a best practice or just OCD to always place all the options before the arguments in command calls from shell? I would always write "rm -R dirname" from habit, not append or intermix the options.
Hi Eli, Excellent explanation. Also wondering about " sudo " command. Do you have any class regarding that. Because i am using it in one of my requirements and used to work fine, recently I am getting Permission Denied message. I am using as this sudo su - username --> it is giving me permission denied now It is working when i tried su - username. I am wondering it used to work and why it stopped working now. Could you please advise. Thanks, Cpen.

I'd like to get all the 17 dislikes people in one room....interview them...them create a channel for them. Talk bout character invertedness. How can someone not love Eli?
