I can not take his word seriously if he's not going to suggest what to do and what to replace items with to make things better. Honestly, it was kind of annoying just to sit here and listen to him talk smack all over everyone's work, yet not offer any insight to a solution. He reminds me of my sister, who complains and points out every problem, yet never has a solution to any complaint.

I like the ambi charging handle because incase you get shot in the hand or something else happens you can still clear malfunctions & run the rifle. I liked all the builds. I honestly think Joshes is the most practical for the everyday person. It’s a night stand gun if you use it you’ll most likely never see it again. I do like the high optics mounts for heads up shooting too but paying 200-300 for mount isn’t for me.

Check out Forward Control Designs ACF charging handle. It's basically a mil spec style charging handle that is slightly larger and has ambi latches on both sides. That way you retain the solid one piece charging handle for strength yet still get the ambi charging ability. The solid design also eliminates the flimsy articulating charging wings on most ambi charging handles.

@ARFCOMReviews
@ARFCOMReviews 9 месяцев назад
The slings I will defend because this is a pick up and shoot gun, slings only make sense if you plan to walk more than a block with a rifle and I don't live on land (my biggest regret) so I won't be going far while defending my house. As for the hand stop, I am totally with you that there is no way he is changing that every time 🤣 MAYBE if he not in a hurry, but for rapid deployment as the folding stock and bag would suggest, I call BS.

I'm gonna be honest here. Aside from a can. ONE major thing every rifle here needs is a solid sling, specifically a two point. I'm really surprised to see a team guy didn't have that.
@ARFCOMReviews
@ARFCOMReviews 8 месяцев назад
We actually talked about this off camera. 99% of the time you would be right, but kn a decided home defense rifle you won't be slinging is or taking it a far distance, our conclusion (which we all came to separately) was that a sling is just more weight/things to make noise/get in the way in this very specific set of circumstances. If your home defense rifle is a GP rifle or serves more roles then it absolutely needs one!
@KenS826

In close quarters there is a definite chance of struggling with an invader(s). What more important time to have a sling? Getting killed with your own rifle in your home would be f*king embarrassing.

Surefire light, (I do use the tape switch), Romeo 4t red dot, Scalarworks tall mount to see over switch and IR laser (not necessarily for home defense purposes), Radian raptor (ambi is way to go), Radian 45 degree safety selector, BCM vertical grip, Dead Air Wolfman (short config.), stock grip, MCX stock (foldable)...

*6:39** Side folder (some/most) add a level of complexity to battery of arms that you don't need to fk around with when groggy. Some can pinch fingers.* *Some can impinge movement of the buffer.* I'd avoid for home defense. Those are best for a truck gun.

In the Beginning there is a lot of emphasis on the side folders. My beef is with the first two guns so fair you can't shoot while folded. It Makes only good for Storage and exiting a vehicle ( but then you still got to unfold then shoot.) pluse side to the pdw brace ,its not as small but fires in any position.
@Steezyfella
@Steezyfella 9 месяцев назад
It gives you an option for making it easier to store an exist a vehicle more easily. If you want something that is ready to go most of the time, then you just don’t fold it.
@jamespierson9472
@jamespierson9472 9 месяцев назад
Side folders on DI AR’s are in my opinion completely overrated. You can always just separate the lower and upper. But the side folder introduces weakness in the stock, it introduces inaccuracy, it’s heavier, and it increases length of pull pretty significantly. And you don’t really get any use out of it. It’s like if you installed a really big, somewhat unreliable barrel nut that has a lever on it which if you pull it, causes your gun to malfunction.

The seal is completely wrong about the blast can. I can't speak for the KAK, but the noveske flaming pig is the best upgrade you can do to a pistol/sbr. It completely erases the over concussion, severely reduces the fireball and also helps by supplying the gas system a little more gas which is greatly needed for short barrels that are unsuppressed. Shorty Ak's come with the same style muzzle devices from the factory because they suck? To me the chambered blast cans are worth their weight in gold.
@ARFCOMReviews
@ARFCOMReviews 8 месяцев назад
I am 100% with you on that. The KAK is staying on my rifle until I get a can for it 🤣 and even then, I'm probably using my can on other guns rather than my HDR.

Pressure switch is NEEDED for left handed shooters, left handed applications like barricade and room clearing (situarional). For the sig at the end, you should’ve just gone with a 9mm. For a 5inch gun, you’ll get better ballistics, better recoil management, and your face won’t be suffocated with gas, especially with that can at the end. 300 blackout is good for slightly longer length guns, but when you cut it down to 5inches like that, it sorta makes the caliber useless since it’s ballistics will basically be garbage. My RDS (Sig R4) and DBAL are mounted on a Unity Tactical FAST W/ skiff since there’s so little room on the hand guard.

You guys would know how a lot of these things if you just run your guns… you realize what is best and by run I mean hold them for a long time dry firing and clearing you house a lot. And shoot them also in a place you can move and shoot… if you do that you’ll realize simple and what works is always best. I call bs. Flash cans, absolutely send noise and flash focused down range (even in your hallway) You might get some reflection but you will definitely not be getting any reverberation off walls close by. On a short-barreled firearm, it's going to be the best thing you can have next to an actual can.

@@ARFCOMReviews You haven't spent much time researching home defense cases, and it shows most home defense situations show gunfire being a deterrent for the Intruder. Most home defense videos show intruders running away after the homeowner discharges the weapon. Another reason is that it is an indicator for close proximity individuals. My neighbors would hear the gunshots and be able to call if I am unable to also, if I have to use a gun in my own house to defend myself, the last thing I'm worried about is losing hearing what if I lose my life oh and you guys are also missing slings on all your rifles thanks for responding 👍

100% comment bait show. Ambi charging handles have helped me in a number of tight spots. The only reason NOT to have one is that itll dig into your chest or catch on kit when stowed tightly on your body. ... also, no mention of flash hider bc HDG will be shooting in the dark. That shitll blind you in your pitch black hallway

It wasn't the intention but it definitely became that 😅 All my rifles have ambi charging handles. I think even just foe the leverage on a malfunction they are worth their weight in gold. I think a flash hider is probably the best way to go for a fighting gun. The only downside on these shorter rifles in they are just so damn loud.

So suppressors are cool but for a home defense gun, they seem kinda pointless accept for hearing protection in my opinion. Being able to hear is cool but what if I live in a normal, boring neighborhood where if someone hears gunshots they call the cops? Wouldn't that be a plus if you go loud and your neighbors call for you? Plus I figure it's your house, be loud if you want to. If their's more than one intruder, chances are good they'll run away after hearing gun shots or seeing one of their own get dropped, right? Most criminals are not that determined and haven't thought things through. I just disagree with having a suppressor on my home defense gun.

I don’t get the cool AR pistols here in a Commiefornia-lite Hawai’i so I have to run a 13.7/9 p&w Spikes with DD furniture, an Olight tape switch pistol light (I can just push buttons), Geissele trigger, Holosun 510, no hand stops or grips just rail panels, and DD hard buis. My Dad won it from our local NRA banquet in 2018 it was donated by a gun shop and built by the owner so I have no idea what is on it. There was probably a build list at the auction but my dad isn’t knowledgeable. I have another GP rifle more in line with what Jeff thinks no tape switch and light front end I do have an angled tooth grip like his (mine is smaller) and a barricade stop. My light is an 18350 Valhalla Tactical BALDR ODS that I can reach on the ejection side of the rifle with my support left hand thumb.

"unnecessary" ambi charging? Bro if your support hand gets smacked or crushed how are you charging that AR from a malfunction exactly? Same with his complaint about the tap switch. Switches help with white light ND's which is a great way to telegraph and get schwacked. No thanks. 15:20 300 BO will "over penetrate" FAR worse than 5.56 in a home environment. This has been tested and proven many times. If over penetration is your concern, you're better off with light, fast projectiles. 55 grain or lighter varmint projectiles will definitely stop bad guys and stop in most residential walls. I'm not a fan of 5.7, but that also would be a good solution for that problem. If you need a short barreled PDW that's terminally effective and over penetration is low on your concern list, that's exactly what 300 BO is designed for.

I use a 14.5 Geissele Super Duty upper. Its my go to. Its on a Colt lower with an SSA-E trigger, CMMG ambi safety, BAD Lever, Geissele Airborne charging handle, (The entire rifle is ambi, im a lefty.) Super 42/H2 buffer and spring Magpul PRO folding BUIS 1-6x PST GenII LPVO, offset enclosed emitter 509T red dot on an Arisaka mount, Cloud Defensive Rein 3.0 light which is absolutely incredible. surefire closed tine flash suppressor/suppressor mount for my Mini RC2. Simply put, its my Do-it-all rifle. From home defence to 500yds, and everything in between, including coyote/varmint hunting which i do a good bit of. Ive dumped MANY coyotes at 400+yds, the Geissele upper is outstanding. Reliable as hell, and accurate as hell. MOA all day with my chosen "duty loads" It's not a competition gun, it's a dedicated fighting rifle. And the thing just runs. All weather conditions, dirty or clean, it just works. Chug chug chug. Just to mention tho, just as important if not MORE important as rifle build itself, is AMMO SELECTION. I train often with 55gr whatever is cheapest, but for longer range shooting/hunting and any type of self defence, i use almost exclusively 77gr OTMs and 75gr Speer Gold Dots. though i do have a case of 70gr Barnes TSX loads put aside as well for testing soon, i dumped a 4x4 whitetail with a 70gr Barnes and it hit him like a ton of bricks, im curious to see how they perform in testing. I use exclusively Barnes TSX loads in my hunting rifle (a stainless 30-06 Ruger M77 MKII) and have always had extremely good performance with them so we'll see how they perform in a 556 rifle Note: I dont have neighbors too close, I am not worried about "over penetration" on the contrary, I WANT the ability to defeat common barriers with my ammo and still deliver good performance on target If I was worried about penetration tho I would probably go with some sort of 60gr V-Max load or something similar. YMMV.

The reason I have refrained from building out an 11.5 gun is because of all the ATF dickery over the pistol braces ECT. A 14.5 does everything for me just fine. I don't feel like even worrying about the status of the various brace bans constantly going back/forth.
