How cool to actually see this in person - you'd think this would be happening at some heavily militarized island secluded from anything but it's right there at a beach community.
Right, our beach is right next door to the SEAL training place where the BUDS candidates qualify. They swim a course about 100 yards off shore parallel to the beach for 2-3 miles each way.
You can watch this happen pretty much anywhere I go surfing. Only difference is my board is getting all dinged up and I’m cussing while onlookers point and laugh.
It will be now that Strickland opened his mouth, & doesn’t think the seals are that bad ass, these men are selfless heroes & and true team, thank you for everything ✌️🇺🇸
I was in BUD/S class 223. Whenever we'd run in front of the Hotel Del we'd have to behave. No cadences with swear words and stuff like that. Instructors would tone things down if they had a reason to yell or anything.
Made me think about the time a guy leading cadence in the army in 84-85 sang something vulgar. Our captain wasted no time shutting that down. We were running PT once and a good friend was singing cadence in his Elvis voice. Try running when you’re doubling over laughing. I almost fell out of formation. Good memories.
Thanks, Dr. Flynn. This is just basic stuff here with the rock portage, not that it’s easy; it’s not. Students are known to have torn ligaments during rock portage.
These are BUD/s candidates, not Navy SEALs. If they pass BUD/s, and the qualification course after graduating BUD/s, and earn their trident, THEN they are Navy SEALs.
Well, no fucking shit. Feel like a Navy SEAL now, do you? He most certainly meant Navy SEAL Training, as in Training to become a Navy SEAL. Really lacking the common sense in seeing what he really meant? Or feel like being a smartass? It's one of the two.
That training looks like hell. Recently two navy seals died when one fell off the side of a ship they were boarding due to high waves that knocked him off into the water and the other disappeared into the water when he jumped in to help his friend. Instructors can only give recruits a taste of what they can expect when they graduate and move on for missions in combat.
High waves, slimy rocks and an inflatable. I do something similar from our aluminium boat and it is very easy to slip up. Being stressed and in a hurry would suck. These guys are pros
@@user-zt2vf6vx7p Don’t know about algea growth etc in that climate, but up here in Norway rocs like that is no joke. Add to that tar and seaweed and it can be Bambi on ice, but with serious consequences.
@@wathaet1386 Those particular rocks aren't as bad as others, in regards to slipping, but it's still not easy to climb on. The main concern here is the large gaps between rocks and you can get pushed by the waves while standing in between rocks leading to some pretty horrific leg breaks.
My wife and two sons stayed at the hotel del Coronado for five days. We saw the recruits swimming most every day. You can walk down the beach to a point where the base begins and see a lot of stuff!
It's not. This is where there are heavy injuries and medical drops. You slip on those rocks ( people do all the time) the boat will fall and break someones leg. Arguably the most dangerous part of BUDS.
Doesn't look remotely fun. It sucks. Also, you have to worry about getting injured and getting dropped as a result. Lots of people drop on request but there are also guys who don't want to drop but get injured and are forced to.
I said the same thing until I found out they were great white sharks all over the coast of California and they eat meat. And Navy Seals do Open Water ocean swims going several miles. With just a knife
jim d Not very fun at all. It’s hard work. That stuff that they are doing there is hard as shit. Coming in second means they are the first losers so they get punished along with everyone else who didn’t get first.
Nothing of this is fun, constantly cold always sleep deprived constant beatings endless pushups constantly getting yelled at by instructiors 150 pound logs,
@@treyvaboi17 In a perverted way it is. Try this at home. Fill you bathtub with cold water and dump a 10 pound bag of ice in it. See you howl long you can stand it. Or find a thermometer and make the water temp of the bathtub 50 degrees. That's the temp of the Pacific. Lie in the tub until you can't take it any more. Then take an anal thermometer and take a reading. Don't use a mouth thermometer; it's not accurate enough and your chattering teeth may break the glass thermometer and you could swallow mercury - that is a death sentence. If your body temp is above 90 degrees, get back in. Once your temperature is in the high 80's, you're done. Go do the O course with sand in your crotch. Do a little log PT. Knock out some pushups in increments of 20, 30, or 50, depending on the phase you're in. Five mile timed run. Suffer from sleep deprivation, which is its own form of pain. Then do the Pacific Bathtub Challenge again in 3 hours. Every weekday for 6 months.
Garrett Holliman SpeedE you guys don't know shit. This is my class. Class 323. You won't know shit until you make it. Don't rant about how you won't quit blah blah blah Bc those guys always quit. Just go in and give 110% and take it one evolution at a time. Getting there is hard, getting through hell week, good luck. It's 100% mental and 100% physically. We graduated BUD/S with 10 originals from the 200 and something from boot camp and 2 officers that's started phase with us. A total number of 26.
There's definitely Great White Sharks out there. Especially out by the island. The population is increasing every year too. There's never been a A BUDS student bitten though.
@@ceedee9381 are you talking to me? No need for the “Mr.Know it all” bitchy comment but yes I do know a lot about buds because I’ve been obsessed with making it thru the pipeline for over a year now. I was criticizing the title because they aren’t navy seals yet, anyone in the navy would tell you that or with half a brain. If you’re training to become something, you aren’t that yet, which is why the title is wrong and why I left a comment.
@@ceedee9381 nothing wrong with being obsessed while workout out and working towards your goals, not to mention I’m waiting to join so I can be the best man at my twin brothers wedding. Attention to detail is important so I corrected his title, with you having an SO contract I would of thought you would agree. Are you in DEP then or awaiting orders to buds or Indoc then? Good for you tho
Anyone know the reason they qualify to move on to become seal’s at bud’s in the public eye instead of like all the “traditional”boot camps. I have my theory but no idea the accuracy.
This video was taken back when there were no rocks available close to the SEAL base which is about a mile away. I live nearby and have not seen this since they have opened their new base which is not on public land and very private. In the past they have used these rocks almost every year.
I wish I was there. I am a hard hard worker. The only thing stopping me is my anxiaty. I dont do well around others. I wish I did not have anxiaty I would sacrifice everything to get that boat up the rocks.
Vincent Flynn BUDs and SQT is not in VA. They have SEAL teams in VA that is it. All of BUDs is in Coronado, with the except of San Clemente Island, Nisland in 3rd phase and Laguna. In SQT you're in Coronado and Alaska.
