I've noticed a very strange thing about this song. Every time I get high and listen to this song wide open I wind up in jail. Damnest thing I've ever heard. Oh well.😮
I first heard Nazareth in 1977, Shanghai'd in Shanghai.I was 18 ,high and hooked on Nazareth ever since. They are a great and underrated band.I'm 64,in a nursing home because of a messed up body and still rockin on blue tooth head phones. Just listened to Hair of the dog and Razamanaz! God bless 🎸🎸🎸👏👏👏
I can relate as a Rocker Brother. At 70 years young I have survived the wild party years including 5 years on cruise ships out of Honolulu and 27 years of wild living. I am now 22 years as an addiction treatment/mental health counselor in San Francisco of all places (city that saved my life) and wondering where I might end up as my body breaks down. But the incredible bands like Nazareth keep me Rockin' and we don't yet know the future in these crazy days! I wish you the best my Brother! Stay strong and keep Rocking! We lived in the greatest days of music and that can never be taken from us!
Yes there great when they come out this I was serving military and need that song rock on America remember democracy and not the man Americans who we fired rule again he a dictator it going get bad if he ever return president again I know you know his name only one with 91 indictments and begging money have good day my friends
In high school - my best friend had a ‘71 Pinto with Cabinet Speakers in the back. We would drive around with this blaring and the back hatch open. Good Times. 🍎❤️💋🎼🥃🍺
Have an uncle who is like 12 years older than me, I learned a lot from him: music, weed, fast cars, fast women. Now I am in my 50s and wonder wth he was thinking, but at the time it was a blast
You're banned playing this music. You're Band must have be awesome, bro. Superior firepower31⚡️13! I was born in sixty five I can relate with This is real music we listen to.
Heh, when I was in 7th Grade, about 1978 or so, there was this dude in a higher grade that had this massive 'getto-blaster' and would blast this tune on his shoulder on his way to each class...such a good memory...
My brother would jam this when we drove to high school. I sat in the back seat right by the Pioneer speakers. I realize now the reason I had poor grades was because I couldn’t hear a darn thing the teachers were saying!
Back in the day we went to concerts. It's what we did. General admission was $20 and there were no seats on the floor. As a teenager I always worked my way to the front row. Nazareth was/is my favorite band so seeing them sing "Hair of the dog" with a stadium full of screaming fans. was. the. GREATEST!!! I got to see Nazareth twice in concert. Best. Concerts. EVER!!!
Heart breaker, soul shaker I've been told about you Steamroller, midnight stroller What they've been saying must be true [bridge:] Red hot mama Velvet charmer Time's come to pay your dues [chorus:] Now you're messin' with a A son of a bitch Now you're messin' with a son of a bitch Now you're messin' with a A son of a bitch Now you're messin' with a son of a bitch Talkin' jivey, poison ivy You ain't gonna cling to me Man taker, born faker I ain't so blind I can't see [bridge] [chorus] [pipes solo] [chorus]
Tuff lyrics - tuff song -- probably the band to get away with cursing on a recorded album - and then to get air time on the radio ( in the 70's )...... I really love this song.
SUCH A BADASS TUNE. 13 yrs old first time I heard this back in '79 ... it became our 7th grade football team's FIGHT SONG on the school bus ride to the opposing teams town. YEAH WE WERE SOME BADASS LIL' SON'S A BITCHES...!!! 🤟😈🤘🏻🎵🎶🎵🎵🎶
When the cowbell, gnarly Gibson riff, and singalong chorus led by a singer sounding like he'd just done a shot of moonshine with bong water chaser still isn't enough, so they top it off with voice box!
@@tedhansen3846 Definitely did, true! There were also intermission non-music acts that were odd and different. The only one I remember offhand was the guy who high dived from a platform into 18" of water. That landing had to hurt.
Being able to yell out loud SOB in singalong was such a thrills back then with this song !! ... With Hair of the dog surely allowing us here to repeat it so many times ! What a satisfaction and pleasure it was. Oh my ! Cannot forget it. Now imagine what it was during there live performances... Telling you, we were literately lifting concert halls roof with our chorus of the main lines of that song. Making us here, at least for the time of a song, all very badass... 🤘 🎸 🔥 🦚
What has always killed me about this song is the backing vocals as the song is winding down. A deep voiced member of the band chimes in with an occasional "son of a bitch".
Yes it did. And unusually, the voice on the box was also lead singer Dan McCaffrey but played by guitarist Manny Charlton. (Confirmed by a 1975 West German TV appearance, which is somewhere on YT).
Miss those days.. My oldest brother had the most radical music playing setup. As a guitar player, he had every component hooked up so he could play this song, guitar and sing at the same time. Out of 6 kids I was the only one that was able to use it after school and what not. We're 15 years apart but it was cool when the sisters girlfriends came around...
Best ever to be a teen in the 1970's i had a huge mercury woodie station wagon. Could fit 9 people and party with lots of friends. Back then you got your license and instant freedom . No mothers against drunk drivers. The cops confiscated your beer and pot but they let you go and said be safe, now your imprisoned the 70's no big brother, just enjoying FREEDOM. Gone forever but in our hearts. 🎸🥁🍺🪴. , Long live clasdic rock and roll ☮️
Girls Aloud "Sexy No No No" sampled the classic main riff brilliantly. Sounds great on the original and on theirs too. ( Nazareth got a writers credit. )
That whole album speaks volumes. "Pleass Don't Judas Me" Miss Misery', Whiskey Drinking Woman. I have the original vinyl, cassette and CD. Wish I had the 8 track!
Hair of the dog - это сокращённо от Hair of the dog they bit you... Под этот альбом я в компании друзей встречал 1977 год. Сосед , старый дед,стучал нам в стену, а на следующий день утром прибежал и нажаловался моим родителям, которые вернулись от бабушки. 😂
My parents and uncle would play this every now and then, but it didn't hit hard until I saw both Dogtown and Z-Boys and Lords of Dogtown. Now, whenever I hear it or when I put it on, I think about skating and/or just getting ripped at a show!
I love the story of dan meeting Robert Plant and Jimmy Page and not knowing who they were , Robert borrowed 15 quid for gas and he never paid him back. He loved to tell that story.
I was a turret gunner in Afghanistan and this was playing on my mp3 player when we got into a firefight, MA Duce talking while Nazareth was saying Now your messing with a son of a bitch, now that's a memory
The first time I heard this song was while stationed in Keflavik Iceland in the barracks. The song was never heard on AFRTS radio, but several people got the album. Love Hurts by Nazarth was the only song heard on AFRTS radio.
RIP Dan and Manny. Great guys. In the late '90s my band was playing in Peterborough Ontario Canada. I gave Scotty a call on New Year's Eve. I met Dan and Manny at The Queensbury Arms. In Toronto. Triple A on top of the world ROCK GODS. Nah just regular dudes that like to shoot the shit and have a laugh. We are all Scottish when you get down to it... I will be 60 in May. First of all - this album was in bas relief. I remember touching it for hours - and I am not even a creep. But Nazareth's Greatest Hits? I cannot even count how many cassette copies of that album I wore out. Second of all - there is no second. One of the best bands ever. Immortal. Timeless.
More COWBELL!!!! Killer song. Scared the crap out of many when drunk bad asses were around and this came on. 'Oh crap...we better get out of here. Something bad is gonna happen soon." Damn sure it did. Still love this song when crap is all around me. get saved. Find Jesus Christ. Amen.
