Honestly, i think you're praising the depth of the game too much. It has good depth, but nothing new in that area. No mamba moments, no draft mode. Not much news in terms of creating players, no new classic teams, no olympic mode, no return of create a legend, no return of all-star weekend. It has depth, but that's cause it had so already, there's nothing to further it besides the expansion stuff in mygm/myleague. Great analysis of gameplay though, it has a flow that really resembles real life basketball.

it has a flow that resembles real nba if curry shoots miracle 3s every possession, if basketball has curveball that lead to turnovers, if fluidity you mean cannimations..were you are stuck. this guy is all about animations...he loves eyecandy...lost of control does not make the game better but worse. we can just set strategy and watch 2k trump scenariois... that's what's happening online for the most part. zigzag cheese is back....and nothing defense can do about it...let's not mention moving screens and charge cheese....your review is as garbage as this damn Game
These are some of the times I noticed: -Floaty passes -Transition defense and offense is terrible -CPU can't defend without fouling -Post defense is so poor -scoring inside the paint is a little TOO easy -Guards not being able to out run bigs on fast breaks -The start up on the shot meter doesn't correspond with the exact time you press squad/x or use the shot stick.

why is everything I do tied to Justice Young? I was a lottery pick he wasn't yet he levels up faster. He was put into the starting lineup at the same time. When I come out the game so does he and, when I come in the game so does he. I want to be the star on my team I don't need Justice stealing my thunder.
The problem is 2K has no competition anymore so they are slacking off and getting lazy. It used to be that 2K was always the underdog and EA was the king of the crop with NBA games so they had something to prove and put good effort into their games and eventually took EA over but now it seems like they aren't making their NBA games as good anymore. 2K17 is a good basketball game no doubt but there are so many small things wrong with it that make it annoying to want to play. I would say yes it's much smoother then 2k16 but not much better overall. 2K needs to step it up more because i wouldn't sleep on EA next year after taking off this year they just might surprise people and finally get it right im hearing they are taking more time to put out the next NBA Live that's why they took this year off to have more time to get things right. Overall i like NBA 2K but for the last few years or so there have been alot of flaws and disappointments not as bad as NBA Live but still they could do better.

Also, i know you don't play mycareer that much, but i would've liked to see you touch on this. They are ruining mycareer by focusing wayyy too much on getting into e-sports. Obviously they should focus on e-sports too, but they should really seperate pro-am from mycareer, cause they are limiting your mycareer player too much. You're supposed to be a massive talent out of college, but you can't be a diverse player, cause they want to balance out pro-am.. That SUCKS for people who don't play pro-am. Let me put it like this. PG and Kobe are on the cover this year. It's impossible to create a mycareer player who resembles either, cause of the insane stat caps. How does that make sense?
I agree and they do it to break you into buying vc which is bs because I like grinding but I'm so garbage that the in game vc barely pays enough to build up my stats to even compete. The higher vc cost put too much time into saving up so you may save 5,000 vc just for one upgrade. I had to lower the difficulty just so I can even make this game enjoyable. Doing Work was a good idea until you realize it doesn't improve your stats worth a damn and you just open random attribute caps.
Great review 👍🏻 Judging by what I can see it does look fairly similar to last years game (which I agree, was the best NBA sim ever). I think steal dynamics needs to improve drastically still. Instances where a player is dribbling and just stops when the ball gets deflected. I still feel the ball handler has too much protection against the D. Even when dribbling the ball unprotected he's likely not to have it stolen. Blocks are definitely improving, but a wider variety of block types can still be added. The chase down was a great improved addition last year. One on one blocks at the rim could be better. What about an option to change rim & net dynamics and colour..You have a look internationally, and even throughout NBA history and the way the rim and net behave during a shot or dunk varies, as do the way they look. You could opt to have softer rings or 'slower' nets if you wanted....would add to the overall customisation capacity of the game allowing for even more freedom. Just a few thoughts...
I too thought there would be a Kobe mode like the Jordan mode from 2k11. I know he shows up to play you 1 on 1 with you in Mycareer, but that disappointing.
Probably the best 2k since 2k11 but theres a few things i think need to be patched. 1. The a.i double team logic is terrible at times. 2. A.i unnecessarily doing a step back on jump shot. 3. Big men not dunking enough in the paint when they should. 4. Sometimes you get weird layup animations which lets you get blocked way too often
my only problem with this game is how they handled play now online this year with the horrible matchmakings. i miss the old unranked days where before the game you and the opponent can see each other picking teams and also had the chance to back out the game if the opponent literally wants a mirror match or whatever annoying reason it is. i m sick of picking the lakers and then facing someone also using the lakers over and over again SMH
the game play is a huge step up from last year but if anyone plays my career the team that you are on in my career no matter who it is are still dumb as rocks for my teammates. they don't shoot when they wide open for three and they shooters etc I thought they would have stepped up ai intelligence but they ain't that good! great video fp

Great idea : VC to use to max out myPlayer, another currency to use on Pro-AM stats that will be capped. So your MyPlayer can be a 99, the Pro-AM stats can be whatever 2k wants you to cap at

I've always wanted to 2k actually allow you to adjust the three point arc to your liking. I'm not sure if that is a legal issue, but it appears it isn't a problem because in my career they are adjusted adequately for college and as you see in the euroleague arenas in play now, they are adjusted. maybe it could be a coding thing...but if thats the case, wonder how hard it could be to patch that up so you can actually adjust it. i love the fact that you can edit all the teams now, which is a big upgrade in my league, but still the college immersion feels off becuase i'm distracted by how far back the arc trails. it's not a that big of a deal, i just feel like that would add to the immersion and "sandbox," experience. hell for specific era leagues, they should let you to take away the arc as well!
I miss the My player post game press conference from 2K13. I liked being able to screw up chemistry if I got pissed at my teammates playing like garbage.

Honesty I'm enjoying 2k17, being that I only play when I'm high makes the game much more enjoyable, I pay attention to detail more and it makes me appreciate the little things about the game
As a casual gamer NBA 2k16 7.99 preowned vs new 2k17 59.99. I would pay 10 maybe 20 bucks to update rosters but, hell no they don't deserve my $60 every year. Honestly the game has looked the same to me the last ten years or so.
Charles Barkley and Reggie Miller will not allow any game to use them or their likeness. This has nothing to do with 2k, but I've noticed there's only the current KG for myteam. No old school KG is a problem.
how are people ONLY talking about translation defense all of it is awful nobody notices how the ai leaves someone wide open every trip down the floor even in the half court I had moments with all 5 guys on the paint on defense what the hell happened this year 2k we're 2 updates in and it just keeps on happening FIX IT
Aron Mik I recommend 2k16 it is pretty much the same game only better, if u play my career definitely 2k16, I feel like there is no storyline for 17 but a proper story to 16 but if u play my park and online then 17
first off..dont you just love those old Charlotte Bobcats throwback Jerseys..i miss those..#704Charlotte all day...I love the pace of this game, like the ball physics and my fav new lil wrinkle is in MyLeague i can adjust the salary cap. my issue are the changes to the shooting(unnecessary) and the substitution overlay. during gameplay you cant sub in your whole bench, you have to do it one by one in a not so user friendly menu. Even during timeouts, your subs don't come in it makes you wait until the next dead ball. Even if you hit the start button and go to your subs you cant hit R1 or L1 to bring in platoon line-ups. hopefully this gets fixed with the first patch
One thing I'd want to see as further utilization of your myplayer in mycareer mode would be that kind of senior effect. Through your connections, If your the star on a team then you should be able to influence noteworthy free agents to join you. kinda like 2k15 but you being able to do that. Or be team captain and be able to talk with coach about cutting certain people or wanting other certain players on the team's hit list. Presentation for you as a star free agent could be improved. There's some classic teams that seem more possible to attain like the '10-'11 Bulls. Something small in presentation that I want to see is the players walking off the bus before the game. I think it would make it a bit more immersive. being able o see Russell wearing something crazy or your myplayer wearing His formal wear. And better formal wear
For some reasons they have the hairstyle that Marcus Smart and Allen Crabbe have ON THEM, but u can't put that hair on your myplayer or on created players
MyTeam is broken right now in regards to CPU play. Those lob passes that were mentioned are so true as well as the percentage of CPU shots made being too high meaning if they're open they never miss, way too many foul calls and they almost always convert the and 1, teammate defensive AI is almost non-effective once again and many other issues. I just hope they fix them fast, the game mode isn't enjoyable because of those issues.
Guys I just wanna know (if anybody can answer my question) is there a mode in the game where you could play a regular season like last gen 2k, you could play a season where you pick a team and basically you play the whole season, you get all the game schedules up to playoffs, I just wanna know if 2k17 has that!
If they can fix the body types for created and non created players and fix the presentations I'll be happy I love the gameplay this year and how fast it is, I love the new better stealing animations but it seems like it almost to easy to get steals but overall love this game! Also I still don't like the my career mode honestly they should just let us have choices through out the whole thing and make cut scenes smaller. Like I want my choices to effect how my story is played out. And quit picking our nicknames and let us and at least in the cut scenes say the name we chose or our last name, other than that I love this game so much
I haven't bought this game yet, but what I've seen on the game footage so far, the spin move turnover is still there! I know it happens in real life but sometimes, when someone beats you on the spot while doing a spin move, your movement just stops instead of just dropping the ball and easily turning it over. Chris Smoove is right, this is a copy-paste version of 2k16. Changes are cosmetic and are just add-ons that can still be implemented on last year's release.
17 too complicated for me.. mycareer isnt as interesting either, I'd recommend 16 for mypark and the shot meter etc. I get bored on 17, I can play 16 all day

Tyler Guirsch It really did, they updated every week so it feels new. NBA 2k17 counters that by having multiple color commentators for different games.
16 is MUCH better. This is not player or user friendly whatsoever. You can't spin move, can't cross over, can't lose your defender. Also there is a delay in defense. It gives the guy on offense that split half second they need to get by you.
I need the create a player suite to be improved so bad. I get so upset seeing it get no improvements over the last couple years. Especially considering they take stuff out that used to be there like goggles, tattoos, body types etc.
I was just telling someone about that, basic transition D is still terrible. And even in transition offense you'll see both wings drift off to the three point line instead of cutting to the rim
if this keeps up I just don't know. 2k has really went downhill with their games. I'm on the edge of making this my last NBA 2k game and switching back to NBA live.

Hey Brian...I appreciate the review....good job....u did, however, forgot to mention a big drawback of the game which is not being able to preset starting line ups and Point of emphasis strategy prior to an online versus game. We were able to do this last year. We are able to do this in local "vs" games but they missed this very important function online. I don't get why they did this.....Shame 2K🔔

The bodies on this game is the only major flaw. The body proportions/physique is way off. Some players that should be ripped/big are looking like they have anorexia. Anyone who knows the past, you know that Kevin Willis (Hawks) was a big guy. Had big and ripped arms. In the game, he has no muscle at all. His arms are as small as Durant. This is my only major nitpick.
You haven't seen my created caps. This year I'm going to have Franchise promote my players. I make them look like real cyber faces only doing CHRIS WEBBER, STEPHON MARBURY, CHARLES BARKLEY, REGGIE MILLER, RASHEED WALLACE, JEROME WILLIAMS. May take some requests but usually when people see that I'm really spot on they tend to bombard me with requests and it gets frustrating..!! I will do a video on my channel so you all can see when I drop roster.." I will do two rosters 1 with stats and 1 with players stats not set.

you did miss one thing that I think 2K has had a major problem with for a long time and thats uniform accuracy, I mean just look through the current Lakers uniforms and you'll see what I mean.
Ive only a few exhibition games with my friends and Im already not feeling this game gameplay wise. when i went from 15 to 16 the graphics looked better there was different passing Mechanics and you could actually play good defence. Now the graphics dont look as good. If ur playing on ball d the square/x button is now the reach in button, u cant just go towards a loose ball u have to tap a button which caused me multiple possessions eventhough my player was there but a guy like 10 feet out came by and scooped it up😑. Every thing is called a foul and the shotmeter looks and feels like pure garbage. Maybe I'll get used to it later but i really dont like these changes.
