I don’t want skill based matchmaking bc I have a job, daughter, and school. I don’t have the mental capacity to try hard EVERY single game. Sometimes I just want to have fun and chill. Not to mention 2k doesn’t have the servers to make it acceptable to try hard. One game you’re running smooth and the next you’re waiting 3-5 business days for button input🤦🏾♂️, and playing 99 reds requires precise and exact timing.

Here’s my take on this: Skill based matchmaking isn’t necessarily a bad thing, it’s just that 2K messed up BIG TIME with it. Black plates shouldn’t face against red plates yes, but red plates should not only play against red plates and 2 red plates with a black plate should not play against 2 gold and a brown plate. For example: me and my brother who play casually and just got to gold plate went in the theater and faced against cashout and Enzo while Enzo was on a black plate ( aka the top 2 reps in the world!! ) Sorry for the yappathon but do u guys agree?
The servers are bad enough. Now add in the fact that the match making isn't based off connection. Lmao. In every game that exists, SBMM ruins the community when in pubs. Every game. It's never been a good thing.

Also that’s the purpose of a ranked mode to play people on your skill level, the fun and excitement of online play is playing against everyone of all skill gaps not playing the same player over and over again it gets boring it’s annoying playing the same style every game Also nobody was playing randoms all day in previous 2k”s it was random one game your will get sweats next your get bums and then get decent players it was random that’s how it should be in casual modes especially if they want to keep talking about realism

Even though locks were the shit, you could still beat your match up as a guard, specially if you were a really skilled guard and the lock wasn't really extreme comp just solid. It literally depended on who was using the PG or the lock.

Skill based match making is good because if you're just a casual why would you want to play sweats. Sweats should play other sweats. It makes sense to play good people if you're good.

Not even RU-vid’s or Streamers. I was happy with the announcement of a ranked mode and SBMM, but who thought it was a good idea to make everything but the park/open city counts SBMM. WHERE IS THE “FOCUS ON BASKETBALL” MENTALITY, they said that last year and haven’t still. Lastly i miss being able to help “bums” and “randoms” by giving them 2klabs jumpshot and telling them what they don’t know, how am i supposed to help others get better when my teammates all know how to speed boost, crab, dribble, what badges to max +1. this is why i just play mycareer on hof difficulty like we're back on 2k10 (the good ol' days). the community is toxic af and 2k enables this behavior.
What i also noticed badge is that if your playing and you win and 1 of your teammates quit mid game your streak resets and sends you to the event lobby after the game
Then on top of that a 1v1 game takes like 15 minutes to end now because me and the opponent just missing and getting stops 🤣. Just played a kid who went 11/30 and the game was still close 🤦🏽♂️
Every year now I make builds with different overalls for this exact reason. The way I section it is 60-80 ovr will get u put against straight bots 81-92 ovr will get put against average players and 93-99 will be sweats.
So basically…hear me out…..basically comp players want more games against bums. If you are ranked then you play other ranked not the casuals everybody slander. 🤣🤣🤣

As a person who has only complained in this 2k and in 21 (bc zens) everything ain’t a skill issue. Sbmm is kinda stupid when the average player can win 2 games against THEIR skill lvl then automatically have to play red tiers until they’ve lost enough to be back at their skill lvl. Sbmm is only for players who are extremely good or extremely bad. The average player (casuals) can’t succeed in Sbmm but yet they want casuals to be able to??
I think it should be skilled based matchmaking everywhere except the park because that’s open world basically but if it searches for teammates/opponents it should be skilled based 🤷🏽♂️ because casuals would rather play have a even chance unless they go to the park.

Here’s my problem with SBMM. I play on PC and I’m a red rank. Finding games in the rec or proving grounds is literally impossible because there simply aren’t enough red ranks online. Ever. This morning I sat in a rec lobby by myself for almost 30 minutes. I made a rebirth and hopped in and got a game immediately. I think they should just have it for the proving grounds.
Alright, sbmm ruins games completely, I don't care about casuals. If you are a casual, you should play good players and bad players, just like comp players, why it's a balance, get better and overall the skill of the game everyone will get better and adapt, make the matchmaking some way balanced. Some games play casuals and then play competive players. Not EVERY GAME SHOULD LAST 20 PLUS MINUTES AND BE A SWEAT FEST!
And like badgeplug said, it again needs to be a mix, but if you want to play purely comp, that's for proving grounds. You should not play comp every single game, but you should also not play bums every game.
Now we complaining about SBMM? when are yall gonna realize yall tryhard comp players about 10% of the community plays as much as you/is as good as you. So, naturally your not gonna find games in a CASUAL gamemode you do know the stage exists? Proving grounds exist? You can’t take away the jump shot meter on events like Godz. The ratio of casual players who rely on looking at the meter still compared to people using zens are probably incomparable.
I like this conversation but imagine being a black plate loading into random rec and your matchup is a red plate lol. People will quit so fast now you constantly playing the A.I.
The problem isn't the rank system. The problem is We all know when there's double rep in the Event Center pro am, rec etc... all the sweats will be in there reping up and dudes take full advantage to go to other places in the City to beat up on casual players or guy that don't take the game serious
I've been a PC player since 2K11, switched to the PS5 in 23, i gotta say the PC community on 2K is possibly the worst i've ever seen in gaming, full of toxic people and chinese hackers. If it was me i wouldn't even release this game on PC and this is why they banned PC from the crossplay.

The casuals make up the majority of the player base, other than the long waiting lobbies, SBMM is fine, play ppl that are on ur own level, out of everyone, RU-vidrs and “comp” players should be complaining
