Right. It was really disappointing at first because his ceiling seemed so high, but the last two years have been a consistent decline of relevance of him. Watched the nets the other day, he made no level of impact in that game.
I don't blame him. Jimmy Butler worship is one of the most annoying things on NBA Twitter. You'd think he'd never had a bad game, let alone a bad playoff series.
I wouldn't trade for Butler, period. Just not convinced that a bruised and battered former Thibs player in his mid-30s with a questionable jumper is swinging a title. That said, why are people so high on Amen? People act like a jumper is a minor skill in 2024. It's not. Unless you're a center, if you don't have a 3pt shot, you're useless. I don't care how good a defender and passer you are. And neither Thompson twin has shown even a hint of potential as a shooter.
Amen Thompson for a 35 year old jimmy butler is definitely proof that that mucinex haze is still going strong. I wouldn’t do that straight up, much less Houston adding more to that. I would need butler and a first or herro for Thompson, he could be our second best player in three months. What does jimmy butler sitting out half the regular season do for the rockets exactly?
I'm probably one of the only ones who thinks Simmons would be awesome, on the right team. All the space now days, he's getting to the basket or passing to an open corner three. Size and D, shooters all around him it could really work.
The arguement about Tatum's shot in the Olymics is wild seeing as no one was really shooting well for the most part but other players had a chance to work through it with game time.
I'm happy that JJ is 'coaching' the Lakers now and no longer a color commentator. I never could stand listening to the games he was an announcer in; furthermore, he was always a prick to his announcing partners like Dave Pasch. Tim Legler is actually likeable unlike JJ. I agree with Bill on indoor arenas not translating well to the television viewers. I enjoy ATP 250 events, because they play some of them at really exotic outdoor locations like Gstaad and Kitzbühel. Anything played indoors just looks the same unless you are actually there in person and experiencing it firsthand.
I want you to do me a favor. Pull up Steph Curry's game logs from last year. Now I want you to tell me how many games he had shooting under 30% from three. Spoiler: it's a lot. You don't know how shooting works from night to night, do you? His shot may be fixed, and he may end up shooting a career high from three this season. That doesn't mean he's going to shoot 40% every night. That should be pretty obvious, but I guess I have to spell it out.
Listening to the segment with Jacko on the full podcast and he asked if Mary Hart is still with us. It’s okay to admit you don’t who she is. She’s the blonde woman sitting directly behind home plate at literally EVERY Dodgers home game. If you’ve watched a Dodgers home game this post season, you’ve seen Mary Hart. So yes Jacko, she’s still with us and she’s front-row-center every Dodgers home game.
The Timberwolves feel like they took a torch to their momentum, for no reason. KAT didn't shoot well in the playoffs, but hell, this was their first deep run in the playoffs. It wasn't like he was 0 for 10 or anything. 19/9 for a team that defeated the defending champions in 7 games. They didn't run it long enough to determine if this was going to be a thing or not. This wasn't a Charles Oakley for Horace Grant type of "open it up" trade. At least I hope not. Wouldn't that be a terrible reason for a GM to make a move? "Well, the Bulls gave away Jordan's favorite guy for a player who wasn't as good and look what the Bulls ended up doing!" That doesn't work if it's the #2 guy going instead of the #3 or #4 guy you're giving up chemistry for. This felt like a blockbuster for the sake of one. Utterly arbitrary.
This should be the Six Overreacttions After One Game podcast and I went to the Clippers preseason game; the Intuit dome doesn't look like any other arena in person.
Two Memphis points: 1: looks like you are gonna be left holding a lot of over-valued Edey stock. 2. As a team, sure they escaped with a win, but they looked so undisciplined... putting the Jazz on the stripe 45 times? what? what will happen when they play a team that has more skill players than just "The Markksman" (not to sell him short). I think you said in the over-under segment that you wouldnt be surprised if they are top 3 in the West. Hope you hedge ;)
13:37 This has to be the most nothing take he has had in a while. Like fucking obviously it's gonna feel different if you're actually at the arenas. MSG looks the same to me as Delta Center on TV, but that's not the point. It's a whole different experience actually being there, and that's who it's meant to be for. And the worst part about this take is KD himself admitted that the stadium was affecting him. Come on Bill, if you didn't have a 6th thing to talk about don't just force takes.
The Age 27 year is well known in MLB analytics as well as the prime year in many player careers, particularly if that player does not take performance enhancing drugs. Its also complicated by injuries, whether that player is still improving in terms of their skill, any "chips on their shoulders" or whether it's a Free Agent year, so it's far from certain, but we can expect great years this and next for Tatum.
I am fully a hater but the Celtics game was incredibly impressive and also I just didn’t enjoy watching it. I sound like an old man but there were way too many threes
It was a blow out was the problem. They kept shooting 3s because they were getting open and nailing them. From their perspective I guess if it ain't broke don't fix it?
I don’t hate it as much when teams are making them and Bos was obviously on fire for 3 quarters. But the games where both teams are firing them up and it’s miss after miss are just unbearable.
Unfortunately that is what the modern game has become. It's definitely less exciting, but it's still something you can appreciate when you don't compare it to better basketball and just take it for what it is now.
@@jasonlevesque6340bro stop crying, the nba has so much more variety than it ever did. There’s no way you can watch the Pacers and the Magic and say that they play the exact same. Even if every team played like that it would be better than anything from the 2000s
Simmons doens't mention that JB was 27 last year and won FMVP smh. Also I took 13-1 mvp odds because if you watch preseason you could see his stroke was back
JTs not an MVp, his % will go down to his avg. hes still not getting by anyone. dont mean hes not great - defense, playmaking, decent shot to keep ppl honest.
Not on the right side of history bro, stop the Westbrook hate! Everyone boils it down to discrediting the triples doubles, but neglect all of the other things he did to deserve that MVP
"Tatum maybe winning MVP" is not something going on in the NBA. With Luka, Jokic, Embiid, Giannis, Wemby, and SGA in the league, Tatum will never separate himself to the point of being a legit contender for that award. The competition is too harsh for him. Beyond his competition, his lack of aura, inability to be the best player on the Celtics for even 3 games in a row, and game devoid of dominance will make it so he never wins the award.
If Bill actually watched his own team’s game he’d realize that Bridges fixed the hitch mid game and went back to his own shot. View the tape. But whatever.
I 100% believe that Ben Simmons is actually going to be a really good player this year, some team is going to give him a 3-4 contract, and then he'll resume being the worst player in the league.
Missi ROY? Theis is only competition, Pels DESPERATE for a center. Might get enough minutes to put up moderate numbers needed to win with this class. Put up 12 & 7 in debut.
The Cam disrespectful is honestly ridiculous. Dude was 14/27 from the field. Would've had 7-8 assists if his teammates could actually make shots which they can't. You gonna tell the only guy on the team who can get buckets to stop getting them at pretty damn good effeciency Bill? Maybe you would cuz you're definitely not knowledgeable enough to actually be his coach and that's why you do this Podcast instead.
whats with NBA players like Tatum and SGA having personalities the writers of NBA 2k came up with? this is WNBA level aura from our best players. weird.
Tatum has 2 personality traits. #1. Deuces dad #2. Loves Kobe. That’s it. We already knew that and a whole Netflix series couldn’t find anything else in his personality 😂😂😂
JT is not an MVP candidate because the team is too good and JB is almost at his same level while the leadership of the team is clearly sitting on multiple players. It was not about the shooting.
