@@anthonyrivera2306 We should know by now that analysts are not good enough at predicting talent to see this as a lock. There is a world where 2 years from now we will be amazed by how many great players came out of this draft. Jahlil Okafor and Markelle Fultz were considered all-NBA locks, De'Aaron Fox was thought to likely never develop a consistent offensive game; we just never have an idea of how these drafts will pan out.

There can be multiple truth values. We call a draft deep (in hindsight, anyway) if it has quality starters picked outside the lotto, but to call it “good” you want at least one era-defining star. The 1999 draft for example had decent depth but no prospect worth tanking a season for.

While I agree with the premise of your statement Bowen was primarily a corner 3 shooter, he was just ass as a shooter period. Huerter is disrespectful being a mid free throw shooter.

Bowen and Tucker are the exceptions that prove the rule. They are bad shooters who learned to make one specific shot. Likewise you can have the inverse -- Ricky Rubio is a bad shooter who could make free throws at almost 90% And yes there are good shooters who don't make FT at a high (>86%) rate like Huerter and Dale Ellis but it's rare. And bad FT shooters who become good shooters with Karl Malone as probably the best example But the overlap between good overall shooters and good FT shooters is like 90%. The correlation is _extremely_ high And ultimately the draft is about probability. The probability that a bad FT shooter will be a good shooter is extremely low. Betting on that is like staying on 14 when the dealer has a face card. You might be right but the odds aren't in your favor.

Becoming? I think he needs to prove he can be more than that. Bones or Lou Williams is basically what you are looking at. He didn't flash the playmaking to be much better than Lou and he's gonna get mercilessly hunted on defense

He’s too small and his comps are score first guys - Lou Will and Bones Hyland. Spurs need shooting and a primary playmaker (among other things).

You completely missed the point. The concern is that he's Thon Maker. He intentionally chose a circuitous route to the NBA at every step where he could fall back on his potential and hide whether he was good or not. No one is saying the NBL isn't a tough or physical league but that by being a backup, Sarr was effectively not wanting to expose his game to the level of scrutiny he'd get by playing 30 mpg anywhere else

Lmao he can't defend and teams will swarm him Everytime he's the floor it will be a layup line for the other team. He just can't move his hips and feet fast enough to keep up with NBA guards and in isolation he has zero chance Go watch Joel Embiid try to post up and watch how hard he has to work. It's just not a viable option in the modern game. And that's Edey's strength. He's not some bouncy lob threat like Derrick Lively who can be a rim roller. The only reason Jokic can post up is 1) he dribbles into post ups and 2) everyone is terrified to double him

@@ericwilliams626 Embiid is an MVP because of his mid-range scoring, athleticism and defense not because of his post game. Edey doesn't have Embiid's shooting ability, athleticism or defense. He doesn't have Duncan's athleticism or defense or shooting. He doesn't have Jokic's touch or passing. Yes, Edey can score in the post but that doesn't matter if no opponent will let him do that.

Sarr isn't close to Clingan as a drop big right now and Clingan has better feel as a roll man and is a significantly better screener Clingan is a 9/10, 7/10 and 2/10 in those areas and Sarr is 5/10, 5/10 and 8/10 ... Clingan is just safer because he isn't just theoretically a good roller and rim protector. Also Sarr has told teams he won't play center and he's not as valuable at PF

Clingan is bigger and taller and is a better rim protector and screener currently. He likely has a higher floor than Sarr, even if he doesn’t have the upside.

@@jdankerdake Clingan doesn't have a higher floor. Versatility is king in the NBA now. Clingan is probably the least versatile player in the draft. Clingan could end up end up being unplayable because he can't move his feet and can't shoot. Sarr ability to guard 1-5 gives him a higher floor. Clingan cities end up being Hasheem Thabeet

@@JacobBellinger That's entirely dependent on the scheme. It might it might not. In Miami or Boston it definitely would. If you have Trae Young you obviously don't want to switch him onto a big so Sarr's switchability is irrelevant in that scenario And if you have Trae Young then having a better screener and roller is pretty f**king important since it's 95% of Trae's -- and by extension the team's -- offense
