This is the intro from Game 1 of the 2010 NBA Finals. Line-ups by the legendary Lakers' Hall of Fame Public Address Announcer Lawrence Tanter The song during the Lakers' line-up is Baba O'Riley by The Who
Not a laker fan, but I personally love the pa announcer, reminds me of John Condon, Madison Square Garden's old pa announcer, classy, clear and not over the top
Og Loc Tanter is the best. Smooth voice that complements the energy that the crowd is building organically. A steady presence that doesn't resort to the dramatic. Sadly I think he's the last of a dying breed.
@@ogloc4478 Yes indeed. Lawrence Tanter reminds me so much of my late high school principal -- he has a very distinctive authority-like voice, similar to that of the late Bob Sheppard (Yankee Stadium PA announcer from 1951 to 2007) and former NFL referee Ben Dreith. ;-)
It's been almost 4 months, and I still can't accept Kobe is no longer with us. Growing up with him in the Lakers, he just seemed so immortal to me. LA and the Lakers will never be the same without him.
The Lakers' intro is so classy with the classic announcer & music. Unlike the rap beats they play.. I know the beats can help pump up the fans and team, but I like how they keep it OG.
Lawrence Tanter. The simple man beats the hype man. The Lakers franchise et al, does not need some hyped up hype man. The show is on the court, not with the PA.
Ahh memories of playing basketball in my neighborhood, dads bbq almost everyday, all my family in 1 house & together before my house burned down, Kobe was still here & life was simple. Good times but onwards ✌🏼 Rip Kobe 💯
Kobe was and always will be a Laker King as Ricardo Masvidal pointed out but this is the greatest NBA franchise ever and it has had MANY kings. Mikan, Baylor, West, Chamberlain, Abdul-Jabber, Johnson, Worthy, Goodrich, Wilkes, O’Neal, Bryant...the list of immortals goes on. Kobe’s loss hurts but his legacy will endure forever.
Kobe looking down today on Game day NBA finals Miami feel bad for you guys but the Lake Show is taking it!!!!!!!!!!! 2020 nba Champions LA alll the wayyyy
@Thuggishdeer trust me, you can hear the fans. ive been there against boston. it just sounds different on tv because the arena is built deeper and safer than other arenas..thats why the utah arena sounds so load but believe me it gets pretty loud in staples
He was great. I like variety. The high energy works for some. The Celtics used to have a guy named Andy Jick. He had a clear, cool voice and kept it simple. That was before they turned off the lights and had all of these video intros.
@Thuggishdeer If you are actually there, you can hear the boos. ABC does filter a lot of it out. I went to one of the games against the Thunder, and the fans are much more vocal than the TV shows us. That was only the 1st round. I would imagine it to be a lot louder for both cheers and boos during the finals
@KesterBros for crying out loud, the song is by one of the greatest rock bands of all time, "The Who" and the song name is Baba O'riley. Lets get this 3 peat lakers fans, hopefully we hear this intro again this year, with the lakers in the finals, and kobe can get his 6th championship and tie michael jordan for rings. LA all the way.
The thing is he doesn't bring the fans hyped into the action and loud. He is just boring and dull. I been to a few Laker games. For not yelling he doesn't really show the enthusiasm for the Lakers and the fans.
August McAdoo i've actually lived in LA for nearly 2 decades and if you believe that the rich/spoiled hollywood crowd who are on their phones for the majority of the games "are another level to the excitement" then you're greatly mistaken. Through the many playoff games that i've been to at staples center and being one of the only fans' that wear the custom t-shirt given every time i've been to a playoff game, i have to say that the staples center laker crowd is despicable and the real laker fans are those outside of staples center. Anyways compared to the memphis, heat, and pistons announcers, lawrence tanter is nothing
@KesterBros oh. well as for the orchestra music i have no idea. i personally dont see whats so great about the orchestra music lol. but to each their own i guess. whatever pumps you up or helps you sleep at night. i dunno, go try googling it people. im sure you can find out through search engines.
DOES ANYONE KNOW THE NAME OF THE SONG THATS PLAYING WHEN THE VIDEO ON THE CURTAIN IS PLAYING? I'VE BEEN TRYING TO FIND OUT FOR SOOOO LONG AND CAN'T FIND IT!!! :/
@Thuggishdeer you obviously weren't there. And what are you talking about, I could hear pretty loud boos for the Celtics. And even Shaq said that Staples Center is the loudest arena. But the arena is designed differently than most arenas, like for example, Utah Jazz's arena, which projects noise directly down to the court so it makes it appear louder.
yeah but you also have to admit, both are worthy teams whether its boston or not. boston is one badass team and so is LA. theyll go down as the most dominate teams ever in the nba
I can't wait to see the Lakers in the finals again and see Steve Nash and Dwight Howard it's gonna b like Nash alley oop to Kobe Nash alley oop to superman
Does anybody know the song to the intro played from 1:16 to 2:04? I've noticed many comments on here wondering what that orchestral song is. I've been looking all over for it with no luck! Thumb this comment up so we can get it noticed and see if somebody out there can help us find the song title!!!!
@normenac Obviously i know that song. That wasn't the song that I was asking for. The song that is playing when the intro video is projected on the curtain. Like orchestral music. I know the songs that are playing when the names are announced.
@HarvardBlvd 2000 WCF game 7 was a pretty epic game, and a pretty epic crowd. The lakers are one of the only teams though that have a huge fan base every where they go. You see tons of laker fans constantly and laker jerseys on road games no matter where they go, even if its boston. Lakers are americas team. Any team that wins every year is, thats how it is in america most people are ignorant and arent even real fans of sports, they just say their fans of who ever is winning. new generation
To those requesting Celtics intro: I might be able to get it uploaded in a week. I'm not sure if I still have the pre-game for Game 3 on my hard drive or not, it might have been purged because of low space.
