Hakeem Olajuwon, David Robinson and Scottie Pippen were the top ranked players on the MVP list in 93/94 regular season, here's two of them in a great duel in Chicago Stadium.
Hakeem puts on a ''turnaround-fadeaway-jumper'' clinic in this one, great footwork and feel for the game.
Scottie Pippen: 25 points, 12 rebounds, 6 assists, 12/21 FG.
Hakeem Olajuwon: 29 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists, 12/19 FG.
Bulls won the game 82:76.

Pippen should have been MVP that year. No one expected the Bulls to be as competitive as they were without Jordan in 93-94. They held their own as defending champs without the GOAT

Pippen did great that season, but Hakeem was on another level. He was fully in his prime, and was a beast. Pippen did very good, but Hakeem was for sure the better player. David Robinson was also fantastic that season as well, and better then Pippen in the regular season.
@keyturner...

Considering Jordan had just retired who would ever thought Scottie pippen would have been in the MVP conversation that year. By default due to the circumstance I think he should have been MVP. Hakeem was mvp but I don't think he dealt with the adversity pippen dealt with that year

no, 9:59 is Olajuwon being completely unguardable. after he did that move 2 or 3 times in a row he would fake fadeaway to the baseline, get the defender in the air then step to the middle for a jump hook. he had about 10 different moves and fakes just from that position in the post. he had about 10 moves for every spot on the court lol. NEVER seen anything like this before and after.

The Pippen-led Bulls actually played better against the Rockets without Jordan.
@jxhnine2863
@jxhnine2863 9 лет назад
jaranarm The Bulls prior to this never had options like Kukoc, Kerr, Longley, Wennington or Williams and they actually had to face more of Hakeem in his prime, remember the one that averaged 14 rebounds and 4.6 blocks during a season? He was 27 years old then. This version of Hakeem in the video was 31 years old.
@jaranarm
@jaranarm 9 лет назад
Jxh Nine Hakeem at 31 years old was MVP and Houston didn't add guys like Cassell or Elie prior to this. From 90 to 93 the Jordan-led Bulls (who were the best team in the league and always finished top 4 in defense) lost 5 out of 6 games against the Rockets, a couple games they lost by being blown out. The new guys (Kerr, Kukoc, Wennington) shot a combined 39% against Houston in 94 while Longley and Williams didn't play against the Rockets at all that year, yet the Bulls as a team still evened out that series, with their one loss only because Pippen was out with injury. The Pippen-led Bulls with a bunch of new faces not known for playing great defense held the Rockets to a lower scoring average without Jordan and without team defensive coordinator John Bach that year.
@jxhnine2863
@jxhnine2863 9 лет назад
jaranarm He was MVP that year but does that mean anything? Who were his competitors for that title? Jordan was MVP during 97-98 but he wasn't MVP for multiple years in his prime from 86-87, 88-89, 89-90. I like how you just bring up 90 to 93. That's fine, do you remember there was the Olympics? Do you really think Phil Jackson would ever go all out to add to the wear and tear of his players and also giving team's experience of playing the real Bulls, and having tape for them to study on their defensive and offensive schemes, which would work against them especially against teams with potential of reaching the Finals. And do you recall when the Rockets won the game at March 25, 1991, at 100-90, and Hakeem only scored 13 points on a pitiful 29% with 6 turnovers and 5 fouls. And of all 16 official games that they met in before MJ's first retirement, MJ has outscored Hakeem in 12 of the 16 games. And even in his worst shooting game, he was still able to make close to 40%.
@jxhnine2863
@jxhnine2863 9 лет назад
jaranarm "The Pippen-led Bulls actually played better against the Rockets without Jordan." Based on one game. You bring up scoring average when it's a one game sample? My...then why don't you just say the Rockets were a better team than first 3peat Bulls since during that time their record was actually 6-2 ( instead of the 5-1 u mentioned) That would make way more sense than your original statement.

Very good video, that was the 1990s basketball, the greatest era in the history of NBA. So many great players playing in all the clubs and their focus was to win the title. The love of game was at its peak and you only have to watch each game played in NBA and the 'dream teams' in the Olympics in 92, 96 and 2000 to appreciate the caliber and the class of the 1990s players. The current crop of players, they moved around from club to club looking for bigger pay packet. They demanded on the fans to appreciate their game, no way. There only few who have earned fans respect Steph Curry is the first name that comes to mind but LeBron will never be in that list.

Record set straight ‼️🙏🏼 in 94-95, with the Bulls @ their weakest during the Jordan/Pippen "6peat years", 87-88 to 97-98: the Bulls split with the Rockets 1-1. This, without Horace Grant 🏆🏆🏆(Orl), without Cartwright 🏆🏆🏆(Sea), without Scott Williams 🏆🏆🏆(Phi). This, against the 1994 defending champion Rockets pre-Drexler for Thorpe trade. This, with Perdue 🏆🏆🏆, who was discarded in 94 because Williams, Cartwright, Longley, and Wennington were all more useful. This, also with Longley (0 rings by 95), with Corie Blount (no Rodman or Grant), with Wennington and Simpkins. The Bulls had a combined 3 trophies amongst their big men in 95, as compared to 12-15 trophies amongst their 94 big men. These center-challenged '95 🐂Bulls🐂 held Hakeem to 2/18 shooting, .111 % ‼️‼️‼️1 ast, 1 stl, 1 blk and won 100-83. Meanwhile the Bulls retarded tandem of Purdue, Blount, Longley, Wennington and Simpkins went for 27 pts, 23 rebs, 8 assists and 4 steals vs Hakeem, Thorpe and Herreras combined 27 pts ,15 from Hakeem, 23 rebs, 2 asts, 1 stl, 1 blk. Not to mention 1993-94 , the biggest year in question for the Jordan and Chicago vs Hakeem and Houston "what if?"... The Bulls were again 1-1 with Houston and they were 1-0 with Pippen vs Hakeem, 0-1 with Grant vs Hakeem. The Grant game: when Houston was in the middle of their 22-1 1993 start to the 94 season and playoff. Houston didn't really own Chicago in 94 or 95. In the only two seasons in the 90's where Houston proved they were even good enough to challenge Chicago, they were 2-2 vs a transitional Bulls team without Jordan for all 4 games, without Pippen for 1, Pippen 2-1 vs Hakeem & Houston, and without Grant for 2 games, 1-1. Another major caveat is that the 94 Bulls were adding Kukoc to Jordan, Pippen and Grant. Which is the second best 4some Chicago would have ever had with potential to be no.1 because it is only arguable that Jordan, Pippen, Rodman, Kukoc are better than the former (but 72-10 and 🏆🏆🏆 is hard proof to surpass 🤣). The 1994 Bulls with Airness, Scottie, Horace and Toni, may have been the best Bulls team of the 90's and maybe their best offensive team ever as Kukoc / Grant > Rodman on offense. The 1994 Rockets were not facing the 1993 Bulls. It would have been 1993 Bulls plus Kukoc and Airness back for a 4 peat. The Rockets would have played a different Bulls team in 94 and 95 finals then their regular season foe from 91-93 in Chicago... in regards to those seasons of 91 and 92, and the 61-21 and 67-15 Bulls vs 52-30 and 42-40 Rockets... in the playoffs? Good luck to Houston even winning a game. The only realistic chance when it counted, that Houston ever had was in 1993 when Houston was 55-27, and Chicago was 57-25 (still Chicago has home court 🤣) . The 1993 Bulls were already fortunate enough to upset NY and PHX teams with home court advantage. Not saying Houston wouldn't have done the same upsetting of Chicago in a 93 series, just saying no guarantee and that Chicago already climbed greater mountains in 93 playoffs than facing Houston would have been. Just saying that the Bulls 🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆 proves their pedigree really well. And if they faced Houston in every final from 91-95 with Airness in all finals, with Kukoc in 94 and 95, Pippen in all finals, Grant in all finals, the Bulls would have been the favorite. They would have had home court, and they would have had the better team with question mark over 93.... All that considered, the Bulls are @ worst 4-1 vs Houston in finals from 91-95, potential to be 5-0 like 60's Celts on Lakers tip, and had they gone to 8 straight from 91-98, and with combinations of rosters with Grant, Rodman, Kukoc, Harper, Airness, Armstrong, Cartwright, Pippen, the Bulls would most likely be 7-1, if not 8-0 vs Houston in all finals. But this myth that the 5-1 reg season records of Houston vs Chicago in 91-93 affects the 94 Bulls or even upsets 91 and 92 Bulls teaams is ridiculous, far-fetched, short-sided and ultimately disrespectful and ignorant. Which is why Maxwell and Horry woofing is as annoying as a Trump rally. It's called being wrong and not caring how stupid you sound.

@@tdvu I am based on the fact that Chicago sent 3 players to all star game in 94 + Kukoc and Kerr arrived and you add to this equation de GOAT....Houston was extremely lucky he retired

@@carlosgarcia8342 "extremely lucky" such a tired argument. Rockets wouldnt be able to contain Jordan. Bulls wouldn't have contained Olajuwon. One team and its superstar came to play both years. Not their fault MJ decided to do something else.

@@carlosgarcia8342 sending 3 players to the all star game =/= title. By your logic, the 2011 Miami Heat with their trio of all stars won the title against the Mavericks 🤷🏻‍♂️

@@tdvu just remember Pippen took the Knicks to a 7 game battle, the same games it took Hakeem to beat the knicks....sorry but I dont buy it MJ would have won 8 if he want to do it PERIOD

Too bad pip aint have one more piece that year other then pete meyers. Even if they had ron harper that year they prolly wouldve beat the rockets in the finals, barring that bullshit ass call against the knicks in game seven

Harper actually wouldn't have had that much of an impact against the Rockets they relied more on team ball rather than guard play in getting the team involved, that meant it varied from game to game who led the Rockets in assist.

not even close. olajuwon is a great Player, pippen is a supporting good player to Jordan. that's pippen's legacy.
