I think sometimes people forget, MJ averaged 5.3 assists per game...as a shooting guard. If he played point guard he could have easily averaged in the 7-10 assists per game range.

The spacing and pace in todays game. There is like 12 more possessions a game. MJ would average at least 40PPG. MJ was averaging 35PPG and 37.1PPG with out taking 3 pointers.

@@brianfettner2473 Shoot, even if he didn't take 3 pointers - MJ would get 10 more FTs per game LOL, and he would make 8-9 of them on average, so right there that would be 43-45 if he never took another 3 pointer haha.

Not only that, but the effort could not be faked. Not the effort by MJ or the effort of his opponents to stop him. And what? They were just putting the ball in the basket for him? Lifting him up to the rim? Faking his jump shot, his speed, his first step, his airtime? That he tried to make the argument takes away all his credibility.

Keep doing your research on MJ, and you'll realize there really is no comparison between him and other players. Seriously, MJ earned his stripes the hard way dealing with whatever he got from the Bulls GM., he didn't load manage or form superteams like today's era. MJ didn't ignore defense to save energy for offensive stats. Think about all that energy he spent on both ends and still played full 82 game seasons 9X and was one game shy of that being 10X. What superstar today is doing that? No shame for any player coming up short to Mike. MJ was just different.

Look, if you can't avg. 20 pts in today's NBA, you ain't nothing. Rules have made it easy for offensive play. This is why there is so much scoring inflation! MJ was averaging 37 without shooting tres, while being hand checked, double and triple teamed, with real big men clogging up the lane. He could literally do it all.He would live at the foul line and be dunking on everyone. In other words he'd be unstoppable on offense and the best defender. Check his stats and esp. his analytics! He is near or at the top in almost every measure.

The question about whether Michael Jordan would be able to have all the trophies and accolades, because everyone knew who he was. Yes, they gave the titles back then, to whomever deserved it, because they worked hard at it. It wasn’t just handed to him because everyone liked him. Which is what happens a lot nowadays, or your popular so let’s give you this so people will look at our sport, team, management, building, etc…. Bring that traffic flow or exposure. He earned everything he go, it wasn’t just handed to him. That’s the problem with a lot of athletes nowadays and celebrities, they win stuff just because they are popular, and they might not have the talent to back it up.

I just wanted to comment on they gave him fame worldwide. No. MJ earned the fame, because no one seen that before, you could actually see greatness in him the very first time you seen him. No ads in college, but he was most watched. Everybody thought he would go first but Portland looked over him because they were dumb. Chicago was a basement team, they wanted to build around him. His greatness made him famous. He was electric, he flew, he attracted everyone just by being MJ. There is no comparison, there is MJ, then the rest. No one today can attract the world by their play, because they are just good players, MJ was great, the world came to him. He won by 3 methods, talent, strength, WILL. Noone today has all 3. The man played better during the playoffs, better, cause he willed it after playing every game of the regular season. Which player today can attest to doing that? Until you find one, they are not great, they just good.

Saying that Jordan would average 50 in today's game isn't bold. It's just common sense to anyone who saw his career in real time. Defense was so much more intense in the nineties and before. There's two things to say about dropping MJ in today's game that he would totally exploit which would allow him to EASILY average between 40-50. First no defensive 3 in the lane which means no bigs to meat him at the cup!!! So just think about that for one second, there were lots of star bigs in that era that MJ that couldn't stop him which was a big part of his game. Secondly, no hand check. Now please tell me what you're going to do with MJ if you can't put your hands on him and if you did, think about how many more free throws the man would average. One last thing, all I hear from this generation is MJ couldn't shoot 3's. I strongly suggest you do some research and you'll find he added that to his arsenal later in his career!!! Besides, why would he make shooting 3's a focal point when he was UNSTOPPABLE anywhere on the court!!! Just saying

Young brother, LISTEN TO THE NBA LEGENDS. They played against him. No argument you could bring is going to beat their experience, none. Also understand that MJ was ahead of his time. It was as if you took a player from today and dropped him in the 80s and 90s. With the three second rule and no hand checking, MJ is going to go off. Throughout his career, MJ had SIX playoff series in which he averaged 40 or more points! So basically, he had done it already. even a 38-40, MJ was dropping 20 PPG on legends like Pierce, T-mac, Carter, Artest, Marion, etc. Also: Please try NOT to talk over the legends speaking. Just pause the video. I missed some of what they said.

Today's player being dropped into the 80's and 90's would be scared little babies, especially with as many games as they miss today because they have a sore toe or something. Nah, today's player wouldn't survive the 80's or 90's too soft. Lebron would be comparable to Karl Malone in the 80's or 90's and that is about it. Imagine if Karl played in today's game with free lanes to the rim. Guys chest and arms were out of this world and shoot Olajuwon playing in today's game. Laughable. All of the greats playing in the 80's and 90's are going to be probably 3 times better than they were in the 80's and 90's. 80's and 90's players way better, and would be even better in today's game 3 fold.

Every time he drives is an and-1, three point play...every time he does his pump fake, he will get fouled and your team will get into foil trouble. So 13-17 points from the line, around 18-24 from the field, another 6 from beyond the arch...that's 37 points on the low end and 47 points on a realistic high end, without even including any fast break points or transition baskets.

With how fouls are called he would get probably at least 10 more free throws a game(this goes along with the average increase statistically), he shot close to 80%, so let's add eight points to his averages. He averaged 37 in 1988, so 37 + 8 =45. And that's not accounting for less crowded paint where he was dunking on three defenders And now you make it easier.
@Tcheera

The 40 thing would be just one season. The 50 might be more of an anomaly - I think he'd drop 50 like maybe just 1 or a few seasons, but not overall. I think his average would be between 40 to 50. The only reason I think it would be anything less than 50 would be if they pull and force him to rest like they do to day, but if he does "love of the game clause" and won't let them? Then my man is getting 45-50. I mean what they are saying is dropping that MJ into today's era -- so it's going to be the same MJ, same killer. And he'd have to have VERY select players around him. People who could handle him being a bully -- but y'know I think he'd actually do fine if he just got some drafts from either people from overseas who just wanna play hard or people who aren't feeling entitled. Don't get me wrong -- I don't think you have to be an asshole to win. I do think you have to be able to tolerate an asshole to play with MJ. I also think he'd have a lot of trouble in the social media era. He would freakin' HATE everyone putting up their opinions and all that. And here's the thing -- THANKFULLY MJ played in his era and not this one. Why? Because MJ needed to play in his era, for this era to have the privileges of this era. Without MJ in the 80s and esp 90s, there would be NO current NBA as big as it is. The players would have less power than all the black men in the NFL during BLM. Thankfully he paved the way and the NBA gets to have what they have and speak up too. So I think it's all good that it played out how it did.

His 37.1 ppg was his 3rd yr after a broken ankle. He jumped higher and was quicker, and no Triangle Offense. The 215lbs Mike, after beating Detroit and 1st retirement, that Lean-back was deadly. He said in an interview once that he didn't want to shoot 3's cause he wanted to keep pressure on the opponents' defense. He already did 41 ppg in playoffs with hand checking, 37.1 reg season. WTF!!!

And back then they didn't have crazy diets like todays athletes cause Jordan loved to eat McDonald's cause he was sponsored by them and calories were great burn later.

Y'all have to add the fact that the era Jordan came from, was way more physical compared to today's NBA. So yeah, Jordan definitely could avg close to 50pts a game.

You take prime MJ--like 95-96 season--and put him in today's league and he would score *at will.* He would score three points virtually every time he touched the ball: two on the slash to the basket and 1 more from the foul line after drawing contact. No one even plays defense today. You can't hand check. And the tiniest contact is a foul. Not only would Jordan average 50 a game--just to START--but that number is conservative because people start to get into foul trouble. Starters and the few actual defenders end up on the bench and then MJ just explodes. The best response to "how many points would Jordan average?" Is simple. As many as he wanted.

MJ IMO would avg 45 points 5 rebounds 5 assists 3 steals 0.8 blocks (50% fg) (35% 3pt) sometimes (40%) 3-5 attempts per game (3pt) FT attempts 12-18 per game The rest from -Middys -Insane layups -Dunks EZ Work

Young man, how can you not go and look at michael's stats prior to making videos? It sure seems like these kids refuse to even do their homework about MJ before forming their opinion. Michael could and DID do everything. Scoring, passing, rebounding, defense and competitive drive second to none.

Jordan was a very good passer he went 32 ppg. 8 rbs. 8 asst. in 1988… he didn’t need to pass because his team was carefully crafted so he could focus more on scoring and defense. GO LOOK AT JORDANS PLAYOFF STATS. Dude put up 34, 7 & 6 in his sleep

He averaged 30 a game without taking a bunch of 3s also. It's simple, LeBron is the goat today but Jordan is the goat of all time. He would've excelled in any era.

When Jordan got swept by the Celtics he average close to 50 against a team that had 5 hall of famers on it. Jordan could score whenever he would want in today's league. I would say depending on his teammates it could be over 50 average.

He was 40, had a 50 point game, and played the next game as well, whereas Lebron has a 50 point game at 37, then takes the next game off for “load management”. 🙄

Mj wouldn't pass he'll just go in..hell earn a lot of points with free throws..mj would definitely make his 3pt shooting a lot better...maybe Kawhi can give mj a hard time scoring but mj scored on better defenders..

If you're so confused about Jordan pull up 80's and 90's Bulls games. Pull up Pistons vs Bulls and tell me if LeBron could take the beating Jordan took. Watch the video when Jordan is running at full speed past a Piston laying on the floor and he grabs Jordans ankle as he's running past. Tell me if LeBron could take falls like that. And with 0 defense at the basket Jordan would score whatever he wanted to no doubt.

The Harden comparison is not applicable ... MJ averaged 37 when teams were scoring ONLY 80-90 pts.... which mean the dude is 45-40 % of total output .. now teams are averaging 110 pts ... MJ will average 45-50 pts..

If you're going to compare Jordan to someone pick someone in his class and its not LeBron. Pick someone with Jordan's mental toughness not someone that needs help, or that flops all over the ground or keeps switching teams. Jordan played without any HOF or allstar players from 1987 to 1991. He was all ALONE and he played for ONE TEAM PERIOD.
