About NBA Live 18
NBA Live 18 will be be a sim-oriented basketball game, which aims to realistically portray the real National Basketball Association. Running on the IGNITE engine, it retains features such as Dynasty Mode, ESPN presentation, right stick dribbling controls, Rising Star, Ultimate Team, NBA Rewind, BIG Moments, LIVE Pro-Am, and other established staples of the NBA Live series. A new single player mode encompassing the NBA and streetball titled The One will also make its debut.
LIVE Pro-Am is expected to receive additional venues, as on February 16th 2016, Goodman League commissioner Miles Rawls announced that Barry Farms Coliseum in Washington, DC would be included in the next NBA Live game. Rawls' post on the Goodman League website also mentioned that the Drew League and Dyckman Basketball Tournament would be represented. In June 2017, a screenshot confirmed the presence of the Drew League, which will play a role in The One.

Extremely fair and honest review. The best I've heard. I honestly love the game. I'd give it a 8 myself. Another year or 2 u could see a really great game. They making huge strides. I'm excited for the franchise

franchise mode is everything ,. i never got into the online stuff , i love franchise and especially drafting and scouting which is why i was so pissed that college football was taken from me , the high school recruiting i was addicted to and creating your own class and then trying go out and make sure they signed to your school which not always worked but that was ok too made it even more exciting ... i just wish these basketball games would give us all the same seeing there is no college basketball games i want to be able to create players and stick them in the draft and then have them do a nba combine and all that great stuff for recruiting before the draft happens

Love this Game... I love that I have to work for my points and have to work for my victories... if you're not careful on how you play, you will get blown out by 30 or 40 points... especially in Superstar mode

I missed 2 consecutive wide open layups in 2k18. Returned that shit. Bought nba live . Am a much happier person in life. A game should not be frustrating but fun. Keep it up EA

I've been enjoying Live. 2K is gonna shoot itself in the foot with the microtransactions. Your game can't be p2p with an f2p transaction model and be p2w. That takes away from being able to play and progress. These games are about playing basketball but at this point, its becoming sad that players can't just play the game and make enough VC to progress their skills. 2K gotta keep the VC for just my team, not my career.

2k bought EA out hell look at WWE back then wasn't no WWE 2k or them buying out EA it was literally all three showing who was making better games so im guessing EA got tired of making games and let 2k buy them out so now everytime a live gets made everything is scripted now the hateful part is they took out the slam dunk contest even for the franchise or The One

They need to tone down the under the basket scoop layups. Tune the blocks. overall pretty fair game. Skin texture really does make the players life like

The up and under layups are over the top. Everyone turns into Allen Iverson while driving to the rack. Only certain players should be able to do those type of layups. And yes the blocks can be overpowered but it also can be amazing. I don't want them to alter the blocks too much where it becomes broken.

Did the patch tune down the scoop reverse??? I heard it reduced the blocks a tiny bit but that was reaslly the only gameplay note I've come across.

Joshua Miller live is trash compared to 2k. i was playing the live demo ever since it came out....they’ve come a long way but it’s still arcade feeling to me. layups are too successful and i feel like every player lacks finesse. i love the defense on live though, i wish 2k would incorporate it in their own game.

My created player looks like me tho compared to 2k I could care less for franchise mode the one is where it's at. The dunk animations look great too but the ball handing is gonna take some to get used to the controls. For $40 this game is good worth every penny.

Spot on! But no one seems to point out the overuse of the left hand when dining and with layups. It's as if they have some inverted camera thing that makes the player use the hand opposite of the rim. It's frustrating. People who are strong righties don't use the left unless they must.

@keith9842... I think it was a mistake for EA not to keep the game @ $39.99.... if you pre-ordered Live the game was only $39, but after launch the game went back to $60. That was a huge mistake by the marketing Dept. If the game was still $39 it would sell like crazy. But no way people are going to pay top dollar for no player editing, no create a player & a lack luster franchise mode. The game is good but it's too much missing... It should only be $39.

Definitely on the right path but you can tell they started development a few years ago. They are behind in a few areas, such as graphics, animations, it’s messy in the paint, and lacks all around depth. But it’s definitely a good start. Pro Am is pretty insane. Hopefully they don’t full on reboot again and they just fine tune it. Hopefully they look back at live 10 for crowd atmosphere btw. Also Mike Breen sounds like a robot in the game hahaha

I noticed that based on game play and cosmetics, you dont need to pay VC or microtransactions to get them. Major selling point for me - just wish NBA live was out on steam. All they gotta do is flesh the game out.

So true about the blocks, I'm on the Knicks and porzingis is averaging 6 blocks and has a game high if like 13 blocks but I'm loving this game more than I've ever loved playing 2k since they started loving microtransactions more than people actually grinding for their overall.

this game is FUN but has alot of ball tangibility and scripting issues. being a center, you feel nonexistent half the time as smaller players score right over you and take it right to your chest....and sometimes the game WONT LET YOU PUT YOUR HAND UP TO BLOCK THE SHOT even though youve pushed the button to jump, it blatantly scripts you out of the play so the other guy can score. this happened way too many times for me to overlook. also, idk what it is but on All Star and Superstar, you miss ALOT of shots that you should make. this is the games way of challenging you but its frustrating to miss easy layups and open shots while the cpu just keeps scoring driving layups right in your face. even when i turned driving layups down to ZERO and blocking up to 100 in the sliders, they STILL managed to punish me relentlessly with layups lol. i put in about 50 hours with the game overall, won a couple championships with the Timberwolves in Franchise mode and now im done with it. NBA2K16 is still the best basketball game ever made.

Definite improvement ... One thing EA needs to do though, allow user camera's so people can view the game how they want... That matters to gamers... I like the ESPN camera but it seems to far away, I want to zoom it in a bit and I can't, at least on the demo I couldn't ...

I still think they can add player editing in franchise mode and make WNBA games playable online through patches. If they don't it'll be a huge missed opportunity. Few months back when I heard WNBA rumors I was hoping that Pro-Am is where NBA and WNBA players will come together. I think that way they could make "The One" easily for female players to venture into their WNBA careers. Both leagues could parallel one another. It would be so fun, you'd have your offline career but then at anytime you could test your skills against other players online. This would be so progressive and really like nothing else out there. So I hope EA is writting this down :)

Have to respectfully disagree. The game should be ranked 8-8.5/10. Everyone is complaining about the lack of depth in other modes. Let's be real, all people want to play is The One, or if you're playing 2K, MyCareer. Live does need to make some tweaks to the game, I can agree on that. All 2K did was add a place where you can roam around, everyone lost their minds. Game play is still the same. I bought both and returned 2k, I'm not disappointed at all. Looking forward of what Live has in store for years to come.

C DelCo you obviously havent played mygm/myleague. The most fleshed out mode in all of video game sports. The customization and tools at your disposal is insane! From analytic tools, to scouting. That is why I play NBA 2K18. I dont have to worry about VC, i just play

I would Love to see the old school classic teams on this game, maybe next year, like the old Jordan teams the old Lakers the Pistons the Dominique Wilkins Atlanta Hawks... I would love to be able to play a season with the classic old-school teams... give me the Patrick Ewing Knicks the Hakeem Olajuwon H-Town Houston Rockets the Clyde Drexler Portland Trail Blazers and the Detroit Pistons with Isiah Thomas and Dennis Rodman the bad boys... bring back some real knock me out the game fouls back... Yeah

They'll eclipse 2K within the next 2 years. The game is great. 2K's play to win mentality with VC will be there downfall, as EA is just looking to make a good game with good core mechanics and presentation. Also, it can't just be me that thinks the courts look better here than they do in 2K, right?

This game needs massive fixing. The movement is like u is playing on damn ice might as well call it Live on ice.. When u try to steal the ball your player does some off the wall slide across the floor as if a magnet is pulling u towards it. Soon as u ask for a pass it’s like the team your playing against knows your move cause they will gang up on ya ass.

Im loving this game coming from hours and hours poured into live 16 i see every improvement and change and i love it so far whilst i know there are still problems that need serious attention i still love what this games becoming and what i hope it will be i love the addition of the WNBA its fun and to me felt different then the NBA im enjoying the game so far but i think EA will bring this game back to glory soon

Much better review than the garbage IGN put out. NBA Live 18 is just a ton of fun to play. Based on the feedback in the EA forums, it seems this game is going to receive plenty of updates so it will be interesting to see if they can clean up the negative aspects of the game and expand some of the game play options that are out right now.

I played both demos and 2K is way better. gameplay and commentating are more fluid. I'm sorry but they need to revamp the commentating. While playing a game on 2K ( which I have ) I had more fun listening to the commentating. animation on live is too choppy. and trying to shoot? THAT is an adventure. Sorry but 2K wins AGAIN hands down. Live developers need to go back to the drawing board and make a better game.

If you buy 2K prepare for unskipable scenes and a lot of vc buying or grinding . Live just prepare for horrible animations and lag to . I slide on 3 vs 3 idky . Basketball games are trash . Madden also lags . Ea is just trash .

I like the game it's realistic and the CPU is smart unlike in 2k where they're just dumb and they suck my only real problems are layups

Jim Borsch 2k's CPU and Help defense has aways been trash, and I thino he means how OP the Layups are in Live.

What I can't stand in this game is why the computer no matter what live or 2k game it is that the computer or whoever controlling the computer how come I'm the only person getting double teamed in every game event yes I like the game but damn why soon as I say I like the game hell is started only with me every time I get the ball in my hands immediately I'm doubled by two people and if I get by those two I'm then triple teamed or they just send nearly half of the defense at me just because I have the ball but never double team anyone that's on your team not to mention 2k18 everytime I create a player and play with them in League no soon as I get like five dunks in right after that they immediately injured my dude out of the game and I mean every character I create the shit is nerve reckoning
