Dude made $2.7M in total NBA salary and his current contract was worth $400k. Boggles my mind why he risked it all for just $22K. Players make so much money on salary that there is no incentive for any other player to try to pull this stunt.

Good sending the correct message all players, coaches and anyone involved must see that integrity honesty count in the penalty should be lifetime dismissal from the sport or any sport so that they can see that the gift was thrown away that they were given, and that other players will get the message as well and not have to face the embarrassment goes all the way back to Johnny bench, which should’ve been done at that time ever since then

I’ve been against allowing nationwide sports betting from the very beginning. Why? For just this reason. I told lots of people that stuff like this was bound to happen. We’ve already had cases of compromised referees, and now a player. I just didn’t know it would appear this soon. I told anyone who would listen that sports betting would eventually call into question the credibility and validity of the outcomes of sporting events. Now I’m beginning to really wonder how many games have been fixed. And I think the potential for the corruption of college players is much worse. Nationwide sports betting was a bad idea from the beginning…..that is if you care about the legitimacy of sports in America. I do.

How was this discovered? Was it through statistical analysis, to see if players or referees are altering their performance at key points or non-linearly? Or did someone tell the NBA that he was betting? If it’s the latter, then there could be a lot of other players betting and the NBA could be unaware.

Like I don’t understand either there’s a lot of players that have under performed in the past and people bet they’re unders like Bobby Portis is zero point game zero rebound zero assist and 27 minutes apparently it’s because someone bet his under like a lot this season but he wasnt a star breakout player so I don’t know

The NBA promotes gambling to fans. The NBA refs gamble- it wasn't just Tim Donaghy, word to Scott Foster and David Stern covered it up. MJordan gambled, Stern covered it up, and got a 1 year suspension. LBJ has connections to Klutch Sports that brings their represented players to LA ie ADavis, but no conflict of interest or integrity of the game complaints from Silver. LeBron James' business partner Maverick Carter reportedly admitted to placing NBA bets. Maverick Carter, LeBron James' longtime business partner and the co-founder of the SpringHill Company production company, wagered on NBA games through an illegal bookie, The Washington Post reported. The LA Dodgers pitcher gambled 40 million and made his interpreter the fall guy.
