NBA has the largest number of younger fans of any of the major sports. Those fans don't even consume the sport the same way the ancient demographic that is NHL fans; so many young NBA fans (and a lot of older fans as well, like me) don't watch games, they/we watch highlights. Game highlights for Hockey are as boring as Soccer, its 90% people almost doing something interesting.

The obsession with NBA ratings is dumb as hell. First, who cares? You like basketball or you don't. Why does it matter how many other people watch? Second, NBA fans tend to be on the younger side so ratings don't necessarily reflect how they engage with it.

Ratings have been a huge determiner of the sport for quite a while. Look at the ratings between Jordan retiring and Shaq Lakers, it was boring. Superstars are attracted to the most popular sport, and we're about to hit a drought.

Couple months back Silver was on ESPN airways and said something similar without mentioning ESPN by name...none of these people outside of TIm Legler analyses the game or breaks it down for the audience...its all about hot takes and hijinks or skits on ESPN...I really wish NBA hadn't come to a handshake agreement with them before the exclusive negotiating window ended,maybe NBC or TNT would've bid for the ESPN package though its hard to imagine Disney letting go of the NBA if they can help it

@@Nick-vs6qv the Knicks when fully healthy went 18-2 beating all of those teams, and still managed to get to 50 wins after losing OG for 2 months & Randle for the rest of the season. Who's to say they couldn't have gotten further. My point is that the Anti- Knicks bias is just as on brand as the heat homer nonsense. I normally don't care about this stuff, I've been a fan of the show 20 years....but Dan & JuJu just annoyed me for some reason today.

Same guys who spout that NBA is a superstar led league and complain about the superstars assembling but when alot of teams loose their top players in the playoffs they then complain that games are bad rather than learning about the rest of roster and rooting for said team...did people expect Cleveland that struggled to knock out Orlando to defeat Boston after loosing Donovan Mitchell(the two games without Donovan you could clearly see Cleveland were competing and keeping it close,just need a Donovan type player to edge Boston in at least one of the games) Clearly the LA clippers would've beat Dallas either in 5 or 6 with a healthy Kawhi....Philly would've been a tough out for NY(with a healthy team Juliius Randle included) had Embiid been healthy...Milwakee and Miami would've been tough outs for Indiana and Boston had they had Gianis and Jimmy Buttler healthy....maybe the ratings wouldn't have overtaken last year's but they would've been greater than where they are now...Mike acts like injuries haven't plagued majority of the teams especially when you consider we just saw a NY knicks team that almost lost their entire starting 5....I don't hear Mike talk about the march madness this way when most of those games are blowouts and majority of the players aren't even going pro on any level

You also have to remember us Pacer fans have never gotten any attention and it’s probly the best underdog story of the postseason and of the season in general yet no one ever wants to give us credit you also have to take into account this is also a fanbase who’s also still hurting from the story and season on the Indiana state sycamores and how nil took that away so to be denied our flowers in that spot just makes us super angry and yes I agree with Chris the show trying to stand up for us while having multiple Knicks centric guests while having no Pacers representation is the pot calling the kettle black

The NBA can never win. Only sport where most of media says the 80s and 90s was the best. What surprises me the most is the xenophobia against white Euro players. I love the fact how worldly this game has become. Also, love how the talent is spread out. The NBA never gets fair coverage. All the things that so calls makes the NFL great gets disparaged in the NBA. No repeat champs and small markets having a chance.

I knew JuJu's constant, cloying positivity was fake. He was honestly being a bit of a prick. He's also a fake fan of.... whatever team he claims to be a fan of at any given moment. It's always nice when an LA, New York, Chicago, Boston or Miami team loses though, I will say that. You know if the Heat had one guy miss one quarter of one game and they lost the series Jeremy (why do they keep showing Jeremy?) would be whining for an entire show about the Heat losing because of injuries. This show would be so much better without Jeremy, JuJu and Lucy. Throw in Mike and Tony too.... actually get rid of everyone (including Dan) except Billy. Billy alone would be the best version of this show.
