Welcome to Episode 8 of the Mind the Game podcast with JJ Redick and LeBron James. We have a fantastic show for you all today covering all things 2024 NBA Playoffs. First up, we discuss Bronny James going through the combine and the NBA draft process and what it's like for LeBron as a father. Then we dive into the NBA Playoffs - starting with a conversation around the MVPs of these playoffs - the role players. Guys like Naz Reid, P.J. Washington, T. J. McConnel and more. Then we dive into the Eastern Conference Finals between Tyrese Haliburton and the Indiana Pacers and Jayson Tatum and the Boston Celtics. We discuss why the Celtics are so difficult to guard and how Indiana makes defenses uncomfortable. Then we dive into the Western Conference Finals between Anthony Edwards, Karl-Anthony Towns and the Minnesota Timberwolves and Luka Doncic, Kyrie Irving and the Dallas Mavericks. LeBron and JJ discuss Ant and Luka's ability to go away from ballscreens like Dwyane Wade and how the Wolves make the court smaller with their defense. Finally, LeBron weighs in on the hate Caitlin Clark has gotten so far in the WNBA with the Indiana Fever.
Subscribe to Mind the Game with LeBron James and JJ Redick RU-vid channel today for more NBA insight, analysis, highlights and more.

Flash was great at getting to the hoop and finishing off the drive away but rejecting screens is nothing new and neither is the advance pass off an outlet pass to beat a team to the basket that might be slow getting back on D. Also, the pick and roll has always been the most basic play in 🏀 and drop/hedge/blitz/switching coverage are just KYP (know your personnel) options for the situation. The defensive rotations and counter moves offensively are what intrigues me now. I played in the throw it into the post and clear out days where there was a lot of 1-on-1, which was fun but this pace and space era is not just fun to play but more interesting to watch

I like this series, and I also really respect it. JJ has complained often about lowest-common-denominator basketball talk, and he's actually putting in the time and energy into trying to do something about it and educating the audience. A LOT of respect for what he's doing.

Man, I feel irrelevant talking here, but first that logo for the podcast is fire. Second, I am not even kidding you, despite I don't understand most of the lexicon that is been used here, while knowing I played basketball for fun in my youth and still love it, you guys are hell of conversationalist and would have loved to meet you even though I wouldn't survive a second in your technical world. What I know for certain is that you speak my language, the language of people who think before they speak and do know what they are talking about, so we could connect on that level no matter the subject matter. Third, and I am not even lying, I took the time to come back to that podcast that JJ Redick is referring to when he speaks about Lebron's teammates hating on him. He does really talk about that in fact. And his guest did have quite a reaction to coach Paul Silas' quote. Man, thank you for showing to the world that, no matter the media, we still can do a hell of a job and still excel at it. That abreviation that Lebron came up with (FAT) though is so brilliant that it did in fact blew my mind and still does. Propos to you both for spreading the word of wisdom, whatever the subject matter may be. Peace

@@ryankayombya7576 Times square wont work for Bron with Tom as the coach and I wouldnt foresee them getting rid of Tibbs for Bron considering the year they had. Dallas also wouldn't work for obvious reasons. Such as depth, Defense, etc the team they have this year will not be the same next year they have alot of "IF" factors Plus Bron doesnt like uncertainty. The best fit for Bron will be somewhere he can truly be a number 2 or 2B option.. Ultimately tho I believe he has a 1 year window before he makes the move to play with Bronny, I think he allows him a year to find his footing before teaming up

Not asking for an argument but just seriously asking....Why can't he win in LA? Why can't Reaves get better he's 25. Why can't Rui get better he's 26. Why can't Jared Vanderbilt take an entire summer and get a 3 point shot he's 25. Cam is 24, Jaxon is 23. We and the media always talk about young talent or a team is too old. Well I just named like 5 people 26 or under. People gotta want it man! As I'm typing this, they talking about players like TJ McConnell, PJ Washington. These players have gotten better. To me, Rui has the perfect size. He should be waaay better. Jared should be a 3 and D guy hands down! These guys are young enough to work and get better. Thoughts?

@@donnellm6274u make a good point. I don’t think the lakers need to look away from rui, vando, or reaves. If I’m lebron, I’m telling the lakers they need to get rid of dlo and get a 3 and d pg like a Cason Wallace/jrue Holliday/Derrick white type player. And then 2 bruiser type big men like myles turner/daniel gafford/isiah hartenstein who can rebound well and fight with jokic in the post. If they can add those 2 things then la should have enough along w ad and bron to win.
@donnellm6274
@donnellm6274 4 месяца назад
@Shiftyy236 yea man I agree with what you're saying and that damn Derrick White is a perfect player lol. It passes me off when I listen to a podcast like Gilbert Arenas who PLAYED in the league and laughs at a Derrick White! A little while back, on that podcast the guys told Gilbert that Dlo said he wants to be like a Derrick White during an interview at the beginning of the season. Gilbert scoffed at it!!! HOW????? How doesn't he see how important/good a player like that is? I'd take him over Dlo ANY DAY and I don't dislike Dlo. I honestly also think that a healthy Vanderbilt really really really helps man! Gilbert and others laughed at that too but imagine him defending MPJ on the nights he caught fire OR Jamal during those last seconds of the TWO game winners. I'm NOT saying the man is Kobe Jordan but damn he woulda helped during important spots! I know Gilbert, Paul Pierce and all these other guys played and know more than me but I stand on some of the stuff I know lol. This is why I feel Bron can win in LA along with a couple additions you said.
