@@riffsthatkill2180 Tatum is arguably not even the 3rd best defender on his team. Giannis is objectively a better defender than Tatum. Shai is at least as good as Tatum. Tatum is a better defender than Jokic and Luka, but the defensive gap is overshadowed by the massive chasm offensively between them considering Jokic and Luka are the 2 best offensive players in the world. And either way neither of them are bad defenders. They have physical limitations and Luka's defensive effort is inconsistent at best, but they are both at least average.

Simple: Jokic is better than him in nearly all advanced metrics. Jokic is actually a good defender, despite what talking heads on TV tell you. Jokic also doesn't play with another all-star. The Nuggets will likely also finish 1st or 2nd in the West. OKC have a much deeper team than the Nuggets.

@@Wladislav advance stats are skewed and give a more credit to rebounding so the legitimacy is in question (as great of as Joker is and he is great advance stats have him as the best basketball player ever so when you mention advance stats please know how extremely flawed they are because Joker is not the best to ever play that alone should let tell you all about advance stats) - also Denver is just as deep - and supposedly would even have the better coach - and OKC is winning the head to head series- so again the point I made this year SGA should be the MVP and there is no case against it not even for the Joker

SGA has put up better stats and played better defense this season than last season, and he leads the league in steals.

The Celtics would probably be a play-off team without Tatum, while the OKC would be a play-in team tops without SGA. The media pushes Tatum, because they want him as the face of the league. From SGA's stand point, he's playing much like MJ: When Pippen made his first all-star team, the Bulls started winning. Much like when SGA got a good enough co-star, the OKC started winning. And MJ led the league in steals, much like SGA. And MJ was scoring around twice as much as Pippen, much like SGA is compared to Chet. And Pippen was a great defender, much like Chet. SGA is the MJ of OKC, and Chet is the Pippen.

I think it is a slight negative on Shai's MVP-case. But if I had a vote, I'd give it to Shai as of today, out of him and Jokic. They are both worthy, but Jokic already has two trophies. The media is catching on to Shai, but the MVP-award is going towards Jokic's direction at the moment, because he's an established star.
