Too many ignorant people about Mexico City… it's an amazing city, best food in the world, areas like Polanco that put Beverly Hills to shame, low murder rate that 23 NBA cities have a higher murder rate than Mexico city. Cartels are non-existent in Mexcio City but are huge in areas like Sinaloa. Sinaloa is 800 miles away like New York is from Chicago also 800 miles apart.

I have lived in Oregon for 23 years. But, I previously lived west of Seattle two times for a total of 14 1/2 years. When I moved here, I was already a Washington Husky and a Seattle Supersonics/Sonics fan! In college, I switched to the Seahawks and Mariners. And, when the Sounders and Kraken came into their respective leagues, I became a fan! I don't follow the NBA that much because the Sonics are not a current team. If they brought them back, I would follow the NBA again!

As for safety, Mexico City's murder rate is lower than 23 of the 30 NBA cities in the NBA so serious crime is not an issue. For example, the MURDER rate in Memphis, Detroit, Cleveland, and Philadelphia is 8 to 9 TIMES the rate of Mexico City. As for cartels, they are nowhere close to Mexico City, I have in-laws in Mexico City, and I have visited Mexico City 4 times ... cartels are not an issue in Mexico City... the state of Sinaloa has giant cartels but it's 800 miles away (Chicago and New York are 800 miles away from each other ... so not close)

Vegas, Seattle, and I think Alabama should be an option...pick one of the states that has zero professional teams...there's a few states with no pro sports team, just college

There are limitations in having an nba franchise outside of North America because other countries already have a basketball league. Therefore Mexico City and a second Canadian location seem like the only options.

Seattle should be the 1st city since they took the team away from them and i get Vegas its a busy city that loves sports and sports gambling so makes since i guess but I'd like a team in Cincinnati personally probably would be tough given how packed downtown is already but plenty of spots in the outer metro area of Cincinnati for an arena but i know it wont happen unfortunately. I don't get Mexico city if they want a team step up and shutdown the cartels from flooding our streets with fentanyl then maybe we can talk... oh wait it's our government letting it happen also but they are too busy funding important things like trying to start WW3 with Russia Iran and china so military contractors can keep the politicians pockets fat with kickbacks....

Altitude is not an issue unless the NBA players are 80 years old. I have lived in Mexico city and an NBA fan and it would open doors to Latin America for more kids to pick up a basketball over a soccer ball. Look what the NbA did for Canada. In the 90’s only 2-4 Canadians in the NBA now over 40 Canadians in the NBA and G-league combined!!!! Canada only has 40 million people Mexico and Latin America have 500 million.

Overseas would be ridiculous especially for NBA the way the schedules are already but i don't like it for the NFL either it's not fair unless every team is forced to play games each season otherwise it's bs and a disadvantage for only a few teams to make the trip deal with jetlagged players trying to acclimate quickly and still perform at a high level.
