Hello, viewers. I'm News Opens Collector. I'm very honored to upload this great News opens completions.
It's a famous evening news cast "NBC Nightly News" 1952-2021 successive opens.
You know, actually, NBC Nightly News is began since August 1st, 1970.
I added former evening newscast "The Huntley-Brinkley Report", and then former newscast "Camel/Plymouth News Caravan".
I was going to also add "NBC Television Newsreel", but I can't found it.

15:35 - The WNBC anchor hits the BIG TIME, even just for one day! But then again, this isn't the first time Scarborough has been seen nationwide. He also did NBC News Digest.

A friend of mine who worked at NBC News then said Chuck stuck with his M-F gig at WNBC because he made more money there than he would at NBC News.

Ever notice that NBC's Huntley/Brinkley Report and The CBS Evening News with Walter Chronkite didn't have a theme song until the mid-70s, unlike much of ABC's Evening News during the period? They must have figured, "NBC has Chet and David, CBS has Walter Cronkite, what more do you need?"

7:51 shows Earth move in the wrong direction. NBC News said it was supposed to be a view from the space shuttle, but after so many complaints, relented and spun the globe in the right direction.

My favorite intros were mostly in the mid-2000s when they started out with all the former anchors before they get into the headlines, and then how the camera panned up to 30 Rockefeller with the announcer. I also missed how the old announcer added unique elements like, "Hurricane Katrina" to, "Reporting tonight from Los Angeles." It was a nice touch to add the unique elements at times. Then the early 2010s had a great graphics package. It was such a clean package, but sadly Michael Douglas only said NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams and never had him add any unique flair when Brian Williams was on the road. Or a major event to the intro. Thankfully the current announcer says special edition or if Lester Holt is reporting tonight from Israel, or wherever.

When I was little, it was The Huntley-Brinkley Report. That was a great news program. When it became The NBC Nightly News with John Chancellor, it was a bit more refined. They did away with a lot of the back and forth because they had Chancellor leading with Brinkley doing a separate segment. The last really good anchor was Tom Brokaw. NBC Nightly News has been a joke since they replaced Brokaw with Brian Williams.

Don’t forget Frank McGee at Cape Canavral on the various space missions. And Edwin Newman who was the butt of many jokes on David Letterman’s morning shows, as he did the news updates there.

I loved the zoom from the Globe into New York to Rockerfella Plaza. It got cut and cut until it was completely gone. Where did the "from NBC News World Headquarters in New York"? I liked that

1I hope y'all will reply to this when I saw the news opening at 13:21 was January 27 1992 I saw it on my own television I had just gotten the TV two days earlier it was a white portable RCA ColorTrak with FM and weather radio and the news opening at !5:00 was September 10 1994 two days before my 25th birthday..,I watched NBC Nightly News I liked Tom Brokaw though I couldn't decide who was more handsome him or CBS's Dan Rather...when NBC Nightly News was the Huntley-Brinkley Report the closing line was Good night, Chet Good night David...RIP Chet Huntley David Brinkley John Chancellor and Roger Mudd..the news opening at 18:23 was September 2 1999 10 days before my 30th birthday..and the news opening at 20:09 was August 30, 2001 12 days before the USA was attacked in New York and Washington DC..the news opening at 20:54 was September 12 2001 the day after the attacks and my 32nd birthday....the news opening at 21:40 was January 14, 2002 was when the younger George Bush choked on peanuts and the comedians had a field day with that just like 10 years earlier in 1992 when his dad the elder George Bush was in Tokyo Japan ate broccoli and threw up on the Japanese Prime Minister

Well amazing! I hope CBS Mornings and CBS Saturday Morning is going for a new look, but CBS News Sunday Morning is yet to be rebranded.

CBS Sunday Morning is the only morning broadcast that CBS hasn't fucked up! They are using that template for the broadcasts from Monday through Saturday. I think it's a mistake and it will not help them out of 3rd place. They tried it once before in the very early 1980's when they paired Charles Kuralt with Diane Sawyer. Critics loved it, audiences didn't watch it. The best that CBS has ever done was a period during the spring/summer of 1982 when the CBS Morning News was in a steady 2nd place position, ahead of NBC's TODAY, which was in a bit of trouble after Bryant Gumbel took over for Tom Brokaw, who succeeded John Chancellor on Nightly News. Sawyer wanted off the early morning shift in 1984 and moved to 60 Minutes.

@@bluecollarguy67 Would it help if CBS became the "centrist" news source that was not a "woke politics" news source like NBC seems to be anymore, but not super right wing like FOX is? Maybe launch a 24/7 where they were somewhat like NewsNation is. They have a digital news channel I think. Perhaps a new attitude to their news reporting is in order.

5:05 Actually the open is November 20, 1977 not 1978. 6:26 The theme in this open premiered on July 2, 1979 and lasted until April 2, 1982

I'm from Australia and our tv channel called channel 7 with 7 morning news afternoon news and nightly news we actually had the same theme song as nbc news from the 90s or 2000s to 2015 and on channel 7 we get nbc today in the mornings over here too and even cbs in the morning on channel 10 over here so we get the american morning shows in Australia too.

I like Australian TV graphic too. I think there're something relationships between American and Australian TV, y'know the channel 9 use Eyewitness News theme, Channel 7 use John Williams symphony like you said, and channel 10 is actually owned by CBSViacom.

@@NewsOpensCollector I actually heard something about that because all the drama comedy and crime shows from cbs is all on channel 10 and all the shows from nbc and abc is on channel 7 and 9 and all the tv shows from fox are on all the channels we used to have good morning america on channel nine over here too but they don't play the show anymore I wonder if the usa gets our Australian tv shows and all that we have had some game shows aswell the same as america lile family feud deal or no deal but we have the show like the UK has the chase over here qnd we even have the today show in Australia like nbc does and we have a morning news show called sunrise on channel 7 too and studio 10 on channel 10 after cbs in the mornings and we have Australia's got talent the voice and australian idol and we used to have X factor too.

Later did a commercial for WASH-FM in DC where he banged a boombox and said "It takes a knocking and keeps on rocking!: His son was Cameron Swayze who was an anchor on NBC Radio's short lived News and Information service for all news stations. "

Just a small correction: The "Attack on America" intro (20:54) was from the day AFTER the attacks: Sept 12, 2001, not Sept 11 itself. Brokaw himself introduces it as "The day after"

Yes, Camel Cigarettes sponsored NBC News' evening news broadcast from 1948 to 1955. Plymouth Automobiles took over sponsorship of the program in 1955. In 1956, John Cameron Swayze was let go, and was replaced by Chet Huntley and David Brinkley for "The Huntley-Brinkley Report"., which ran on NBC from 1956 until Huntley's retirement in 1970.

I just have seen for the first time the new Nightly News intro. Terrible. Awful. It would look bland and simple in a third world regional channel (and reminds me a lot of the last Jornal Nacional intro, but at least they have some sort of animation), but on an American national news show? What on Earth they were thinking? It's like on a sudden The Washington Post decided to blow up their masthead and put an WP in Helvetica! Sadly they lost almost the gravitas The Mission always gave to them. Also, using Studio 1A... Soon they will go on the truck for SNF!
