NBC News wanted to promote their new stars Connie Chung and Chris Wallace. Chung got the Saturday night spot and Wallace handled Sunday nights. There is conflicting information about whether or not Jessica would get Sunday nights back in 1984. She was offered a new program called "NBC News at Sunrise" but she turned it down because she thought NBC was trying to bury her in the mornings and she thought that would mean she couldn't do the prime time NBC News Digest spots. Much to her dismay they gave that show to Connie Chung as well and allowed her to front some primetime updates. So Connie got Sunrise, Digest, and Saturday Nightly News.
Back during the time when NBC News was a watchable, credible news source. The hirings and firings of both Megyn Kelly and Ronna McDaniel show just how much the news division has strayed from being a solid news source to becoming more obsessed with personalities and partisan opinions.
Oh please. The reason why we have FOX News is because the GOP thought all the networks were biased There were rantings of the "liberal" media back then. Ronna supported the big lie that the election was stolen. She has no business being on TV. And Meg Kelly has no credibility whatsoever.
