NBC's intro to Super Bowl XLIII, with a super bowl version of Sunday Night Football theme song "I've Been Waiting All Day For Sunday Night" sung by Faith Hill in HD. Copyright: NBC, 2009.
For the people who are on the fence about Kurt Warner making the HOF, consider this. He took two dead franchises (Rams, Cardinals) to the Super Bowl, winning one of them, and coming damn close to winning all three. With his numbers, accomplishments, and this little tidbit, for me it's enough.
As a Steelers fan... Kurt probably should've won this game, too. Pittsburgh rode the momentum of Harrison's pick-six to end the half, and that's why we won.
@@seanvogt221NBC wanted LVI because Winter Olympics which is why CBS wanted XXVI Also the sites flipped due to construction delays at SoFi Stadium Under the new TV deal NBC has Super Bowls that are divisible by 4 (LX, LXIV, LXVIII) because it coincides with the Winter Olympics Fox gets the ones where the season associated with the Super Bowl is divisible by 4 (2024 LIX, 2028 LXIII, 2032 LXVII) ESPN-ABC gets even seasons not divisible by 4 associated with that Super Bowl (2026 LXI, 2030 LXV) CBS gets even numbered not divisible by 4 Super Bowls (LXII, LXVI)
NBC does an awesome job with sports broadcasts. They've always made a great presentations of the NFL and NBA, and recently they've done a pretty good job of bringing the NHL back to the main frame after it seemed to drop off the face of the planet after the lockout. Good intro, and great game.
Considering this was John Madden's last game as a broadcaster you figured it would have to be a classic superbowl. And damn it delivered big time! One of the greatest superbowl games I've ever seen.
To finally finish, there was more at stake in Super Bowl XLII than just the championship. Perfection and the first 19-0 season were on the line. The Giants were a larger point underdog (12 points) than the Cardinals were (7 points). It's true that a Cardinals win would've been one of the most improbable wins in SB history, but it wouldn't have held a candle to what the Giants accomplished and prevented the year before.
Justin Addison But the Giants were a respectable team then prior to 2008, the Cardinals were the Browns of the NFC and were the “ Worst Playoff team ever “ I personally think this was the best SB of all time but I respect your opinion
Kai Smith as a Browns fan, I know what it's all about rooting for a doormat. I clearly remember this Super Bowl and I was rooting big time for the Cardinals. I want to see the teams that haven't won in a long time (or at all) win a championship. Unfortunately, this SB seems to have fallen through the cracks of history. Despite Pittsburgh winning a record sixth SB, I rarely hear this game mentioned unless you're talking about Larry Fitzgerald or James Harrison. Even Santonio Holmes (the MVP of the game) is hardly a second thought. Things, and the way we see them, impact us differently, though. I can't begrudge your stance, especially when your difference of opinion was so politely stated.
@1:36 all the way to where Al Michaels is in the booth doing the pre-game intro's... The Music is AWESOME!... And, has been ever since... I thought the same theme song to SNF was great and got you pumped up for football before, but when this new version of the song debuted for Super Bowl XLIII, I thought, this is EPIC!... After hearing this theme song, and seeing the camera work, doesn't it just make you want to watch football even more? By far Best Super Bowl Intro/ Game, I've ever seen. =)
At the end of the promo I had goosebumps...definately was an epic game. Arizona had us on the ropes but Big Ben found a way. Kudos to both squads...will always remember this one!
this was an amazing game. one of the 3 best super bowls in the last decade. i would rank it 1. Super Bowl 34: Rams vs. Titans 2. Super Bowl 38: Panthers vs. Patriots 3. Super Bowl 43: Steelers vs. Cardinals
Chargers vs Saits is gonna be the 2010 Superbowl teams and the Chargers are going to break the San Diego curse and take home their very first Superbowl Championship!
did the steelers choose to play the seahawks and cardinals in those super bowls? no, they didn't. those were the teams that made their way to the super bowl like the steelers did. steelers fans have alot to be proud of. 6 Rings
Top 10 Super Bowls: XLIV: The Saints finally go marching in onto victory XLIII: Big Ben makes the big pass to Holmes to win it XLII: The Giant Upset means 18-1 for Brady's Patriots XXXVI: A young Brady and Vinatieri shock the world XXXIV: Kurt Warner's storybook season ends with a win XXXII: Elway's helicopter dive beats Favre to finally win the ring XXV: Wide Right XXIII: Montana to Taylor for the greatest drive in SB history XIII: 70s Steelers just beat Cowboys III: Jets shock NFL
@MENKO43 ya, again, the saints never won a superbowl, started the second half while behind with a onside kick, recovered it, then started to lead, a nice 2 point conversion, a great interception to end the game. but this is just our opinions, i liked both games.
As a life time Arizona Cardinals fan, this was a great game. The only game better than this one was Cardinals vs Packers in the playoff game. Even though we lost the SuperBowl, it was an exciting & electric game. Props to the Steelers for how the reacted to us as well as telling the world the Cardinals shouldn't be underestimated. Hopefully they'll go back to the Super Bowl at some point & I think a rematch btw Cardinals/Steelers would be epic
Now look at last year's (2011) Giants team that won the SB. The team finished 9-7 having scored less points than their opponents. They are the first team to win the SB (in a non strike shortened year) to have won less than 10 games. History will tell you that the team is a statistical anomaly. However, this Giants team doesn't seem to have a stigma about them having a "lucky" run or getting hot at the right time. That's because the Giants have appeal. The Pats do now, but they didn't in 2001.
You have to say this...not only was it a great Super Bowl, but it was a great last game for John Madden to call, the man went out in style. What a game this one was! I HATE the Cardinals, cheap pretenders to the NFC West crown that the Rams or my 49ers should always hoist, maybe the Seahaw,s but the Cardinals? The biggest embarassment this side of the Detroit Lions? Glad the Steelers beat them, after my beloved Niners, the only other team I care for and...well, LOOK at my 49ers...*sigh.*
NBC and Fox have the best NFL coverage. Fox has the best pregame but NBC's in game coverage is the best, mostly because Michaels > Buck, but also because NBC doesn't shove Afghanistan bullshit down our throats every 5 minutes.
@Kamakazi242012 I feel your pain!... It's like you wait sooo long for it to start, and when it does, it seems like it's gone in a blink of an eye... I love the Super Bowl, But you get sad as the game continues because you know its the end of the season... =( the good thing is, that we only have to wait several months before it starts again! =) I mean, its not like the Olympics, where we have to wait once every 4 years, you know what I mean? =)
Steelers deserved this win, they fought hard and in the end came out with a 6th Lombardi. Great game from Ben who i thought should have been MVP. Kurt Warner ended up killing the Cards with that 99 yard pick six so he can blame himself.
