I've seen each and every single episode of Gimme A Break!, and Mama's Family. I've also seen the High School USA telemovie with Family Ties' Michael J. Fox, The Facts of Life's Nancy McKeon, Revenge of the Nerds' Anthony Edwards, and Gimme A Break!'s Lauri Hendler; and the High School USA sole pilot which never picked up as a series, this time starring Leave it to Beaver's Barbara Billingsley and Jerry Mathers, and Bewitched's Dick York. All which aired on NBC that season.

One of my most favorite shows (have seen it all on DVD) started in the middle of this Be There season-- Riptide (which started on my third birthday [Tuesday, Jan. 3, 1984]).

I think it was Rob Mounsey. He also wrote the theme song GUIDING LIGHT used for most of the decade.

@@Attmay And let's not forget 1988's Working Girl where Carly Simon won both an 1989 Oscar and 1990 Grammy for its theme song, "Let the River Run" but Rob Mounsey's music adaptation was very, very good. From 1997-present, in the words of Grammy winner Wynonna Judd who wrote for all of us with a great sense of humor and lots of wonderful ideas like "well you need to get out more." Because it's okay to work and get along with many great musicians on the scoring stage, but Rob Mounsey he was called a "quiet giant." In fact, he did a number of genres with six Grammy nominations and two Emmy wins on his resume. He resides in Brooklyn, New York.

@@Quartzquiz333 Well, Alonzo, in my deepest opinion there's "The Yellow Rose" on NBC Late Night with an all-star cast. From the creators of "Spenser for Hire" comes this long-running program on NBC Late Night and ran for seven seasons from 1983 to 1990 for Warner Bros Television, a Time Warner Company. But that's all I've read about this and nothing else.

@@NJGuy1973 "We Got It Made" has only ran for five seasons from 1983 to 1988 on NBC Late Night. Featuring an lavish cast and it was from the Emmy & Oscar winning creators of "Matlock", "Shakespeare in Love" and "The Hurt Locker." Distributed by Sony Pictures Television/TeleVentures and Warner Bros Television/HBO Enterprises (formerly Telepictures Distribution, 1978-2003). But that's all I've read about this and and nothing more.

Some programs were never lasted for a year or so, depending on some problems on the set, like cast changes and so on. Most of them didn't lasted on NBC: "Boone," "Bay City Blues," "The Rousters," "Jennifer Slept Here," "Mr. Smith," "For Love and Honor" and busted pilots. But now things have changed for the better.

"We Got It Made" (1983-1988), The Yellow Rose of Texas" (1983-1990), "Riptide" (1984-1986), "Night Court" (1984-1992), "Bret Maverick" (1981-1990), "Knight Rider" (1982-1986), "The A Team" (1983-1987), "Remington Steele" (1982-1987), "Family Ties" (1982-1989), "Mama's Family" (1983-1990), "Gimme a Break!" (1981-1987), "Saturday Night Live" (1975-), "The Tonight Show" (1962-), "Cheers" (1982-1993) along with the Norman Lear Collection as well as "Hill St. Blues" (1981-1987) and others were very successful but some of them did not. All of which that makes NBC, America's number one television network. Be there!
